Ideal location for exploring the old city on foot , just a little tricky finding walking route from train station to hotel but Google maps was accurate and 10 minute easy walk

This hotel is not near anything in Basel. There is no nearby walkable restaurant and the hotel has no restaurant they only serve breakfast if you have added it to your reservation

A lovely recommended hotel in Basel

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were a highlight - everyone was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. They were always available and willing to assist with anything. The location is also very convenient, a short bus ride to the central station and only a short walk to the main streets of Basel. Whilst we were given free transport with the Basel pass, we found everything was within walking distance anyway. The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. We also loved the excellent gym in the basement. Given Switzerland’s high prices, we considered this hotel to be very good value for money.

Excellent stay

Received a surprise free room upgrade to a loft, the room was amazing, with a large terrace. Bathroom was modern and spacious, with a separate shower and bathtub. Would definitely return here next time in Basel.

Our stay was short but an excellent stop over

We had a junior suite which was very spacious. Fantastic bathroom - possibly best shower ever. Breakfast was good and everything is spotlessly clean.

It’s a little lacking in atmosphere and soft furnishings partly because there are no dining facilities but I’d certainly recommend it to friends and especially good for business travellers.

Great stay but a bit pricey

Room was clean. Stuff was helpful. Location is 1 bus station from the Train station. The bus station is in front of the hotel. The bed was large. Upgrade to Deluxe Room for 10chf/night was nice as the room was quiet and good dimension. The shower pressure and hot water were very good. The free 1 beer for 1 night of skipping cleanup had very good taste :)

Although we asked for kettle in the room the tea mugs we had to ask separately. The minibar is very small (smaller than normal). The bathroom soap/shower gel & shampoo herbal perfume were strange. The price is quite high for the room amenities.

A relaxing, comfortable stay near the highlights of Basel. Wonderful staff in a beautiful place.

I can absolutely recommend The Passage. We were travelling with my father who has very limited mobility and everything was organised so well. Barrier-free entry and room, comfortable, clean spaces and modern design with thoughtful touches. Loved the location too. Just far enough away from the noise of the bars and restaurants that it was peaceful, while still being easy walking distance to whatever we needed. The staff were gorgeous. So friendly, helpful and kind. We would definitely go back.

Perfect hotel with great value for money

The location is perfect, very close to the city center and the train station. There’re triple glasses windows in the room, it’s very quiet when I stay in the room even the location is close to the center. The room is very big and clean. Besides that, the staffs in the hotel is very supportive and kind.

Very enjoyable.

Reception staff made us a cappuccino on arrival as we were early for check in. Staff were excellent. Young lady at reception made us a cappuccino one night when sitting at a front table. So thoughtful very friendly. Very clean room.

Great for a one or two night stay.

The accoms is just 2 bus stops away (if I recall correctly) from Basel BB so really near to amenities. The place is clean, large shower area. Staff was great, they spoke English well and assisted me when I had some issues with my key card. Breakfast had sufficient variety though it was self service.

Well it is Switzerland, so it is expensive... For the same price elsewhere (eg Germany) you could get more things. At night the place is quite dark, and I was there in winter so sun sets pretty early and for a first time solo visit to Basel it may be uneasy to explore at night though I found it to be safer than Frankfurt. Overall I'm happy with my choice and would recommend if you're just staying for one night.
