The hotel is downhill from the train station so you have the uphill to return. Most anywhere you stay in Wengen will have a hill involved. I really appreciated the hotel staff and the owner. They were very attentive and friendly. I had a lovely room with a balcony. All in all, I really enjoyed staying here especially having the best restaurant in Wengen right there. My breakfasts and dinners were delicious. Even if you aren't staying here, please consider eating at the restaurant. The chef has a garden beside the hotel where he utilizes what he grows into his dishes.
If you are tall, be aware that some rooms may have a slanted ceiling at the bed and if you aren't careful you can bump your head. I'm short so it was never an issue for me. Also, my bathroom shower was tight. These are things to consider if you are tall and a little bigger. I would not let that stop me from staying here if you make clear that you are tall when reserving your room. I bet there are other rooms to accommodate you.

We had a balcony room and we have absolutely no regrets - the view was absolutely stunning, and we enjoyed just sitting on the balcony soaking in the views, with the soundtrack of cow bells ringing. The room was a decent size, the bathroom clean and shower good pressure, there were even some extra seats and a desk to spread out, and plenty of room for our suitcases. The staff were fantastic, and the food in the attached restaurant also delicious. This was our favourite stay for our whole holiday, it really left an impression on us.
The pillows were not ideal and there weren't other options in the room to mix and match what suited us, but that was pretty minor.

Lovely property, comfortable bed, exceptionally clean. An on-site restaurant is a plus with great food . The staff is both helpful and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again when I return.
I liked everything.

We were a family of 3 adults staying in the family room. The room was very clean and comfortable and quiet at night. We were able to sleep with the windows open to let in cool air after the warm summer days. Location is close to the Coop, Main Street of Wengen and train and gondola stations albeit the hill is hard work. Luckily they will transport your luggage up the hill when it comes time to leave. We loved the breakfast in the restaurant and whilst we didn’t eat dinner there we did pop in for a drink late one evening. The front desk and restaurant staff were all very friendly and helpful.
It would be great if there was a guest laundry. We were on a month long holiday and regularly needed washing facilities. The 2 washing machines and driers at the public laundromat do not meet the demand of all the tourists in the town so we were having to spend time there late at night or early morning before we started our day and had to hang wet laundry around our room.

Our family of 4 stayed 3 nights at the chalet that had a great mountain view as shown in the website. The chalet was spacious with 2 bedrooms (1 with double bed and the other with 2 single beds). Both rooms had a desk. There is one bathroom with a shower (no bath) and a separate toilet. There is also a separate sink to wash your cups and water bottles etc. There is a small fridge with enough space to store fresh fruits, coffee machine and very nice tea bags including herbal teas provided. Although there is no fan there are many windows and the cooler evening mountain air meant the trmperature was quite comfortable at night on one of the 30 degree days that we were there.
We did half board with buffet style breakfast and 3 course dinner provided. Both were excellent. Recommend you take up this offer if you have the chance. Its great value and you won't be disappointed.
For breakfast there is a variety of homemade breads, jams, butter, cereals and yoghurts. There is bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage, and variety of hams. There is also different kinds of juices. There is also a water bath machine that allows you to boil eggs to your liking e.g. half boiled, soft or hard boiled. The food was plentiful and delicious. Recommend you try the different breads. I especially liked the 'nut bread'.
For dinner there is good variety of starters and mains to choose from with generous portions so you are not left still hungry afterwards. All the dishes we had were very yummy that contained very fresh ingredients. The desserts were also great and also good selection of drinks. Also, the chef was able to make delicious dishes that cater to my dietary requirements without garlic and onions. So recommend that if you have dietary requirements that you inform the pleasant staff well in advance - the chef may be able to cook yummy dishes to your needs.

We had a room with a view of the mountains, plus we had a huge balcony w/table & chairs, it ran the length of the room, which included a sitting area, a toilet room, & a large bathroom w/free standing tub with view of the mountains. Staff were awesome. They made sure I had a fan for the warm nights, the coffee maker was unique & the restaurant on the property was delicious. Dinner was good but expensive but the included breakfast was delicious! All the things you could need like blow dryer, shower gel, etc.
When I asked for a sheet to sleep under….comforters are hot, they wouldn’t give me one, instead gave me a blanket/throw but it was hot too. They should offer the sheet for those of us who are hot, there is no air conditioning so a sheet is a must.

Everything! Everything about this hotel is exceptional. The room was wonderful with great amenities, the location stunning and the food amazing. But it is the brilliant staff that made our stay truly memorable. They are all so friendly, helpful, attentive and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. One night the dessert special had run out and my husband was really looking forward to trying it. The next night the chef had made one especially and let us know they were keeping it for him to have after dinner. Not only that, my husband said it was the best dessert he had ever eaten!
The hotel is down a steep hill, so on leaving your luggage will be driven up to the station, which was greatly appreciated too.

A perfect place to relax at the end of a busy trip. I especially appreciated the good breakfasts and dinners. My first dinner was so good I decided to have all my dinners in the restaurant. All different and all delicious.

As with most things in Wengen, everything is just a short walk away. Good breakfast spread but spoilt by the inconvenient need to order every cup of coffee. Staff very friendly. Dinner in the restaurant was good but relatively expensive.
Room was quite small and awkwardly L-shaped with the bed squeezed into a narrow space making it difficult to get in and out of if sleeping on the the "wrong" side.

This hotel was so clean and the staff was extremely friendly. We ate breakfast in the hotel every day, and the food was some of the best we ate in all of Switzerland.
Our room was on the first floor and faced out to the road. Since there was no air conditioning, we slept with the windows open. The temperature was pleasant, but there was a lot of noise from the road outside.

The room is spacious. Love the view of Jungfrau and Lautenbrunnen from the balcony.
We booked the room for two nights, room of two persons, but there was only one towel given in the washroom, we had to go downstairs to ask for more towels.
There’s a used tissue in the quilt when we flipped it and also a hair on the bed..the bed sheet is less comfortable it’s a bit old..
One end of the curtain rail dropped, but doesn’t affect the function much.

The hotels location is fantastic! Loved how peaceful it was and just a short walk to the main shops area! The staff is amazing!!! The food was great too!
Maybe the short uphill walk to the train station every morning but it wakes up your legs!!

Clean, comfortable and friendly. fabulous breakfasts and amazing evening meals.
No real lounge area - dining encroached on small sofa area

Very nice breakfast with various meats, cheese and breads. I believe some or all of the breads were baked at the hotel. Elevator at the hotel made things easy instead of hauling luggage up stairs. Very friendly staff and even provided a car and driver to the Wengen train station up a hill.
The room was small but still very comfortable.

Breakfast was amazing - fantastic variety of choices and delicious food with flexible hours to attend between 7:30-10:30am! We had the Kleine Bar (Small Bear) chalet to ourselves which was lovely but the kitchen facilities (oven) were not operational and given that we’re a family of 4, there was no lounge or dining area in the chalet and the toilet and bathroom were quite small. The only lounge in the main part of the hotel was also very small with little couch or comfortable lounge seating whilst the dining area was huge and spacious with beautiful views of the mountains. The staff were fantastic - so helpful and friendly and always accommodating and attentive to our needs and requests. We ate dinner in the restaurant for 3 nights and their food was outstanding and delicious with a different complimentary canapé starter taster every night! Overall, despite these minor issues, we loved our time in Wengen at Hotel Baren!
More lounge area for the separate chalet or a bigger balcony to enjoy the views. If they are going to provide a kitchen with an oven, make sure it is functional and practical for potential use or perhaps provide a microwave instead and some dishwasher utensils such as dish washing liquid/soap and some cloths to scrub and also dry stuff.

view was amazing and the staff was the friendliest. they went out of their way to assist you.
The bathroom was small and dark on the top floor room farthest to the side, and the bed was the least comfortable of our journey.

The hotel is run by a family who clearly loves their property, It is sparkly clean, and fairly comfortable. Meals can be a part of the board; it is ok and on par with most restaurants in the area. Breakfast is good with a wide spread of choices; it would have been nice to have eggs made to order, Staff were so nice and always had a smile on their faces.
Beds were futons mattresses, which is a hit-or-miss depending on what one prefers. There is room for a desk with chair but not much more sitting area.
Sound-proofing was pretty amazing because even though we were adjacent to the elevator and the front lobby as well as facing the street, we didn't have any problem with noise.
If your family's kids are older, it is probably better to get 2 rooms facing the mountains and share a balcony and use that as the "connection." The family rooms are the worst rooms in the entire place. They are on the first and second floor, right above the lobby, wrapped around the elevator and face the street level. There is no view at all and no balcony. It's a real bummer when every other room in the place is more spacious and has pretty awesome views,
Also, the last train back to Wengen is around 9ish, so be careful.
