Jeg var glad for at værten fandt et ledigt værelse til os selvom vi ikke var at finde på hans liste.

Det var meget ubehageligt at jeg ikke stod på listen over dem som havde booket et værelse. Jeg havde booket det 16 dage forud og syntes det var alt for dyrt. Så jeg havde store forventninger om et helt særligt skønt hotel.

The property was clean and in an excellent location.

Firstly the Receptionist who checked me in was very pleasant but communication was difficult as English was not her first language. She struggled with comprehension and expressing herself which made the following incident below even more challenging and frustrating. There was a loud high pitched sound that started after I checked into my room. I reported it to the Receptionist downstairs who came up and acknowledged the loud sound in my room. The sound was also present in the corridor but not as loud. I told her it was so loud it was giving me a headache. The Receptionist said she would check with her ‘Boss’ but thought the sound was electrical and due to the boiler. She suggested that I go out for a walk and that it would be resolved by the time I got back. When I returned around 6pm, the sound was still present. The Receptionist then suggested I have an alcohol drink and will be able sleep without hearing the sound. I told her that this was not acceptable. She rang her Boss again after I said I will contact Booking.com. I suggested I speak to the Boss. She spoke to her Boss in Mandarin and he would not speak to me directly. According to her, the tradesman informed them the boiler sound would sto at 10pm and that I could sit in the reception area until then . I pointed out that I booked the room to rest and break up my long journey, also that I paid for the use of the room but am not able to use it because of the loud sound. I asked if there were other rooms available and she said they were none. Later , she offered the use of a twin room downstairs next to reception but the toilets were down some stairs and were open for use by anyone. I did not accept this room as it was next to reception and the front door which would be embarrassing every time I needed to use it to shower or go to the toilet. She then offered to refund the booking. However it was too late by then and I could not find any accommodation for the night.
