wonderful stay and grateful for welcoming personnel

A truly gracious hotel run by wonderful staff. Perfect location, easy to reach from the station, and to walk around. There is also a supermarket just few minutes walk.

I would have appreciate some instant coffee in the room, even though the breakfast serve in the hall is well filled and delicious.

An experience to avoid. The owner shows a surprising lack of professionalism and respect. His communication was unprofessional and lacked basic courtesy. There was no sense of customer care or hospitality — just rigid rules and a cold attitude. While I understand that policies must be respected, the way they are applied makes all the difference. Unfortunately, there was no effort to communicate with respect or understanding, which is essential in this industry. No listening, no flexibility, no effort to find a solution — just condescension and rigidity. He just wanted to keep my money.

Charming Hotel Close to Basel BSS

On a walking distance from Basel SBB, approximately 10-15 minutes away. Excellent location, in a quiet area but close to many restaurants and bars, and city attractions. The room was exceptionally clean.

There is no A/C in the room, which is not uncommon for Europe, so I would not choose to stay here during summer. The rooms are small so it may be hot.

All good, Location perfect. Easy walk from main Railway station and only 10 minute walk into Basel Centre. Room and facilities very good. nice and quiet. Good breakfast.

Overall, the experience was above average, a 7 out of 10.

Location. It was quiet. The breakfast had great variety but too expensive, even for Switzerland.

The bed only had a fitted sheet and a duvet. The fact the bed lacked a regular sheet was disappointing. The bathroom was tiny!

Recommended hotel in Basel

Stayed for ESC and overall was impressed. Perfect location, very quiet, extremely clean and comfortable, good value for money, kettle and cup on request, reception generally helpful. Overall would definitely recommend for a stay in Basel.

Luggage storage arrangements not particularly secure. No safe in room or other safe storage facility for passports and valuables. Both of these could really be improved.

the staff were very helpful. i opted for the breakfast one morning and it was a wonderful option to have - lots of choices and delicious, fresh food. the location was easily walkable to many shops and restaurants.

The bathroom was a tight squeeze with lots of wasteful individual plastic bottles of toiletries No kettle in the room Tiny lift ! The price, not as expensive as Zürich but nonetheless Basel isn't a bargain

Hotel Birsighof is an ideal base to stay a few days and enjoy Basel and the region.

It was nice staying for a week at a friendly, independent hotel which had all the facilities you might expect from a chain hotel. Hotel Birsighof is really conveniently located for the city centre and the railway station in a nice neighbourhood (although they all seemed nice in Basel). The staff were very attentive to all our needs and we enjoyed having the buffet breakfasts. There is a nice courtyard garden at the back for relaxing.

The room was a little small but that's normal in city centre hotels.

Tidy hotel in central Basel

good location from restaurants, bars and about 15 minutes’ walk from Basel main train station. very clean room, number 35, suitable for solo traveller. I hear the breakfast here is good but I didn’t have it as I had to leave early.

The bathroom was tiny, you can’t really shut the door when you are in it, but the shower had plenty of pressure.
