Great location in a quiet street

Location, tea and coffee maker.

The bathroom was too cold, not very pleasant to take a shower. We felt under constant surveillance by the owner and would have preferred not to know that. Single beds are too short for tall people.

Disappointing stay

Ok location - approx 20 mins walk to the city centre. Quiet terraced street. Parking is not on site but just free for all street parking which I felt was misleading in the description. It wasn't always easy to find a space. The beds were comfortable and the property was warm.

Unfortunately we didn't enjoy staying here at all because of the following: The twin bedroom stank of cigarette smoke and whilst the cleaners left the window open to attempt to air it, this smell was overwhelming for the duration of our stay. This was the bedroom our children had to sleep in and it was really horrible for all 3 nights. It was December so they can't sleep with the windows open. I sympathise that the previous guests broke the rules by smoking, but we should have been told about this before we got there and given the chance to cancel our booking, which I would have done. The previous guests should have been penalised to compensate the owner. The owner was not very sympathetic and their solution was simply to plug in a smelly air freshener which was also not something I wanted my kids to breathe in. I complained to the owner and Booking.com but no one cared. The TV in the master bedroom doesn't work, and I see this was reported several times in other reviews but the owner acted surprised. Furthermore, the living room also smells disgusting - like urine, so none of us wanted to sit in there which meant there was nowhere for us as a family to watch a movie. I was annoyed the owner entered the house whilst we were out and didn't let us know beforehand. I don't think that's appropriate. If you want to self cater - there are no serving dishes (only saucepans), no dishwasher, and the crockery was all dirty so we had to re wash everything. When I reported there were only 4 forks, the owner did promptly provide some more, but no serving dishes - these are not expensive and are basic necessities. The bathroom felt damp and there was mold around the shower enclosure which was off putting.

Very spacious, cozy and comfortable for our family of 4! Short distance from city centre

We stayed here during a very cold week and the house was really warm and cozy with plenty of space to play around and enjoy with our 2 little boys

The bathroom is quite far from the rooms so not the best if you wake up in the night!

Would have been good if the place was cleaned thoroughly.

The beds were comfortable and the space for 4 for a couple of nights was decent.

Cleanliness was an issue. The floors need a vacuum. When we did this ourselves, we realised why they were dirty. The vacuum cleaner is in poor condition and doesn’t work well. There was a slug in the bath. The dishes all needed rewashing before use too. There were some loose wall fittings around - wouldn’t have hurt to tidy them up. An extra toilet roll and some kitchen roll would have been nice. The chair in the lounge has a stain on it. Couldn’t get the TV to work in the main bedroom. All in all, could have easily been better with some attention to detail/tidying/cleaning. The photos suggest the place is in better condition than it is. Needs a freshen up.

Okay for an overnight stay

Quaint, period terraced apartment. Walking distance about 20 minutes. Heating and bathroom facilities worked well.

I don't feel good about saying this but I wouldn't describe this apartment as 'luxury' for a few reasons: Cleanliness 3/5, Parking 2/5, Safety 2/5. The stairs are steep, have loose carpet, and exposed strip nails. The carpet sags over the edge of at least 2 treads creating a slip and fall hazard (this happened during our stay). I would carefully consider bringing young children or anyone with ANY mobility or balance issues here. Unfortunately, many issues mentioned by guests remain unadressed.

It’s OK, but wouldn’t call is Luxury.

It was a full home with two bedrooms, kitchen, shower, garden.

The location wasn’t great. That probably also why there are no pictures of the front side of the house.

Not my idea of luxury though close to city and overall fine experience

This property is within easy walking distance of the city. The beds are comfortable and the little sun room is a nice spot to eat breakfast. People in the local shop were friendly.

Bathroom is down steep stairs. Some dishes were dirty. Would have appreciated plug for kitchen sink, cleaning sponge for dishes and another tea towel.

Lovely place, would stay again

The location was fabulous, short 10 minute walk into town. House was lovely and had everything we needed. Would love to stay again. Thank you for having us.

Had a little trouble with the door locking but managed to sort it and were able to leave it safe and secure. Also, the fridge was on the polystyrene I presume it was delivered on so it was difficult to access the freezer.

The property was very nice. The rooms were spacious and clean, plus well equipped . The beds were comfortable and well presented. It's about a 10-minute Uber ride to the centre. The bathroom is downstairs just off the kitchen.

A great house to stay in whilst exploring York with a few friends.

The property was easily accessible and everything was as advertised. Clean, warm, comfy beds and lovely towels. Great location for exploring York and the city walls. Lovely and clean and comfortable. The host was friendly and great at communicating.

The tea towel was very new and probably unwashed, therefore it did not possible to dry washed dishes. It would have been helpful to have a hand towel in the kitchen.

Perfect weekend home away from home

The house was so welcoming from the second we went in. Quality decor, everything wonderful. Very clean. Felt like home, very comfortable and relaxing. Perfect location for the city centre, but very quiet overnight. Will definitely recommend it, and fingers crossed, we will be back again soon. Thank you.. 😊

House had not been cleaned upon our arrival. We had to leave the property upon arrival for 3 hours so that it could be cleaned, costing us money to go out and eat. Needs cables to be tidied up around the house.

Traditional Terrace walking distance from centre of York

Easy car park outside the house. 20 minutes walk to Bootham Bar and central York. Beautiful newly renovated traditional Victorian terrace. Big rooms tastefully decorated. 3 reception rooms. 4 TVs. Even a sweet outdoor area with barbecue . Easy to enter with lockbox. Good communication with owner. Very reasonable price.

A nice little house with a modern design, furniture is modern and looks new, v confy beds , Tvs in all rooms and internet access , the kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook a meal, prepare tea or coffee-coffee machine and coffee pods available, kettle,microwave,washing machine . Bathroom is simple and modern , with all you need for the stay, including hairdryer. Parking is free, indeed on street but we didn’t have any issues finding a place. The house is quite close to town centre, about 15-20 min walk, so you don’t really need to go with the car if you like walking. I would say the owner really cares about the property to offer a pleasant experience.He was kind and communicative.Looking through reviews you can tell that he cared about previous guests suggestions.

Lovely little place in walking distance to town centre. Ideal for an overnight stay.

Clean, modern, thoughtfully decorated with quality furnishings. Comfy beds in good sized bedrooms. Cute little courtyard to sit out in. Lock box to make our own way in. Good sized bathroom with bath and shower. Really appreciated an 11am get out when so many places have defaulted to 9am post Covid! With a family, exiting so early is not fun and means you can't relax and enjoy the space. So this was very welcome. Handy on street parking. Easy walk into town (I used to live 100 yards down the road 20 years ago!), close to facilities like takeaways and sainsbury local. Quiet residential area. (review has defaulted to 8 stars but I'd give it 9. There's nothing much you can do about the layout of a house and the owner has Curated a thoughtful and luxurious space).

Galley kitchen and dark dining room. An extension added for mini sun room made the original kitchen and dining room v dark and sun room door opened into kitchen making it tricky to use. Bathroom floor tiles very smooth and a bit slippy when using the shower / bath. But minor things for an overnight stay. Front door needs careful closing as it easily slips off the latch if not properly shut.

it was lovely. So clean. They had thought of everything. The bed was really comfortable. Liked the shampoo, conditioner, soap and body wash. Communication was perfect. Tea, coffee, coffee machine, sugar and biscuits supplied. Found the house instructions, really helpful. On street parking really easy. Nice bonus to sit outside in the courtyard, in the sun.
