It was lovely hotel and very clean

The building site rubbish out side out window Found the breakfast over priced for what it was and the sausages where under cooked and bacon burnt

Very comfortable stay in a stylish, well located gem of a hotel.

The hotel was in an excellent location - in a very central location close to the station, but also had n an attractive part of the city, and not noisy. The room was a great size, and stylishly decorated and furnished. The bathroom was smart and very large, with a bath and a fab shower. The breakfast was excellent, with a lot of choices. The rooms all had names of wines.

Dirty, Dark, Dismal, and Disappointing

Quality of Room (Rosemount) - the view from the window was of scaffolding and netting. We had a choice of 3 rooms, this was the least worst. Rosemount was very dark and dingy. The carpet was incredibly stained, topped off with marks from an iron. The fixtures and fittings were very tired, scratches, marks and chips on many items. The bathroom was cold and dank. Really don't expect to see mould around the bath taps, shower screen and tiles. The tea/coffee tray located on a shelf in a very dark wardrobe. Why not put lights within so you can see to put the kettle on? The breakfast room was uninviting and lacked atmosphere. Paper tablecloths!!! Struggled to see out of the window as it was very very dirty and window ledge full of dust and debris. Breakfast very disappointing. Hotel lacked general cleanliness, internal glass doors very dirty and smeared. Whole hotel looks very tired, dreadful value for the high price paid.

Bed was huge and comfortable - few little niggles in the room that could be improved

The staff on reception and in the bar were wonderful so friendly and helpful. The size of the bed was ridiculous in a good way! and very very comfortable

There were a few bits in the room that needed attention, the towel rail didn't work, one lf the pulls foe the blind behind the bed was on the desk in the room (seems someone had accidentally broken it and then not replaced it). There were two heaters in the room so we're assuming there may have been previous heating issues. I also find the bathroom layout slightly odd - the shower and bath are great but the bath feels oddly shoved in the leftover space. It would have made more sense to extend the elevated shower platform all the way across (remove the right hand wall of glas separating the shower from the bath) and have the bath on the platform almost within the shower area - it's a big enough space to do this and would work a lot better / aesthetically better too

Comfortable and good value for money

Lovely converted old hospital . Friendly staff. Comfy bed and bed linen . Shower excellent . Very good breakfast and very helpful with gluten free dietary restrictions.

Our room could have done with a bit of decor update - carpet was stained,chips and knocks on tables and furniture .

The location was great, everything we needed was within walking distance so no taxis required. Bar staff were very friendly and had one of the best Expresso Martinis to date! Bath was lovely and deep (I’m very tall) so very relaxing.

We were not made aware prior to our visit that there would be scaffolding around the property! I appreciate work needs to be done, but it was right outside our bedroom window. If we were told then I would have asked to be moved to not look out to that. Breakfast was very disappointing - not the usual Hotel Du Vin standard we have received before in other hotels. Scrambled eggs burnt and missing ingredients on the plate. Continental options were very limited and not replenished. Biggest issue the parking! We should have received a 55% discount from the hotel with car park you recommend and we did not get this. We didn’t realise there would be an issue until we had left the hotel and checked out. The hotel did not answer the phone to help me so I had no choice in paying the full £35!!!! I have emailed the hotel this morning with images of receipts and have not had a response as of yet.

Very nice, but not as good as the 1st time

Scaffolding covering the entire property, perhaps would be nice to let visitors know prior to arriving. There was mould in the top corner of our bathroom which wasn’t particularly nice to see. We had some free standing radiators placed in our room, not sure if this was to do with the current obvious repair works? Wouldn’t normally expect that at this price point for a room

not the best value for money

Good location in nice part of town. staff friendly. hotel clean. beds are amazingly comfy. pastries at breakfast were fresh and tasty.

hotel is dingy and poorly lit. rooms lack attention to detail (example, pelmets are larger than blinds so light seeps through all night). a suite is just a larger room (but should be 2 rooms plus bathroom). no instructions on use of safe. wardrobes too small (not enough space for 2 ppl to hang clothes. bathroom too small, only one sink and enough room for one persons toiletries. rooms well appointed but lacking sophistication. breakfast host difficult to understand (tho v nice chap). breakfast hot food was ok but nothing exceptional (tried eggs benedict). only found out about cigar lounge after we left as it wasn't obvious (pity as I like a cigar). at almost £700 for two nights would have expected more. there are beautiful hotels (the grand), restaurants (gaucho) and bars scattered around the area competing for trade, but this hotel and its facilities simply don't measure up against these more glittering attractions

Perfect choice for Dark Academia vibes

I chose it as a good balance between being in the city for the evening but with a 10 minute walk to the New Street station for going to the airport in the morning. I also loved the decor and menu options in the bar. The bed was very comfortable and the linens are top quality.

Lovely hotel but bathroom was poorly designed with insufficient space.

Quality Hotel

This is a really nice hotel (have stayed a number of times). Large well furnished room (deluxe) with walk in shower and stand alone bath. Spotlessly clean with quality fittings. Staff are always friendly, professional and willing to help.

Only reason I didn't score 10 was central heating not working in bedroom. Electric heaters in room which heated the main bedroom area but obviously couldn't be used in bathroom. In spite of this had a very nice stay and would recommend.

Breakfast good with a wide variety of foods. The bar is a lovely space. Staff pleasant and helpful.

No gluten free bread for bread despite me informing you prior to my visit. Lunch options poor for vegetarian/- a bowl of sloppy soup like vegetables Room outdated and definitely not luxurious. Room too small. Lamp on side table way too big Bed did not accommodate my partner who is 6 ft he found it very uncomfortable. Carpets are dirty and old in the corridors leading to the bedrooms.

Lovely hotel shame about the leak in the ceiling.

The hotel was in a great location, rooms was spacious and comfortable and staff were very friendly.

There was a leak in our room , we told reception and they said they would look into it. When we got back they said they had looked at it and it was no longer leaking as it wasnt raining. it rained in the night and the dripping noise from the leak kept us awake. We thought we would have at least been offered another room or a discount on the one we had given we had paid quite a bit for the room in the first place. It felt like we were just fobbed off as it wasn't raining anymore.

I'd recommend and I'd stay again

Breakfast was lovely, staff were great, polite, attentive. The rom was a little tired but nice and clean, decent decor and the bed was lovely and comfy.

The radiator in the bathroom was leaking - I highlighted this to the staff and they simply said they'd put a towel down. They were having building work done and gave us a free drink for the disruption- the disruption was fairly minimal until first thing in the morning when it was a little loud. Otherwise a lovely stay

Great location, comfortable bed. Lovely staff. Complimentary cocktails as it was my birthday. Lovely breakfast.

Door into hotel is very heavy and hard to open, last step out of the hotel is very deep, no warning.
