We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely old property.

Lovely property and a great location with very easy access to the city centre....4 mins walk. Good communication and parking permit sorted out in advance by host. There are two bathrooms, one is ensuite to the upper bedroom and a main bathroom for the three other bedrooms and a handy downstairs toilet on the ground floor. The kitchen is a good size with plenty of work surfaces and a table big enough for everyone to eat round. If you like your older building, this is a great place to stay with lots of original features.

Very happy there was nothing we didn't like perhaps a coat stand or hooks in the utility room would be handy for a wet day.

Staff were second to none, had a couple of problems but were sorted immediately.

The property was very close to the shambles, couldn’t have asked for better.

Spacious, well equipped house in excellent location

The house is in a very convenient location. Spacious accommodation and very clean. Well equipped. Quality furnishings and fittings. Plenty of fluffy towels supplied.

Mattresses are tired. Lighting throughout the property was dull. We stayed in Winter and it was quite cold in the house - especially in the lounge where we experienced a cold breeze coming from the fireplace which made the room uncomfortable.

Superb

A lovely house right in the middle of York City Centre . Despite this located in a nice quiet side road and parking provided via permit .A great power shower in the bathroom in which the temperature can be adjusted . The kitchen area is fairly spacious leading to a small but pleasant enough court yard . All in all a great property to stay .

Only one room had ensuite in which the shower needs looking at as it floods if not careful due to a blockage. The twin room beds are not for adults as they are fairly short and not recommended if you are above 5ft 8 in stature .

Excellent weekend for 4 pairs of friends, fab memories made!

Excellent location, two minute stroll to attractions, Shambles, bars & restaurants. Well equipped kitchen, spotless. Fresh towels for all 8 guests. Nice wee garden, property has plenty character.

A few guests felt beds were a little uncomfortable. Basement could be a great gathering space with a little attention - would benefit from a good airing. All part of an old houses charm I suppose!

Excellent location and lovely house for a city break for a group

Excellent location and a lovely house which had everything we needed for the 7 of us. would definitely stay again. Wheelrights were helpful when contacting them to check the electronic permit and we were able to park up an hour before check in and had the closest space to the house

Location is excellent, property is quiet and very well situated. A great base for exploring York.

A little short on living space to support the 8 people it can sleep. The same for the kitchen equipment (6 wine glasses for 8 people).

fantastic location and welcoming. wheelwrights were very helpful pre stay in arranging parking and sending useful information. check in and out was straightforward as per instructions. kitchen well stocked with utensils etc to be able to comfortably self cater if required.

seating area in cellar damp. property superficially very clean but under sofas and beds very dirty. 3 of the 4 bedrooms have to effectively share 1 bathroom as other small shower is en suite but I guess not a lot can be done about that. it does mean those sharing have to get on well!!

Will stay again - location can't be beaten and great price for the accommodation on offer.

Location was great - close to all attractions. Parking was fine - never failed to get a space. Instructions for the property were clear. The kitchen was well kitted out and the lounge was comfortable. The bedrooms were great (Although not all had hanging space) and one bathroom was particularly spacious (the other was very much an en suite).

No real welcome pack (a bottle of something and basic toiletries would have been nice), the gardens could have done with a bit of colour and a tidy up,

The house is beautiful and suitable for a large family, with an excellent location. Everyone loved it. There is a huge kitchen table and we all congregated between there and the outside courtyard.

Fabulous location beautiful home.

Amazing location so conveniently placed to explore York City center. The house is beautifully presented. The kitchen has everything you need if you wish to cook a meal. We only ate breakfast in the house as we had a dinner reservations. As a family of 7 adults we loved sitting around the beautiful kitchen table late in the evening sharing a bottle of wine and discussing the days events and plans for the next. All bedrooms are of a good size, so no arguments. The showers are so simple to use and water pressure is brilliant. The owners of the property answered any questions we had before we arrived via email very promptly.

Great stay in a historic house with modern features.

The location was amazing, inside the city walls and a short walk to the Minster, the Shambles, and all the tourist places we wanted to visit, yet on a quiet road and we weren't bothered by too much noise - there was the occasional shout from a nearby pub, but that was about it. The whole house was lovely, spotless when we arrived, facilities were great too. We'd happily stay here again!

There was nothing provided in the house for entertainment other than TV. It would have been nice to have had a couple of jigsaws or board games to use. But that's a minor detail, and if we hadn't arrived by train we'd have brought our own, as we usually would!

Lovely bedrooms, good decor and sympathetic to age of house. Bedding and bath towels all good quality. Kitchen modern and well equipped. Very good location with easy access to shopping areas.

Very, very musty smell in lower lounge. Deep clean needed in toilets (under rim) but otherwise good. Washing machine not in use. Smaller bedroom was short of hanging space.
