Sociable. Friendly. Well equipped

The hostel is very homely and in a good location. There is a communal kitchen and a laundry service and I especially liked the living room eventhough it is a bit small.
The beds aren't that comfortable and there was no central heating in the hostel, only small generators which sometimes weren't enough.

Reasonable staff, good location, fairly priced, last minute decision for Christmas. If you do book be sure to bring iD.
Being a positive type, not much, enjoy.

The location is very close to the train station. The common areas were great. The kitchen and the lounge were spacious. The kitchen had all equipments and was clean. They also had space for putting your kitchen spices or vessels. They had all the transport schedules and all the brochures for the things happening.
The bed and the duvet made the room feel very cold. And the duvet was small. I booked a 4-bunk bed room with a private toilet. Toilet and standing shower. Small space, but clean and tidy. I went mid december.

Quirky property with an amazing view, hot showers with great water pressure
Hostel room was cramped with no room for bags
Slightly strange vibe to the house, in dire need of a refresh/lick of paint, bathrooms were very wet and only two showers for many rooms

The staff were extremely kind, welcoming and helpful. It was also lovely to meet and chat with some fellow explorers and meet people from all over. The views were also incredible. Saw a beautiful sunrise from our room.
Fellow occupants returning to the room very late and forgetting the room key when using the bathroom.

Overall an older facility. Room was crowded. Kitchen was small.

I had a car park, there were adequate bathroom and kitchen facilities. Comfy bed and enough heating. Free wifi, chill out rooms with comfy chairs and a nice view all around the place.
The cleanliness of the kitchen and bathrooms did put me off but for a hostel it suffices. Just maybe a little cleaner.

Appropriate facilities / teas / coffee/ breakfast/ outlook/ helpful staff
As a driver parking was very limited on site and limited options close by.
Whilst clean rooms are tired.

Female room was crowded with 10 beds and lots of wet clothes...

The staff were lovely and the location is relatively central.
It was run down and not maintained to a general standard. There was mould in the corner of my bed (room 6), the bathrooms were literally falling apart and the sheets were ripped.

It is a bunk house, so if you want basic place to saty at a reasonable price then it is good. Also good location to walk into town or catch the train

Thankfully I wasnt sleeping here, i just used it as a base on my arrival in Fort William until I set off at midnight to climb Ben Nevis. I did go back in the morning to freshen up before my trip home
The house in its former days must have been lovely but it is very very tired and needs some investment. I know it is budget accommodation but that is no excuse

Friendly, helpful, kind staff. Good kitchen and separate dining room overlooking the garden. Amazing views of Fort William from the living room which had high ceilings, comfy couches, a guitar and relaxing atmosphere. This is a period house and would have belonged to a wealthy owner - now it's quite shabby, but comfortable with good Wi-Fi, free parking for six cars and the perfect spot to explore the area. The hostel is up a steep hill, but only a short walk to town and the boat trips etc. Was filled with walkers, adventurers, cyclists. Our bedroom of four bunks had a small bathroom with shower, sink and toilet - nothing special, but fine for the price and location. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their stay.

Lack of fridge space - everything else was fab!!

Location was great! Delighted I was on the ground floor after running the WHW 😂
Staff were really welcoming and helpful at check in.
Really small showers with limited changing space and having to have a cold shower on arrival as there was no hot water was really disappointing (and I absolutely had to shower!!)
I do appreciate this may have been a one off.

Affordable hostel for a one-night stay in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. The view, location and overall ambiance were lovely!
No towels were provided and there was only one shared toilet on the ground floor. Fortunately, it wasn’t a big issue for us since we woke up early and didn’t have to queue. Still, it would’ve been better with a bit more privacy or additional facilities.

For what you pay, Backpackers is excellent. It is close to the town and main transport links. It is dorm accommodation but the beds are comfortable and bedding adequate. Washing facilities are convenient. There is a living room to relax in and a kitchen to self cater and a dining room with basic breakfast provided if needed..

if you like cleansing stay away from backpackers hostel fort william this place is the absolute pits tried it for the first time with three friends as we finished the WHW booked in 9th to 11th April 2025 but what a disappointment it's absolutely down right dirty they ask you strip your bed on leaving which is fair enough but to my horror my quilt was blood sweat and urine stained pillows badly stained as where my friends aswell and the pungent smell all around the entire house is disgusting carpets badly stained decor very dirty mattresses badly stained kitchen dirty most electric fuse boxes wires badly dangerously exposed this place needs an entire rip out and start again or bulldozed

Gorgeous hostel with stunning views in a beautiful victorian building. Super friendly staff, great facilities in kitchen and shared spaces. Wifi good.
7 min walk from train station (albeit up a steep hill - but this is Fort William!)
Large comfy living room. Plenty of places to charge phones etc. Easy to leave luggage before and after check out/in. Excellent value basic continental breaky for £3.50. Free tea and coffee. Top bunks fixed to walls so no rocking each other when you move in the night.
Mattress was pretty tired, my hips complained! (I'm 55yrs old!)
37 beds and 4 toilets/showers meant queues at busy times and we didnt bother trying to cook dinner although everyone was pretty respectful and didn't take ages. It just bottle necked at 6pm-8pm and 6am-8am.
Bunks didn't have curtains or reading lights but I'm just being super honest and picky to give others an honest review. It's a great budget hostel and I'd definitely stay again.

Vanessa is - luckily for guests like me - a bit of an. Insomniac and then bakes! Her cakes were absolutely delicious and I really enjoyed connecting to other guests over these cakes and chats. Plus, this time I got a bottom bunk which was appreciated.
Nothing springs to mind.

Good location. Beautiful view. Kitchen and bathrooms were very well cleaned by the staff. The beds were very comfortable.
It was very noisy in the room on the ground floor, both from the reception area in the evening and also from the rooms on the first floor.
