Great hotel, great location, very comfortable bed and helpful staff

Location was great…we were there for the Christmas markets and they were easily accessible. Plenty of food and restaurant options close by. Very comfortable bed, and as a tea drinker when I requested a kettle staff were happy to provide me with one.

Lovely great location.

Clean, well-appointed room with plenty of storage. Bed was comfortable, linens were nice. The large veranda with its lovely view of the surrounding area and river was a wonderful treat. Fresh flowers was a nice touch. Breakfast had a large variety of food and was very good. Coffee was excellent.

Since there are normally two people, a second luggage rack would be appreciated. Didn't care for the see through doors in the bathroom. Having a better area for the coffee maker would be good.

Location was extremely close to Rhine River, shops and cafes. Clean and updated rooms.

Bedroom was clean and the bed was comfortable

Our room was facing the big road construction intersection. Big cranes and broken cable stones was the view. I asked if our room could be changed, the young man at the seat had no effort to look for another option.

A lovely place to stay in Basel !

Nothing to dislike, great staff, great location, clean and comfortable rooms. There was a heatwave during my stay and the fully functional air conditioning was much appreciated! Also the breakfast room and the breakfast were great!

One minor detail but of no real importance to me : as I was traveling with my bicycle, there was no garage to store it, so I had to take the bike in the room

Great location, friendly service, comfortable accomodations!

Great location for a short visit to Basel. Conveniently located by the river, and an easy tram ride from the train station. We were traveling with another family and had 3 young children among the group. The hotel staff was quite accomodating when we ordered pizza into the hotel and they set us up at the back of the breakfast room with dinner settings. They even took our trash after. It wasn't necessary at all, but reflects a high level of customer service.

This did not impact us, but it's worth noting that there is construction going on right next to the hotel. If you're there for an extended stay it might be smart to ask for a room that is on the opposite of the building.

Another comfortable stay with thoughtful, accommodating touches. We will be back!

We have stayed at Hotel D several times, and several times with our pets. There are so many thoughtful touches, especially regarding our dogs. They provide bowls and special treats for your pet, which is just so nice. We appreciate it so much.

We can't really complain. I would mention that in our last room there is a large, frosted window between the sleeping area and the bathroom, a frosted window in the bathroom that can't be covered, and a streetlight just outside the bathroom window, so it wasn't possible to get the room to be 100% dark. But even though that was not necessarily optimal, it did not diminish our enjoyment of our stay.

Nice hotel in good location of Basel

The location of the hotel adjacent to the Rhein is very convenient. The breakfast was good, the gym provides enough for a workout. The staff was supportive.

Unfortunately we found our room cleaned poorly and after a long day of travel, this was frustrating. I will say that the management and staff took this very seriously and recleaned the entire room for our 2nd day.

it was a amazing stay in Hotel D in Basel, we had a good decision to choose this hotel.

The room is large for a couple, really nice bathroom, well organized. We have a room with a balcony. They even offer the tivi at the bath.

the only thing i dont like is the design of the balcony door, it´s too heavy and difficult to open.

Good Hotel but not excellent

The hotel is in a good location,

The front of house at the hotel , could be more happier as on arrival we were not greeted with a smile. We were 3 Adults in a room at the hotel there was not enough towels, also no safe in the room which is a must I would say at all hotels, no iron and ironing board in the room, which we had to call for, no complimentary water in the room

Excellent stay and a vey welcoming staff

Excellent location. Just a 5 minute walk to all the sights and shopping. Breakfast buffet was fantastic and very enjoyable. We loved the small boutique feel and the staff was very helpful with attractions and currents events going on. Eurovision was just starting so they explained where to go and what to see. Wish we had more time there.

The staff was great. They were knowledgeable, understanding and responsive.

It would have been nice if it was possible to purchase bottled water and possibly some sundries. There was no wash cloths in the bathroom. A shelf to place your toiletries would be a good addition.

Stopover before the cruise.

There wasn’t anything to not like. The staff were brilliant and the room was spacious The location was close to everything in the old town.

We arrived during a very warm period for May. Temperatures in the high 20’s Celsius. Our room was on the top floor. We needed the air conditioning to be comfortable . Unfortunately something was broken in the a/c and couldn’t be fixed until the following week. This is the only reason that I haven’t given this hotel a higher rating

Good location and renovation features - more detail in cleaning

Location is very central and convenient. The reception staff were all very nice and accommodating, they gave us the 2 towels missing for our children that the cleaning crew forgot to place. As we were there during the Easter break, we found one night a big chocolate bunny and eggs for our children which was a nice touch.

Lack of cleanness in the room. There were dust balls beneath the coffee table, the desk, and around the corners. We informed the reception who took note however nothing changed so I assume the cleaning crew is not adequate. The family room is really tiny for 4 people, there is absolutely no room to walk around but we didn't mind since we were out all day. The breakfast is OK but doesn't justify the 27chf per person since you have to make your own coffee and tea which the least minimum to expect from a hotel. The personnel just cleaned the tables but left all rest for guests to do (the milk was empty, there were no more fruits). In addition they seemed always very stressed, perhaps adding 1 or 2 more people would help .
