Only a 10 minute walk from trai n staiton. Reception staff were very helpful. Apartment clean and well stocked with kitchen essentials.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Staycity Aparthotels Birmingham City Centre was so poor that I feel other travellers deserve to know what to expect.
My wife and I arrived just before check-in and were allocated Room 108. The problems started immediately. The door handle was loose and hanging, clearly in need of maintenance, and both key cards we were given did not work. I went back downstairs to report this straight away to avoid any suggestion that we had caused the damage. The receptionist did come up with new keys and acknowledged the handle issue, offering to send maintenance. As we were staying only one night, we agreed it could be fixed after we left.
Unfortunately, once properly inside the room, we realised the problems went far beyond the door. The apartment felt poorly cleaned and generally neglected. There were visible marks and stains, and the overall impression was dated and cheap. Most importantly, it looked nothing like the photos advertised online. The layout was also not as expected — instead of a double bed, the room had two single beds plus sofa beds.
We returned to reception and were moved to Room 222. Sadly, the second room was no real improvement. Although it had a double bed, the overall condition and decor were even more disappointing. The sofa beds looked worn and outdated, the furnishings felt cheap, and the kitchen equipment and utensils were randomly placed in cupboards, giving the impression of rushed or careless cleaning. The room did not feel fresh, clean, or well maintained.
At that point, both of us felt uncomfortable staying there. The photos used to promote these apartments are, in our opinion, misleading and do not reflect the reality of the rooms we were shown.
When we informed reception that we wanted to leave, we were told the rooms are “very similar” and were offered a paid upgrade, which felt unreasonable given the condition of what we had already seen. In the end, we left the property and had to book alternative accommodation at short notice that same evening.
Overall, this was a very disappointing and stressful experience, and we would not stay here again.
