Perfect stay for a family

The best family room we have ever stayed. The room was quite large and yet hot in the cold of December. Quiet and cozy neighborhood was the thing we needed as a family. The staff were perfect. Definitely we'd stay at the same hotel if we come to Basel again.

Exceptional hotel.

The hotel was recently rennovated. It had the charm of a smaller hotel with the bonus of quite large rooms with very modern decor. They retained the very old window frames and hardware which was a nice touch. The staff is small but exceedingly friendly and helpful. The location is terrific with very short walks to many restuarants and the town square. The addition of the Basel Card was an extra bonus.

Not a hotel for the handicapped. No way to tooms without a short flight of stairs. Otherwise no drawbacks.

Convenient, friendly hotel

Very convenient location for Herbstmesse at Petersplatz. Staff helpful, large room ( we were upgraded to a triple room which had lots of space) Have stayed here several times.

Would really like a coffee machine in the room. One of the staff was not helpful when we went for just coffee and croissant - the rest were great.

Hospitable and practical

Good location for university. The old town and shopping areas were about 10.00 minute walk. Access to public transport taxis and trams on door step. My room and bathroom were clean and comfortable with good choice of non alcoholic drinks in mini bar. Breakfast menu was excellent. Free coffee and tea machine all day ending at 9.30pm. As my flight had been cancelled owing to industrial action at Basel airport it made my arrival at the hotel very early the following morning. The staff were very accommodating and left me the code to the main door, the swipe card and instructions for accessing my room but glad I had my mini torch with me! It all worked well if the experience was a little surreal! Staff were extremely helpful. Useful shops such as a pharmacy and grocery store very near by and a few useful cafes and restuarants.

As a Brit I would have welcomed tea and coffee making facilities in my room. Access to my room was a little complicated since it involved moving from one building to another and having to negotiate two lifts each time.

Perfect location for a short work or leisure stay in Basel - don‘t expect any frills though!

Very average, below expectations

Staff were very helpful, location is not bad.

Breakfast was meant to be 'superb' per reviews.....it was very average, the hot option looked dreadful. I was given an 'upgrade' from a single to a double, but involved the journey across to the old part of the hotel...the room was large but the Aircon was temperamental and I had to restart it at night as it was sweltering.....plus the lights above the bed didn't work (room 211). There are better slightly more expensive options which I will take in future.

Decent Hotel in Great Location

The hotel location is great. Just step outside and you can explore the city. Good connections (tram, busses) to go anywhere in the city. The room was clean and maintained every day. Friendly and helpful staff.

You can here people from other rooms and their footsteps, also from the corridor. The receptionist gave me wrong bus route to the airport which almost made me miss my flight. The bus went to the wrong direction. Luckily the friendly people of Basel helped me to navigate to the airport in time. Other than the honest mistake, the personnel was friendly and helpful.

The hotel is an excellent value. The room was large and clean. The staff were all very nice. We liked the location but if you have mobility issues it is up a slight hill.

The public spaces basically shut down at 9:00 pm, meaning the fireplace and the coffee machine are turned off. It would be nice to extend that to 10:00.

Free travel card is a real deal breaker to choose Basel over other Swiss cities .

trams are close. never had to wait more than couple of minutes any time any direction. All free travel with Basel card which is free with any hotel stay. Its valid from check in day to checkout day so incudes airport transfer bus ( 50) from and to Basel SBB station -airport. You only need booking confirmation, until you check -in . when you receive card from hotel. big 50% discounts to attraction like zoo. tours. etc. So much to do , Great indoor water park . So much to enjoy and see. We have been back four times to this pretty city. It also has a Carls jr. fast food outlet as well as numerous usual Mc ds, kfc b.king.

Shops closed Sunday . So used to shopping in UK on sun.

Beautiful Basel. Great value.

We were given the largest nicest room in the hotel. It had an upstairs loft for the queen bed and bath and two story windows. Beautiful space, very comfortable and impeccably clean. Our stay came with free public transit passes but we were unable to use them due to the timing of our stay. The front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. Location was walkable to the city center and felt very safe. Great value.

Parking was a garage down the street but difficult to get to by car. But that wouldn't stop me from staying here again.

Ideal place to stay near to the town centre and the river

The available hot drinks all day was very welcome. The outside terrace was comfortable and a relaxing time after walking around the city.

A little more information offered about the area. We were given the details of a tourbus to take us around the city but when we red it, it was not available on the day we were there.
