I think we got a cheeky little upgrade because the room was huge! Spotless, the soaps and things smelt gorgeous. Beautiful little touches in the room too. Staff so friendly and courteous, can’t do enough to help. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Would love to stay again.

Lovely heritage 5 star building let down by indifferent facilities. Specifically a large bedroom became tiny because it was over stuffed with furniture. The bedside table had a radio on ith that was as large as the table. Buffert breakfast was a mean spread of poor quality produce. Cooked breakfast was marginally better. Simple adgustments would make it a much better experience.

Room was lovely and in a great location however the room was cold, after speaking with the staff on several occasions and them sending maintenence to the room this wasnt fixed. So a cold stay for us!

The room is amazing . However the clumsy check in and terrible bar service in the evening let the stay down. The Bar was unwelcoming by the servers, we ordered our drink and went up stairs a very disappointing experience

A truly beautiful building in a great location with period features, glamorous cabaret bar, all staff friendly and helpful. Amazingly efficient lifts! Only suggestion is that guests are advised that they should book for the Fri & Sat cabarets due to popularity. Thank you.

We booked for in advance for a planned festive shopping trip to Birmingham and chose the Grand as it was in a great location and looked wonderful. We had hoped to start our evening with a few drinks in the beautiful bar before dinner. Sadly this was not possible as the hotel only allow guests to use the bar if they’ve made a reservation. We were not made aware of this at the time of booking or when we checked in! This was a big let down as we could see the bar had available seating later in the evening because people had reserved but not arrived. I think the hotel needs to rethink this policy as you are losing customers who would otherwise have spent in the hotel bar and enjoyed the full enjoyment of the hotel setting.

Staff pleasant and welcoming. Room clean and tidy but the little touches of a shower mat and a small bottle of fresh milk in the fridge showed that they had clearly thought of all those little things that make the finishing touches to your stay.

This hotel is beautiful, at the moment it is stunningly decorated for Christmas. Our room was comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was lovely and there was plenty of choice. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.

We have stayed several times before at the Grand but this time the experience was not as good. In the bathroom there was only one robe. There was no complimentary water in the room. The Cadbury chocolate bars have been replaced by generic biscuits. The service in Madelaines bar was very slow and chaotic. There used to be local Birmingham beers available in the bar. All of these are small things but it’s no longer the great experience you’d expect from the Grand Hotel in Birmingham. All the little Birmingham specific and other extra touches that made staying there really special have gone. I hope it’s a blip and not a trend toward becoming just another average hotel.
