Beautiful charming house with character

The house was really home from home it was so lovely a comfortable. I work away a lot for work and some places just feel clinical, not this lovely little house I found I could instantly relax. It had everything we needed for our stay. It is in walking distance to the city so lovely to explore after work. Just be mindful though the stairs are very steep especially if you are sleeping in the loft space didn’t bother me as it saved me going to the gym for a few days 😊😊

Great location, very cosy and clean, perfect for a weekend away with family and friends

The location within walking distance to the centre of York, easy parking (thankyou for the premit!), the little gestures such as the Christmas decorations and home made mince pies which were delicious! Very comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and the owner Mary was very helpful

Great location, well equipped and comfortable

Location was within 10 minutes walking distance of an excellent selection of restaurants plus not far from Shambles, Minster and Shops. Waverley was well equipped and lounge was comfy and warm. The Kitchen was very well equipped. If anyone wanted to keep costs down - it would be very easy to cook each evening. We made breakfast and chose to eat out during our stay. Lots of different cuisine available nearby.

The only down side for us was a lot of stairs. 3 ladies between 68 - 78 we all had our own rooms. 1 off us in attic room. Whilst there was an en-suite shower room in attic room, the main bathroom was located on ground floor. So the two ladies sleeping on first floor stairs became an issue. The first floor bedrooms are large so may be worth considering converting one to create a toilet and hand basin?? This may not be an issue for younger visitors but for us the stairs became an issue.

Perfect base for exploring York

Lovely little terraced house in a very quiet street within a stone's throw of the city centre and York Minster. Mary, the owner was very amenable, showed us round the house on arrival and even left us some little cakes to enjoy!

Perfect location, central but peaceful. A comfortable place to stay with real character. The host was very friendly and welcoming.

The location was brilliant, great to get into the town to see everything and go onto the river. We couldn't have asked for more. The property was clean and very comfortable, everything we needed while we were there

Amazing location and brownies on arrival was a lovely touch

It is an old house and stairs are extremely steep and not suitable for very young children or the elderly/anyone with mobility needs. The kids couldn’t open the attic room door when it was closed as it was too heavy- this poses a fire risk.

Girlie weekend in York

It was perfect for our needs everything we needed was on hand and the location was great. The homemade cakes, condiments, tea coffee and milk was a lovely touch. Picking the keys up from the host was not a problem, literally round the corner, the host Mary walked round with us and shown us round the property. We would definitely stay here again thank you Mary you have a lovey quaint property.

Lovely house in a great location.

This lovely house was warm and welcoming, and we were happy to cosy up by the wood burner as it was very cold outside. Milk in the fridge and a selection of cakes was a great way to start our visit. Excellent location and it felt like a home from home. Thank you, Mary!

Great Loacation, Parking, Cute Cottage but Needs Overhall to Bring up to Standard

The house is in a fabulous location, walking distance into the historical part of York - Free parking was a huge bonus. Sweet character cottage. Very friendly owner.

The cottage is in need of a complete redecoration, quite musty and dusty in places - beds were uncomfortable and mattress springs make sleeping difficult, towels thin and worn. Note - don't recommend for elderly as stairs are very steep.

The location is very good not far from the centre of York

The house/cottage is in need of renovation. The suite was filthy covered in stains. The oven was dirty hadn’t been cleaned.The living area was covered in cobwebs in corners etc piece of jigsaw was left down back of tv. The garden was overgrown couldn’t sit out the garden furniture was in need of a good clean could be a beautiful house if renovated and redecorated although the bedrooms were nice

This little house has everything you need. Perfect location for walking into the city. Supermarkets close by. Would definitely stay again.

Nothing. The stairs are exactly as described and wouldn't suit anyone with mobility issues and not great for little ones. We found the rug in the front room a trip/slip hazard but we just rolled it up out the way.

Family friendly and good location

Perfect house to share with my husband, parents, and 2 year old. We wanted to be by York city centre but in a quiet road and this was perfect. A comfortable stay which had everything we needed including a permit to park on the street. Kind and welcoming hosts. The cupcakes on arrival were a nice touch! Would stay again.

This is a delightful property easy walking distance from the city. The 3 double rooms were all large and airy. We were given a permit for the permit parking by the owner so we could park outside the house this was free of charge and just great !

A very sweet, well appointed property in a perfect location 10 minutes walk from the Minster. It was clean, homely and warm with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The host Mary was very helpful and welcoming.

The property is over three floors and the stairs are quite steep. This was not a problem for us but worth noting if you are less able.

The accomodation was only a short walk to the centre of York. It was very warm, clean and the facilities were great. The host was very friendly and had left us milk and cakes when we arrived.

The stairs were not really suitable for people of a certain age as they are very steep and also the bathroom being on the ground floor and the en-suite on the top floor meant it was difficult at night for people sleeping in the 2 bedrooms on the first floor.
