Spacious Five-Bedroom House Close to York Centre - Orchid House

Lovely house, really big! Everything we needed, salt pepper, scissors, colander, screwdriver, you name it, we found one in the house. Loads of clean towels really fresh white bedding. Enclosed garden for the dog. Bus stop just 10mins walk away. Bus trip into York was 7mins. Most bedrooms had fans which was great in a 34° heatwave. Knavesmire wood just round the corner, excellent for Dog walking. Loft bedroom is so nice! all the teenagers wanted to be up there. Office desk was brilliant, got the laptop set up there so my eldest could still study and game while we were away, worked brilliantly for us. There were tablets available for the dishwasher and washing machine, they provided everything.

Could do with a few more tea spoons, it's a minor niggle I know but when the 4 kids wanted to eat yogurts after dinner we had to keep washing them up by hand to keep them in circulation as there seems to only be 4. Booking.com ticked the box saying there was a balcony but there isn't. The patio is lovely though so there's still plenty of space to sit out. Conservatory light wasn't working.

Very spacious. Easily accommodated our family. Helpful and communicative hosts. Cleaning person was fabulous. Nice garden space. Excellent value for money. Close to supermarkets and nice pubs. Quiet location.

Little bit further out of the centre of town but very easy to get a bus or Uber. All single beds, which some couples may find disappointing. We couldn't get both our cars on the drive but free on road parking was available.

Wonderful place, clean cozy and well equipped. We had a great time me here. An excellent house and fantastic host, we had a great day here. There was a little mix up with the key box Pin Code from the booking.com confirmation email, but the host sorted it out for us immediately.

Location is great, nice quiet walk to the main road to catch the local bus into the city. Nice parking and quiet residential street. Good sized property and rooms with clean bedding.

The property lacks soft furnishings and decor which makes a house feel welcoming. There are no lamps in the lounge or bedrooms. The sofa is dated and uncomfortable. The bedroom door to the attic rooms doesn't close properly. The beds had only one pillow per person and the towels, albeit fresh and white, are really quite small! There are some odd furniture choices throughout, with trestle tables in some of the bedrooms and hallways and a random computer desk in the corner of the lounge. The home was generally clean. Several empty toiletry bottles in the main shower room that need recycled. The floor could do with a deep clean. A large cafetiere and coffee would be a nice simple touch too.
