Hotel Alpenruhe - Vintage Design Hotel

Beautiful location

We loved everything

I have been traveling a lot in Europe and this is actually my favorite hotel by far. Incredible view of the Jungfrau, well equipped room, very clean, good breakfast, very friendly staff and they do pick up and drop off to and from the train station.

Only one thing, I don’t like the fact that I have to use the key to lock and unlock the door from inside. I know it’s not uncommon in Switzerland but I think it does have some potential safety issue. If there is an emergency evacuation and the guests couldn’t locate the key in panic, they could be trapped inside the room. I know there are evacuation ladders on the balcony, those could be hard for kids or elderlies. I think the locks of guest rooms should be upgraded.

Wow!!!! As in when I open my balcony early in the morning, the view caught my breath away. I mean 1 in a million you will those views. Very lovely, I cannot asked for more. It's unfortunate because I was rushing to go to other places and not really soaked in the place, maybe next time, I'll just focus on that place. Andreas the owner/manager was very exceptional. He picked me up from the train and leaving early, he prepare a breakfast bag and it saved the whole trip of mine. I definitely recommend this hotel. Just Perfect.

I mean the only little quirk is the flooring on the bathroom. I mean the bathroom is clean, vintage old but the floor squeak. That's it. I mean it will help to add a little brightness during the night but you know it depends on certain person. Me, personally prefers brightness, but so far I can still say it is the best hotel. Ok, just a tip for you color traveler, this hotel is the end of Wengen, a little bit far but worth it.

Prompt pick-up and drop-off from Wengen railway station, as the hotel is quite a hike with luggage. Helpful staff. Breakfast was nice

No additional facilities such as spa, pool, etc., like we later saw at several other hotels, many priced in the same range too. Rooms were small, but I assume that's the case with all properties in Wengen. Our room had a balcony, but it was not mountain-facing. It was up to us to double-check, of course, but I wish it had been mentioned a little more explicitly. There wasn't an opportunity to upgrade later.
