Cleanliness, the breakfast and room size

The only positive aspect is the location — it’s on the main road and close to the main tourist spots. However, this doesn’t make up for the poor service and unpleasant conditions.
Very disappointing stay. The receptionist was rude, unprofessional, and unable to listen — just repeating the same protocol without attention to details. She insisted on collecting the city tax at check-in and showed no courtesy or interest during our stay or checkout.
The hotel looks nothing like the photos — old, cheap, and poorly maintained. The bathroom sink was blocked, the windows hard to close, and the smell from the restaurant kitchen was unbearable, especially in the morning with strong food odors.
Breakfast was poor, with only badly boiled eggs, dry cheese, and a few cold, cheap leftovers. While eating, the cleaning lady was vacuuming right next to us.
They didn’t answer calls or emails before arrival, and when finally reached, the receptionist was inflexible and dismissive. Overall, a very unpleasant and unwelcoming experience — definitely not recommended.

The best part of the hotel was it’s location
1. location is just at the heart
2. from the balcony view of Staubach falls
3. just beside the hotel is the bus stop which takes you to Trummelbach falls
5. just 5mins walk from lauterbrunnen station
6. breakfast spread was good
To be honest I couldn’t find any negative.
Still if I have to compare would say breakfast spread was better in zermatt

Great location, good selection of breakfast options and staffs were friendly
There’s no lift so best to bring something light with you. Lucky we drove so we can leave the rest of the luggage in the car

Amazingly beautiful, central location to explore Lauterbrunnen. My room had a beautiful view of the valley and Staubbach Falls. The staff were super kind and friendly and spoke very good English. The restaurant was also amazing and I felt like I had a genuine traditional Swiss dining experience. Any Rick Steves fan would love to stay here, I was so excited when I saw his picture everywhere.
The shower was small but that was not an issue for me!

Fantastic location, wonderful city. I recommend exploring the town after 5pm for lesser crowds.
A bit loud from the road. The breakfast is full and really nice. For the restaurant, make a reservation. There are cheaper options nearby too. We had a private bathroom. It is SMALL, but workable if you're not too big.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Oberland, perfectly nestled in the breathtaking Jungfrau region. The hotel boasts an unbeatable location surrounded by dramatic alpine scenery, making it an ideal choice for anyone seeking a memorable Swiss experience.
My accommodation was a beautiful twin room with a private balcony that opened up to an incredible view of the Mürren mountains, complete with cascading waterfalls – a view that felt straight out of a postcard. Waking up to that panorama was truly magical.
Dining at the Hotel Oberland Restaurant was an equally outstanding experience. Often regarded as the best in Lauterbrunnen, it certainly lived up to its reputation. On the first evening, I enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak served with crispy fries and fresh vegetables – an absolute delight. The following day, I savoured a tender veal dish accompanied by a rich mushroom sauce and authentic Swiss rösti, which was exceptional.
From the warm hospitality to the culinary excellence and the unparalleled views, Hotel Oberland exceeded all expectations. Whether you’re here for relaxation, adventure, or simply to take in some of the world’s most spectacular landscapes, this is the place to stay in Lauterbrunnen.

The position in town was very central. The restaurant was good & the staff were great.
We were told when booking that we could choose a room with access to a lift or a room across the road with a kitchenette, but no access to lift. We chose across the road, not knowing it was like a dungeon, down old outside concrete steps with wobbly railing held up by scaffolding, filthy stained old thin carpet, tiny mouldy shower that leaked across to where you'd use the hairdryer (very unsafe). No hooks in bathroom, so nowhere to hang clothes or towels, except on wet floor. There was no lift in the main part of the hotel anyway, as we had been told. I have limited mobility & couldn't have stayed in the main hotel. All this for nearly AUD$670 per night, compared to AUD$390 in other hotel just a few doors up, with large balcony & stunning mountain views we had to move to for 1 night because of train strike in France.

Location was great, room clean and had all facilities but too small.
Twin bed room too small to be comfortable. Toilet and shower very cramped.

The view from our room was lovely. The breakfast was superb. The hotel was very central. The staff were very helpful and stored our bag whilst we went on a 5 day hike.
Not wonderful value for money but Lauterbrunnen is expensive.

Nothing
Our experience at Hotel Oberland was very disappointing. The room was dark, dingy, and had an unpleasant odor. The restroom was so cramped that there was barely any space to move around. Breakfast was almost nonexistent — certainly not what one would expect from a hotel in this region.
To put things in perspective, prior to this stay we were at Hotel Staubbach, and there is absolutely no comparison. At Staubbach, everything was top tier — the service, the food, the communication, and the overall hospitality. Hotel Oberland, on the other hand, needs to seriously step up its game to even come close.
To make matters worse, the staff at Oberland came across as rude and unwelcoming, which only added to the poor experience. I cannot recommend this hotel, and I hope management takes these issues seriously to improve for future guests.

The location and the views from the hotel
They put us in hotel crystal which is across the street. Since we paid for hotel oberland we they should have given us a room in the same hotel. Breakfast wasn’t good.

Location was great and the views from the room (slopes).
Unfriendly and unproffessional staff. I regret for non taking a picture of the restaurant many with the large list of the things you can't do as a guest.

We had a family room for our family of four. The bedroom had a king bed and the living room had a twin bed and a pull out sofa. The room was spacious, with a full kitchen and a dining area. Felt more like an apartment than a hotel room. The best part about this room was the view from the balcony. The hotel sits right on the main street so it was very busy and noisy below but the view of the mountains was spectacular. Definitely get a room with a balcony.
The beds were squeaky and uncomfortable. The floor was also squeaky so when we or our upstairs neighbor would walk around everything would squeak. If the beds were better this would have been a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is located on the main street and there was a constant flow of traffic and pedestrians outside. Tour buses pulled up and unloaded. It wasn't quite as tranquil as I had hoped.

Staff were friendly but amenities were lacking
Breakfast was bad. We travel a lot to Europe and the U.S. and haven’t had much worse anywhere.
The rooms were very basic and it felt like we were camping. we had problems with shower water.
For the price they charge there are much better deals in lauterbrunnen.

I stay in a single waterfall view room. It was beautiful. The bath is small but definitely doable for one person. I felt extremely safe and slept with the windows open for the cool breeze. It is centrally located and you can reach every attraction from there, especially if you like walking or hiking. I was able to park across the street for 24 hours which was nice … no parking garage and car easily accessible. The restaurant had good food also. The staff were super helpful and friendly.
