Another hotel that was once great , now needs tlc.

Staff were good. Breakfast was great, the maitre de for breakfast was excellent. Room was ok for size but had problems.see below

The room.mattress needed turning and replacing as it wasn't level, it tried to roll you out. The window was not sealed properly and let traffic noise in. The TV Ariel did not work, and the TV wasn't connected to the internet. The bathroom window needs replacing. The shower head was covered in black mold and not particularly good or powerful and couldn't be moved. No plug for the bath. The door needs a hanger to put wet coats on.

This little roadside hotel was fine. We just needed a place to crash. And for 70 pounds it did its job. Had access to a pool and a bar which was nice.

Hotel looks like its in dire need of some essential maintenance. The dining room wall paper was hanging off, the out buildings looked in a poor state, the whole place gave off a feeling of neglect.

Overall a good place to stay.

The proximity to the town and my new job location and the restaurant was nice with good food. The desk clerk helped me up the 2 floors with my luggage as there was no lift.

The plug in the bath was too small so the water slowly seeped out while I was in it . Not ideal when you want a nice long soak.

Did the job; unlikely to return

Although I was disappointed that the restaurant was closed, the food in the bar was served promptly, freshly cooked and hot.

I was upset by the total ignorance of the needs of someone with a stoma. I deemed it courteous to advise the hotel of this, but then was amazed to get a phone call telling me to report to the Belford Hospital before checking in! I sorted this, but with 1 in every 340 people having this condition I was amazed and upset at the total ignorance or my situation!

Unable to use leisure centre. This was the reason we picked this hotel. Unfriendly gentleman told us it was full to capacity. When I asked to book was informed I couldn't. When I looked in there were only 6 people. Friend who visited tgat same day but were not staying at that hotel were allowed to use facilities as they had to pay. They advised it was quite empty. I wouldn't recommend to people to go here for leisure facilities as no guarantee you would be able to use it

Stay let down by poor reception staff

Good room which was warm and comfortable. Really liked the spa and pool.

The Television in my room was not working. Both reception staff on duty were most unhelpful and did nothing to solve the issue. I asked other guests if they had a problem with their TV and they said no. One guest resolve the problem in 5 minutes.

Dreadful Customer Service

Overall not much due to an incident that was reported and has just been ignored.

The celing light fell down bringing water and debris over my clothes and scratching my hand. After reporting this, the Manager said I had to take it up with Booking.com. Needless to say both parties, Booking.com and the Ben Nevis Hotel are not accepting responsibility and no refund has been issued. The Ben Nevis Hotel should be accepting responsibility and ownership for the incident by refunding the cost of the booking.

Terrible

The food was ok

The photos were most likely taken years ago or photoshopped to look better. The pool was milky, no showers worked and it was filthy (dirty nappies strewn about in the changing rooms). When we got there I had to go and track down anyone about to check us in and that was after waiting 15 minutes. Absolutely Fawlty Towers the second and will never be back.

The property was very nice central to everything .

The property although very good it was looking a bit tired in places . Our room was lovely but just some parts could be upgraded especially the curtains very frayed and stained . Also we were in a front room facing the road . Traffic noise was very loud.

Awful, mouldy room and no hot water

No hot water at all when I arrived was told the boiler was being fixed and would have water in an hour, this never happened. In the morning there was only luke warm water. Looking at other reviews this is clearly a known issue. Hot water is a bare minimum requirement for a hotel if they can’t do this reliably they should not be open. In addition to this the room stank of damp and there was mould on the walls.

Nice for a short stay

It was okay for the price we paid. Has a cozy and comfortable feel to the building. Staff were nice and friendly, facilities were a big bonus, especially being able to use the pool after checking out as we were only there for 1 night.

Decor is a bit dated, the outside needs a fresh coat of paint. The hotel is quite far from the town centre if walking, around 20 minutes from the train station.

The facilities were great, yes the hotel is abit tired but it was clean... Swimming, sauna, stream room and hot tub were all great.

Very outdated. It does cover the minimum average basic standards but it's in need of a renovation, furniture,painting, carpets...very tired...even the outdoors big sign with the name of the hotel has got some of the letters missing!...not very inviting,not certainly the best of the welcomings...it makes you wonder what you should expect next. We had a room with views to the rear parking of the hotel and the bins.

One night away

Staff were friendly and helpful,room was clean and comfortable, bathroom was modern but shower was not hot just Luke warm if even that , food was good , exterior is letting it down some what though, but we enjoyed our stay and will more than likely come back.

Three-star hotel that lives up to its rating – tired but functional

The staff at the Ben Nevis Hotel were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, which we really appreciated. Although the room was quite dated, it had everything we needed for a short visit. We ate in the bar one evening – it was perfectly adequate, and the meal, while basic, was fine. Since walking into Fort William wasn’t really feasible from the hotel, we used taxis to get to and from the town centre on our second night, and fortunately, they were easy to find and book.

On the downside, the hotel overall felt tired and in need of refurbishment. Our room overlooked the main road in and out of Fort William, which meant a lot of traffic noise – something to be aware of, especially for light sleepers. The food didn’t seem freshly made from scratch, and the location isn’t ideal if you’re hoping to explore the town on foot. Taking all this into account, we felt the room was overpriced for the standard offered.

Great location

Great location for anyone that wants to climb Ben Nevis Mountain, the hotel is about 5 minutes drive to the mountain and has a swimming pool and a spa which makes any muscle pain go away after the climb.

The hotel needs a good maintenance company to maintain and look after it, areas like the bathrooms and showers in the swimming pool area are worn out, glass windows were dirty and the hot water in the room was a little temperamental however these issues wouldn’t put me off from staying in this hotel again.

Bathroom light in bedroom was not working, wallpaper tatty in places, duvet cover had tear at one end. Seagulls on roof above our bedroom shrieking all night long disturbing our sleep.

Ideal location.

Wonderful location. The leisure facilities was excellent. Staff were very helpful.

There was no lift. Im disabled and struggled getting upstairs. Could do with a bit of refreshing up.
