Lovely owner but not for us

The gentleman who runs it is very nice and very helpful. Great location to town. Bedding and towels did smell fresh.

The room itself does not have a television (I know this is not what you go away for but due to rain we did have to get back to the accommodation earlier than planned, also traveled with a child) nor did it have a coffee making area in the room. You are advised you are welcome to use the kitchen area but we did not feel comfortable. The room could do with general modernisation but our real issue laid with the en-suite noticeable wiped down mould, shower base really needs replacing. Lots of random hairs in the main bathroom area and shower. For us personally staying in a home where the owner also lives is just not for us.

Good location and hospitality

Cheap, cheerful property well situated to the tourist attractions, train station and river. Vas allowed us to check in early, was very helpful with parking and the triple room was spacious and comfortable.

Bathroom was a little tired, but totally fine. !

I was offered breakfast but didn’t partake as I preferred to eat out personally this time. The location was excellent, close to everything. The owners ‘Vas’ & ‘Lucy’ were attentive, chatty and genuine, appreciated how social they were and willing to spend time with me. They kindly invited me to watch the football with them but I was just feeling quite introvert as I was gearing up for a big race!

Good location

Location spot on 5mins into centre, owner very welcoming lovely people, room was big and fine for the night. Car park just through the passage way about 2 minute walk if there isn't enough parking on street.

Only criticism even though you can get a drink from the kitchen downstairs i would have liked to have had the option of a kettle etc in the room as when I wake i love a cuppa in a morning without getting dressed first. Other than that the stay was fine

The closeness to the centre of town

The heating did not work - our radiators were stone cold. We were given a small heater which did not make much difference. The shower pressure was really poor only one of us was able to take a shower Wifi was not available in our room. The network was not showing up despite being told wifi is available all over the house Despite a £150 room breakfast is not included Family rooms are at the top of the house. Not good for elderly members of family or family with young children

Value for money .

Lovely big room on ground floor ,location was great not far from the river and lovely walk into centre of York .

Just would of liked a en-suite room but for the money we paid can’t complain.

Excellent location. 10 min walk (or less if you walk fast) to town centre. 3 min walk to a bus stop. 5 min walk to a supermarket. My bedroom and the shared bathroom were very spacious. Lots of channels including netflix on tv. Great value for money.

A short walk from Train Station

Although the room was the only en-suite room in the house. it did not have a TV, and neither was there Tea and Coffee making facilities, although Vasken did invite us to use his kitchen. I suppose it was something we expected, but should have read about the facilities more in that particular room. My wife was not all that well during our stay, but Vasken did produce a hospitality tray for her of water, cake and fruit which was a lovely touch.

Easy to reach, easy to enjoy, friendly and helpful staff.

Access to a clean and spacious kitchen. The room was comfortable and well decorated. Quiet location, yet remarkably still close to everything in the York city center area. The proprietors friendly, and helped make sure we got out well organized and to make our train on time after we checked out. Highly recommended!

very dissapointed

nothing like photos on web host was not that friendly when he answered the door he said what do you want not very presentable in appearance clothes looked dirty.

the place looked unkept doors scratched outdated and dingy when he showed us to our room the quilt on the unmade bed at that point had stains on it me and my mum decided to cut our stay short and go home we did ask him for a refund he replied no you cant have a refund our house is clean there is nothing wrong with it.He did offer another room but we just wanted to leave then.

We enjoyed it.

The most important thing is that the hotel is located in the city center, five minutes walk from the Yorkshire Museum, close to other museums and the embankment (river boat trips), which makes this place very good for traveling and people who want to see York. The hosts of the house are very welcoming and kind. We were met, escorted to the room. The room had everything you need: free Wi-Fi, clean bed linen, clean towels, clean shower and clean toilet, wardrobe. On the ground floor there is a kitchen where you can drink tea or coffee.

No free parking for a car near the house. We had to leave the car in a paid parking lot, which is located near the house.

It was very reasonable priced with a clean and tidy room.

Lovely room, bedding smelt lovely and clean. It had the facilities you need for a stay.

Mattress was a little uncomfortable for me, hard and springy, it could also do with a full size mirror in our bedroom maybe a tv too. Tea/coffee facilities would be a nice touch in the room. Not everyone is confident using a shared kitchen with the owners.

Viking Festival visit.

The location is excellent for the train station and the City centre. Vas, the host was extremely welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I'd highly recommend this host.

It's a shame there is no breakfast option, but there are plenty of local options.
