Worst hotel I’ve stayed in. Hotel is in major need of works, leisure centre is filthy. Rooms are noisy, broken windows, fire alarms, parts of the ceiling missing throughout. Absolutely horrible experience staying here.

Was disappointing due to the pool not working as was the main reason for us choosing this hotel

The room we had was a very reasonable price for originally what was offered and all the snacks and mini bar extras being included with that particular room was a nice touch.

The pool was out of order for both days of our stay and this was the main reason for booking this hotel was the pool. This broke in the morning so feel we could have been informed to give us time to find somwhere else especially as we hadn’t paid. By the time we got there it was not really worth the effort if finding somewhere else. Also the hotel is very dated

Best value for money in fort william

Amazing place to stay....don't be put off as you pull up. Food on site was fantastic and portions perfect.

Some areas are tired but it genuinely doesn't matter with the staff.

The location was good

Our stay was marred by issues from the start... When booking we were told the leisure facilities were not upto scratch with there no mention of the pool being cold and hardly usable. When in our room the hot water stopped working and we had none from the minute we got into the room... i reported this to the night receptionist before being told a manager would come and speak to me. This never happened, I then had multiple back and forth with the night receptionist about this to being told an eng will be out to fix it, all night and next morning before I checked out no hot water!!! I mentioned this to the receptionist when checking out to be told they checked and all working??? No engineer was called up then? This blatant ignorance towards my concerns and complaints have been washed away which is absolutely ridiculous and I would recommend never going to this hotel again! This is the worst experience I have ever felt from a hotel and really feel let down by this! Booking.com only being able to offer 15% back as a goodwill due to a hotel not being able to offer basic hygiene needs of hot water is ridiculous... PLEASE AVOID

Location is great for easy reach of the highlands. Breakfast was lovely, it was warm without being hot.

Desperately needs a lot of money spending on it. No hot water in our room so it was a tepid bath. No UK 3 pin plug sockets near the beds. Building is very run down, including the roof which is peeling off. Carpet had visible holes. Very dirty under the beds.

Bad experience

There were plenty parking spaces on arrival. Reasonable quick check-in. Breakfast itself was nice.

The room we've stayed, could do with some repairs, tiles were broken and were moving on bathroom floor. Shower tray was broken. Water was just enough warm-ish to have a quick shower( probably too many had shower in the same time at the hotel) At breakfast, staff didn't seem to be bothered, I only asked for two fried eggs and they served them on same plate with my boyfriend's breakfast, didn't offered any plate for me. Reason they said plate its too big for two eggs...however there were plenty smaller plates and I grabbed one from self service breakfast bar....

Disappointing and frustrating

They contacted me on the day of my booking to informe me they didn’t have hot water and heating. Without any other recommendation close by. I was extremely disappointed with the contact only on the day. And it is impossible that a hotel in such small city doesn’t know any other place to recommend. I went to the city and in a few hours I saw 4 options just passing by car. They also haven’t cancelled my booking and asked me to cancel, because the platform doesn’t allow. Which I don’t believe it’s true. Unfortunately I don’t consider reasonable pay such a expressive amount of money to stay in a hotel without heating and water. When I called the hotel, I was just informed again about the situation and the two options I had was cancel my stay or go there and stay in the cold room without shower. It was really disappointing, since in hotels usually they try to at least recommend an alternative accommodation or they cancel the stay since they can’t offer basic services of the accommodation.

The shower was quite powerful (although cold) and bathroom clean

Building was in a state of disrepair - I was scared of getting Legionnaires disease in the pool - the changing rooms were actually disgusting - there was black ooze dripping out of the ceiling onto the floor at the poolside. Even my kids commented on how cloudy the water was! Very disappointed and embarrassed that people would come here to visit Scotland and have this as their experience! Whole place looked like it had not been updated since the 1970s. The showers in the pool and the room were cold, but at this point we couldn't even be bothered complaining, we just wanted to leave!

The hotel was very reasonably priced and was acceptable for a 2 night stay, but not longer.

The staff were very friendly and the food, both breakfast and evening meal in the bar, was very good. The car park is a decent size and the location is good for exploring the area around Glencoe and Fort William.

Unfortunately, there was a problem with the boiler so we did not have hot water in the room, although this is likely to be a short term issue. The hotel in general needs significant refurbishment. The swimming pool was decent and the steam room and and sauna were hot but quite small. The jacuzzi was cold. The changing room lockers needed pound coins to operate (which was not mentioned in any information before you got to the spa, which was too late) and seemed to date from the 1970s from their condition.

The room didn’t have heating or hot water. Couldn’t take a shower. I borrowed a fan heater from reception that broke down after a couple of hours. 2 nights freezing cold.

The food and service in the bar was good and the male staff member in reception was polite.

Okay for price but needs an overhaul.

Pool and gym good. Clear that whoever looks after pool area was working really hard to keep immaculate despite being a bit dated. Reception and bar and breakfast staff all lovely doing their best despite dated facilities. Fish and chips were excellent.

Room smelt awful. Pretty dated. Breakfast very poor. Looks like the whole place needs renovated.

Staff were good. Breakfast was great, the maitre de for breakfast was excellent. Room was ok for size but had problems.see below

The room.mattress needed turning and replacing as it wasn't level, it tried to roll you out. The window was not sealed properly and let traffic noise in. The TV Ariel did not work, and the TV wasn't connected to the internet. The bathroom window needs replacing. The shower head was covered in black mold and not particularly good or powerful and couldn't be moved. No plug for the bath. The door needs a hanger to put wet coats on.

This little roadside hotel was fine. We just needed a place to crash. And for 70 pounds it did its job. Had access to a pool and a bar which was nice.

The proximity to the town and my new job location and the restaurant was nice with good food. The desk clerk helped me up the 2 floors with my luggage as there was no lift.

The plug in the bath was too small so the water slowly seeped out while I was in it . Not ideal when you want a nice long soak.

Although I was disappointed that the restaurant was closed, the food in the bar was served promptly, freshly cooked and hot.

I was upset by the total ignorance of the needs of someone with a stoma. I deemed it courteous to advise the hotel of this, but then was amazed to get a phone call telling me to report to the Belford Hospital before checking in! I sorted this, but with 1 in every 340 people having this condition I was amazed and upset at the total ignorance or my situation!

Unable to use leisure centre. This was the reason we picked this hotel. Unfriendly gentleman told us it was full to capacity. When I asked to book was informed I couldn't. When I looked in there were only 6 people. Friend who visited tgat same day but were not staying at that hotel were allowed to use facilities as they had to pay. They advised it was quite empty. I wouldn't recommend to people to go here for leisure facilities as no guarantee you would be able to use it

Stay let down by poor reception staff

Good room which was warm and comfortable. Really liked the spa and pool.

The Television in my room was not working. Both reception staff on duty were most unhelpful and did nothing to solve the issue. I asked other guests if they had a problem with their TV and they said no. One guest resolve the problem in 5 minutes.

Dreadful Customer Service

Overall not much due to an incident that was reported and has just been ignored.

The celing light fell down bringing water and debris over my clothes and scratching my hand. After reporting this, the Manager said I had to take it up with Booking.com. Needless to say both parties, Booking.com and the Ben Nevis Hotel are not accepting responsibility and no refund has been issued. The Ben Nevis Hotel should be accepting responsibility and ownership for the incident by refunding the cost of the booking.

Good stay . Traffic noise spoiled it a bit.

The property was very nice central to everything .

The property although very good it was looking a bit tired in places . Our room was lovely but just some parts could be upgraded especially the curtains very frayed and stained . Also we were in a front room facing the road . Traffic noise was very loud.
