Hotel Spalentor - Ihr sympathisches Stadthotel

The welcome we received from the staff on arrival was very friendly. There was a lovely jug of lemon water on reception to help ourselves to on arrival, as we were very hot. The room was fabulous. Sparkling clean with a huge comfy bed, coffee machine, leather rocking chair which was so comfortable. A very nice bathroom and handy storage area. There was also welcome fruit in the room, which is a very nice touch. We had a lovely view of the Basel Gate from our room, too.

There was nothing I didn't like. The hotel was superb and I certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. We sat outside in the garden when we were waiting for our airport transfer, it was very nice and peaceful, even though it is on a main road. The hotel kindly stored our cases for us when we checked out. There is a bar, but we only had a soft drink and an ice cream when we were sat outside, so can't really give much information about that.

This moderately priced hotel delivered more than we expected. They were able to accommodate an early check-in which was wonderful. The room was clean and comfortable and spacious. It took a couple minutes for us Americans to figure out how to operate the bathtub and shower, but that only made us laugh. The location was wonderful. The included breakfast buffet was a very nice bonus. I highly recommend this hotel. Make sure to visit the botanical gardens right across the street. That was an unexpected treat.
