The property Mismanagement caused me my holiday

The view

The hotel itself is nice, but I strongly advise confirming your booking carefully before traveling. I had reserved and prepaid for two nights, yet upon arrival (after a 7-hour drive and reaching the car-free village), I was informed that the room I booked was only available for one night. I was told this was because I had booked the “last available room,” and the hotel suggested canceling my reservation entirely. Given the circumstances, I stayed for the first night but had to cancel the second as the alternative room offered was not the same category — and the view, which is what I had paid for, was not included. This situation disrupted my holiday and I only received a partial refund for my stay . While the property itself is pleasant and Switzerland’s views are stunning everywhere, this experience left me disappointed. My recommendation is to book well in advance and reconfirm your reservation directly with the hotel to avoid similar issues if you had to book this hotel .

Trip to explore the Jungfrau region did not disappoint

It felt like being at home. Balcony in every room with beautiful views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Old authentic building but updated and clean. The people were lovely and the food was great

The pillows were too stiff but they had second small pillows you could use.

A private balcony room with great views of Lauterbrunnen Valley and the Alps was worth the price.

My 3rd floor room with balcony had spectacular Mountain views (weather permitting). Many late afternoons and evenings were spent with a glass of wine on the balcony, enjoying views of the Alps and Lauterbrunnen valley. The jacuzzi had similar views and was a great treat after a long hike in the mountains. Breakfast was fine--enough foodstuffs to enable a good start to the day. I had a 5 course dinner one night at the hotel and it was all delicious! Staff were always helpful and cheerful. Well done Judy.

I bit of a hike (uphill mostly) to Wengen city center, but this was not a deal breaker.

Spacious rooms and beautiful hotel in a beautiful region

Great views-our room did not face the valley but for meals and in a study area the view was super. Breakfast buffet was delicious and staff were wonderful.

Breathtaking views and amazing food

Our room had the best view in the town looking over the mountains (such Jungfrau and others) and Lauterbrunnen valley. The room and the restaurant both had magnificent views. The staff was great, very efficient and helpful. Judy picked us and our luggages up with a cute electric cart from the Wengen train station, so we didn't have carry our bags to the hotel. On arrival we received welcome drinks,which was a nice start of our holiday. Breakfast was amazing, big variety every day (fresh bakery items, fruits, cereal, meat, cheeses, cakes, eggs etc). We also had dinner there 2 nights in a row and it was delicious and well presented. I am sure we will come back in the future and I can definitely recommend this place.

The hotel offers a breathtaking view. It takes a short walk from the train station to reach it, but I actually enjoyed the walk. Yes, the room is small, but it was within my budget and even the single room had a bathtub—perfect for relaxing after a day of hiking. The bedding was very comfortable, and the room was well equipped. The welcome drink was a nice touch. Just don’t arrive on the last mountain train: the main door is usually locked around 10 PM. The room guide was both detailed and interesting, reflecting the long history of Alpine hospitality. From the hotel you can start the red and pink hiking routes in Wengen, which I followed every day according to the guide. Switzerland is incredibly beautiful—this place must be stunning in winter for skiing as well. Staff were friendly and helpful, although sometimes I had to remind the restaurant staff for a morning coffee. Overall, a highly recommended stay.

Poor customer service

View 5/5 (exceptional from the right room) Food 5/5 We are a couple in our mid-30s and this is our experience: location and view were outstanding and so was the food. Hotel is clean.

Friendliness 0/5 Our room was quite small, and the thing that bothered us the most was the service. The owner / manager seems like a lovely person, however we felt that she was rude to us at almost every interaction with condescending comments, “eye rolls”, talking down to us like children. Also, they have very strict rules - for example, dinner has to be started between 7-7.15pm and we had to argue to start at 8pm which is unheard of for Europe. Service was below average, for example we had to ask multiple times for a cup of tea at breakfast. Another guest had the same issue. Finally, what really got to us was that even though we put a do not disturb sign up on our room while we were out and about, the hotel staff entered our room. This happened because we asked for new towels and according to the manager “there was no other way to give us fresh towels but to enter the room” and moreover they “enter the rooms anyway from time to time for safety reasons”. This was a blatant violation of privacy that’s just unacceptable, especially when they are so strict about rules concerning guests. We would not stay here again.

Great breakfast with lots of delicious food.

Tiny room. Uncharming. Monastic minimalist. Tiny shower area. Water pressure and temperature keep changing while you are showering. Haughty and condescending staff member. (I’m referring to the only customer facing male, the woman was friendly.)

The best views anywhere in Wengen of Jungfrau. Hotel away from town, quiet, pristine in wooded area, yet convenient to town and train which you take in and out of Wengen, town is carless, so you must be mobile. Beautiful patio among flower garden. Most delicious buffet breakfast, coffee and tea served. Dinner served at Judy’s restaurant, it’s gourmet, set menu or a la carte. Servers beautiful and helpful. Judy is manager and is wonderful.

The best place to stay in Wengen

Hotel Bellevue is located on the northern edge of Wengen, about half a kilometer from the train station. Wengen can only be reached by train or by walking from Lauterbrunnen. Although Hotel Bellevue is not located in the center of Wengen, its location is probably the best in the whole village, as my balcony had great views of the valley and the surrounding mountains. If necessary, the hotel will pick you up from the train station. The hotel is quiet and clean. The rooms are basic, for example there was no TV, but you come here for outdoor exercise, not to sit in a hotel room. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The hostess had even learned many Finnish words and phrases, which was nice and showed dedication. Since I wanted to do one more hike after check-out, I was allowed to leave my luggage at the hotel for several hours. The hotel restaurant served excellent food, so it never occurred to me to go looking for other places to eat. I especially want to recommend the Swiss traditional dish, rösti. Hotel Bellevue is one of the best places I've ever stayed - and I've stayed in many. And 12 points go to - Hotel Bellevue.

Friendly, welcoming, fab view and great location for exploring the area

A lovely family run very old hotel, with a pick up from the train station to save carrying bags, very friendly staff, room was basic but had what you need including a welcome message and biscuits, breakfast we plentiful with so much choice plus the amazing homemade granola. Located at the edge of town, nice and quiet with amazing views of the valley. Highly recommended

The staff is amazing! Very polite, helpful and accommodating. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The location is perfect, while it's a bit of a hike uphill, it's worth it. Quiet and peaceful. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel are also amazing.

The service was impeccable: from check in to check out, breakfast and dinner service, also the car ride from and back the station. The staff were friendly, helpful and very welcoming. The rooms were really clean, especially the carpets and beds. Amenities were provided and cleaned. And of course, the view was great. Because the place was located slightly further (like 3 mins) away from where most of the other hotels in the main town were, you get to experience living in a cabin in the woods, and the view of the valley is unobstructed.

Wonderful location, amazing views and great food.

Views were incredible from (large) balconies and the hotel restaurants. The views alone made it amazing. As a bonus the Food was great-both the breakfast and the fancy restaurant for dinner (we ate there twice for dinner-both times it was wonderful) Had the feel of a traditional mountain lodge. Was a little dated but charming. We used the laundry service once and it was helpful(though $$).

Just a few very minor things…The advertised restaurant and bar were not quite as full service as we’d have wanted-pretty much shut down dark at 9’or so and had to ask for wine or an accommodation (ended up buying our own wine for the room though there was not a fridge in the room). Some of the staff were a little brusque but accommodating and friendly when you got to know them and over time. It was not a problem for us but it is a bit of a walk outside of the Main Street in town (adds an extra 7 or so minutes to get to restaurants or the train). It was fine for us (two adults and two teens) but older patrons could struggle or need a lift from the very nice man who works there. The location means it is very quiet I the mornings and you can sleep with the doors open!

A simple yet humble place to stay.

Excellent location with great views of Jungfrau and Lauterbrunnen valley - simply stunning to watch the sun rise and set upon the valley. Staff were nice!

It's a fairly simple and basic room, with it's age clearly showing. Wooden floorboards creak and you can hear your neighbours beside and above you clearly. There aren't many options to stay in Wengen so expect that hotels are fairly old and simple in this area. Pretty expensive for what you get but it seems that all hotels are expensive in this town. I was required to move rooms on my final night due to a double-booking error from the hotel, but the new room I was given on the top floor was a little more spacious and quiet which I appreciated.

While the view from this hotel is quite nice, I must say the service was extremely disappointing — in fact, it was the worst I have experienced in all the hotels I’ve stayed at across Europe. First of all, the hotel claimed in their email that it was 700 meters from the train station. However, it took us nearly 15 minutes to walk there with our luggage, and the directions were not clear at all. The 700 meters must have been a straight-line distance, not the actual walking path. When we mentioned this to the front desk staff — simply stating that it felt farther than expected — we were abruptly cut off and told, “Well, why didn’t you call us to pick you up?” with no concern shown at all. Instead of understanding or assistance, we were met with blame. Second, we asked the front desk for some hot water to make instant noodles, as there was no kettle in the room. We were told very sternly that we were not allowed to prepare noodles at the reception area, even though we had no intention of eating there. We just wanted to fill the cup with hot water and leave. The staff insisted — quite aggressively — that we take the kettle upstairs, pour the water there, and bring the kettle back down. The entire interaction was unpleasant and unfriendly. The only redeeming quality of this hotel is the view. But in terms of service and hospitality, it was a very disappointing experience.

The facility is quite new, so everything was well maintained. It's so new that the building is not on Google street view (which I believe was last updated in 2013), but trust me, there is a hotel at the given address, it's not a scam. The facility also felt really safe with a lot of security detail preventing non-tenants from entering the property.

A code to receive your key was sent by Booking.com messages. I never received this message and had to wait until the check-in office was open (between 4-6pm). If I hadn't arrived at 2pm, I wouldn't have gotten a room for the night, although even then, I still had to wait 2 hours for a key. So make sure you arrive around 4-6pm in case something goes wrong with Booking.com messages.

A great place to stay in Wengen

This was a lovely place to stay in Wengen. It's out of the main centre but an easy walk (even in the snow with luggage) so quiet and with access to the surrounding countryside for walking. The hotel has an excellent restaurant. The staff were friendly and welcoming and informative. There is a large comfortable sitting area by the bar with easy chairs, tables, books, games etc overlooking the view and there is generally a convivial atmosphere about the place. We stayed in several hotels on our tour of Switzerland and this was the best value.

Booked the junfrau panorama room and was not disappointed ..left the room for a little bit and came running back..missed the view so much!!!..10 min walk to the centre of town..super comfy beds..great bkkfast..peaceful and away from the crowds...
