The staff were friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was amazing.
The room was spacious and clean.
The bed!!! I suggest the owners try to spend a night in one!! We knew the music would keep us up late which was to be expected when we booked, but that wasn't the cause of us both having two or three hours broken sleep each night because the mattress was so bad due to the springs being so prominent that we came away with sore ribs, sore backs and bags under our eyes.
It's a shame because it would have been perfect.
We will not be returning.

A perfect location in the middle of Bowness
The room we stayed in was on the top floor, which was great. Especially, on a weekend when the night club was open. Thank you for that. The breakfast was perfect. plenty to eat and the staff were very accommodating. Nice to have 10% discount on food and drinks as guests of the hotel.

Hotel was clean and room/bathroom were clean and refreshed in the day.
Although warned it was noisy at night in the description it was ok, did hear some stuff but not asked as expected
Staff all very friendly, helpful and polite
No hooks for any items such as coats, hangers etc
Room.heating was hard to work (although we did get it eventually) and we had the fire exit not a window and we had to prop it open for air.
The room was also the fire exit for the floor which we weren't advised of.

From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The décor beautifully reflects the historic charm of the Lake District, with its wooden beams and rustic features, yet it also incorporates modern touches that ensure comfort and convenience. The balance between tradition and contemporary style is spot on – a true home away from home.
The rooms were spacious, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully equipped with all the amenities you might need. The blend of classic charm and modern updates in the design made the stay both stylish and cosy. The bed was comfortable, guaranteeing a great night’s sleep, and the little details, from the plush towels to the locally sourced toiletries, added a touch of luxury.
One of the highlights of my visit was the warm and attentive staff. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect and were always on hand. Being in Bowness, the hotel's location couldn’t be more ideal – just a short stroll to the sparkling shores of Lake Windermere and close to local shops, restaurants, and attractions. It's the perfect base to explore everything this beautiful part of the Lake District has to offer.
And of course, I can't forget to mention the food! The on-site pub has a wonderfully cosy and traditional feel, and the menu offers a delicious range of hearty, freshly prepared meals. Paired with a great selection of drinks and the overall ambiance, dining here was an absolute treat. Overall, The Stag's Head is a charming, characterful retreat with just the right blend of tradition and modernity. Whether you're visiting Windermere for a romantic getaway, a family trip, or just a peaceful escape to nature, this place is an absolute must.
Parking was a bit limited in the area, so plan ahead if you’re driving as spaces in the car parks are limited.

Nothing. Hotel was filthy and nothing like photos I didn’t even stay not even stay I left immediately trying to get refund but hotel is ignoring me. I have photos of proof.

The room was old and dated. The shower didnt change temperature and was far too hot . There were lights outside the room that never turned off and the curtains didn’t stop the light coming through. People were arguing outside the room door at 3am. The property stunk of smoke.

Awful security . Literally the worst doormen I’ve ever seen. They walk around like storm troopers and even have handcuffs. Make it a very intimidating atmosphere and they must have a load of trouble to have this much security

Twin beds were smaller than standard singles which meant 2 adult females could barely fit, they are more like child cots width wise.
We were greeted by police and 2 bouncers on the front door to the hotel who made it known they felt sorry for us staying there as we entered after dinner.
A patron was arrested at 2am for assaulting a police officer.
Dirty headboard and carpets covered in stains, broken window blind in the bathroom meant people on the street could see you in the shower.

It’s not boutique and plush but price reflects that! Clean room, lovely staff good breakfast and a traditional pub… stayed here many times, it’s got character and we love the place, also Sunday night karaoke is mint 😄

It’s centrally located, not the easiest when driving and parking isn’t the easiest (or wasn’t during my stay) The hotel allowed early checkin via prior arrangement which was a huge help. The room was reasonably large, clean and although it looked newly decorated, seemed dated. The bed was huge.
When I got back from an evening out there was karaoke on until the early hours. It was extremely loud. The bed, although huge, wasn’t the comfiest
