West Coates Mansion

Excellent location, easy access into town, short walk from Haymarket train station, bus stop for the airport express bus (100) right outside. The room was a good size, comfortable and reasonably clean. Adam was extremely helpful when he was present. About half the price of The Roseate next door!

A slightly odd experience. They've clearly taken over fairly recently and renamed the place, which used to be called Duthus Lodge (as the key fobs still say!), and are running it somewhat on the cheap with a minimum of staff, but working hard to compensate. Rooms were fine, comfortable if a bit sparse. We were only there a couple of nights, no sign of anyone who might service the rooms, tea/coffee etc not replaced. No other options for food or drinks on site other than some bottled water in a fridge in the hallway. Reception/dining room has crockery (e.g. milk jugs) dotted about but nothing to use them with. Adam was very attentive and communicative when he was around, but he's only one guy.

From the exterior to the interior, the hotel transports you to an old-world charm. The best thing about this hotel is that it’s the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in the UK, and I’ve traveled all over the country. Thank you, owner.

On bus line, reasonable price, clean, staff kind and helpful.

Had an overpowering perfumy scent in the hallways. (Not easy to find my our Uber or by us-There’s another address across the street labelled as 5 which was misleading.)

The room was quiet and the bed comfortable

I paid over £200 per night and although the room was spacious and the bed comfortable, the showroom was incredibly small so you had to squeeze around the loo to get into the shower. Also there was considerable amount of black mould in the shower. I also think paying such a lot of money it was very disappointing that they only left one teabag per day. Something that costs very little bit makes a huge difference to a guest. There is generally a lack of care here for the guest as there was no information about breakfast, H&S, fire exits or about the place and area. The garden needed mowing and generally looked tired - this does not reflect the high expense of the room. And there were no signs to say the place was West Coates Mansion - which is important especially as a woman travelling alone. In fact the parking area had a sign but it had been sprayed with paint so I had no idea it was the right place. So it was confusing.
