Good location, friendly and kind staff and good food!

It was a bit old and outdated for the money, but well maintained and clean

Friendly staff, comfortable bed, hot water on demand, tea in the bedroom, a window we could fully open, great menu choices. The manager lifted my case up the stairs for me which I didn’t expect.

On arrival, the process was quick and the receptionist was helpful and polite. The room was clean, comfortable and the bathroom was also clean and up to standard.

If I hired a car from Birmingham airport and was on my way to Northampton, it would be highly inappropriate if a mechanic from the hire company caught me up on the motorway, blasted his horn and demanded I pull over so he can do a bit of maintenance on the car. So I wasn't too impressed with the hotel, when after an hour into my stay to get a bit of peace and quiet away from my family for a few hours, someone knocked quite loudly on the door and wanted to come in to work on something in the bathroom. I told him he couldn't come in because I was in the middle of something. In retrospect, I suppose i should have known better and put the do not disturb sign on the door. But even so, I found it an intrusion. He must have known I was in there. As in my car analogy, the room, like the car, should be maintained and ready to go for my hire period without me being bothered and disturbed for any extra maintenance. After all, I did pay enough money to expect a bit of privacy. After that, I could not relax for the rest of my stay, so I left early. I felt it was a wasted journey. Before I left, I checked out the function of everything in the bathroom and there was no problem with any of it, so i'm not sure what the man, who claimed to be from hotel management, was up to. The room was also a bit noisy, being above the bar and on the main road side, but that wasn't too much of a bother, whereas the unwanted knock on the door was.
