Lovely
The views
The shower was extremely hot and it couldn’t be regulated …
5.0 / 10.0
Below expectations, by far.
The beds were comfortable, it was very clean and that's about everything. The rest was pretty much mediocre to very poor example the shower and the fact we had no electricity.
The shower was definitely not up to expectations it was very poor the water rate and also we had no electricity in the room for the entire night. Honestly if it's cheap I do recommend going but don't spend anything more than like 100 euros to go not worth it. It will not meet the expectations if you pay anything more like we did for Halloween.

Not a bad location....nice room.
Room for 4....liked the layout. Same room but felt like 2 rooms
Very difficult to see address in the dark...not well marked and host was grumpy.

Disappointing at best.
number of beds suited our family. clean room, secure surroundings. the Bathroom was very clean.
Check in was not until 4:00 (late for a family traveling). The shower had no water pressure, it was a drip (literally, no exaggeration). The shower handle was broken (not related to the drip of water coming out). the floor and beds sqeeked, difficult not to wake others up. Paid parking not listed in description (cash only). Not at all good value for money.

nice room, but to loud for us
close to the action in Galway
nice view onto the water
coffee abd tea in the room
the noise - the big street is never quiet
even with windows closed and earplugs - try to get a room to the back
no free parking - it's 15€ extra per night
in Galway there is free parking during the night only (in some places)

Do not recommend
The location was the only appealing aspect of our stay
For the extortionate rate we paid for our two nights off-peak stay (sun/mon - €300) room only - no breakfast, we were extremely disappointed at the standard given we could have stayed in a hotel for same cost. The host was very uninviting and appeared disappointed when we were not willing to leave our car parked outside the residence for 15€ (cash only) per day. Very unexpected for a private residence. Television was the size of a postage stamp and wifi was inaccessible. The shower's water pressure was significantly poor and was unable to wash hair. Considerable waste of our money and time staying here. I felt uncomfortable to mention these major downfalls to the owner of the property given her unapproachable, frosty nature.

Shit
I’ve never written a review in my life. That’s not to say I haven’t had bad experiences, but nothing has ever bothered me enough to write one until now. After a one-night stay at The Lighthouse Galway, I’ve completely changed my mind.
We arrived in Galway early and believed check-in was at 2 PM. Just after 2 PM, we went to the property. The owner was down in the garage. As we pulled up,excited for our first night, she came out and, without any greeting, rudely asked who I was. I explained that I had a booking and that we were hoping to just leave the car and check in. She abruptly and aggressively responded, “I’ve sent you two messages saying check-in is at 4 PM. The town is that way you can go there.”
I explained that I hadn’t seen the messages, as I’d been travelling for 30 hours from Australia, and I apologized for not knowing. I tried to retrieve the messages, and she kept repeating that she had messaged me. She also told us that if we wanted to park the car, it would cost €15.
My partner then got out of the car and politely asked if there was any chance we could just use a toilet and quickly change clothes, as we had been travelling so long. Again, she rudely and aggressively repeated that check-in was at 4 PM—“huffing and puffing” the whole time. Her behaviour was nothing short of disgusting, especially toward two people who had paid to stay at her property.
We ended up changing in the car. When we looked out, she was shaking her head at us. Later, my partner asked again what time check-in ended, just in case we got stuck in town at dinner. We didn’t want to come back too late if no one was there. She replied, again rudely, “I’ve already emailed you several times check-in is 4 to 9:30”Then she repeated, “The town is that way you can go there.”
For clarity: I went onto Booking.com and saw no messages in my inbox. I only found them when I pressed "Send Property a Message"—they then showed up. So, until that point, I had never received them.
the messages, and not once did she mention she would only be there until 9:30 PM. She only stated that check-in was from 4 PM. Yes, I missed it—but not intentionally.
I can honestly say I have never been spoken to like that as a customer in my life. You build a reputation and identity for your business through how you treat your guests and her behaviour made me want to forfeit the booking altogether and stay elsewhere. I didn’t even feel comfortable staying there, but my partner convinced me not to waste the money.
I want to be fair. The location is close to the bus and train stations but is still about a 20-minute walk from the city centre. My partner and I are both fit and athletic, and even we found the walk a bit of a stretch so anyone saying it’s 5 minutes from town is simply wrong.
The room itself was lovely: clean, tidy, and with a nice view from the balcony and bed. However, the bed was uncomfortable hard, with no real springs. One side of the mattress had completely sunk down.
Parking is very limited and costs an additional €15. The spaces are tight, and payment is cash only as the owner, once again, rudely explained.
All in all, I’ve stayed in Galway before and would absolutely stay elsewhere next time. I do not recommend supporting this business or giving this woman your money.

It was a cozy relaxing stay
It was extremely clean. The beds were extremely comfy and the facilities were lovely such as hairdryers and tea laid out

Would I stay again prob not , host was not the best
Room size was good and good location
Had to pay for parking 30 euro extra , feel because parking is outside door of property should be included . Greeting from host stand off ish , asked for iron , she went into our room to remove it later that evening, think she should have 1 for every room as there is only about 10 rooms. Did not like the fact she felt she could come and go as she pleased through our room while we were not there

A great launching pad close to the downtown fun.
Great location and enjoyed having a water view.
There was limited parking onsite.

Okay, but probably won’t stay here next time
Location is good close to city center but quiet even though it’s on a busy street. The views are very nice. We got one of the few parking spaces available.
We were unable to get the shower to run warm or hot.

Very clean and friendly staff!
It was very clean and comfortable!
The walls were a bit thin so we were woken up by people in the hallway

Lovely room with a view of the water and walking distance from the center.
The location was great, just a 15 minute walk from the city center and all of the fun pubs. The view was lovely and the room was comfortable.
We had some trouble with controlling the temperature of the shower.

A lovely short break with friends to the fantastic City of Galway
Centrally located great for public transport. The owners made themselves known to us when we arrived. A few problems with the room we had booked but the alternate room was great.
No problems what so ever

Girls getaway in Galway
Friendly staff, clean rooms- beautiful view.

Pleasant and would stay there again.
The room and location were both very good and what we expected. Although the property was on a busy road, the house itself is set back far enough that we didn’t hear the noise. It was an easy walk to the central bus station and to where we wanted to go as tourists. The property owner was friendly based on the brief interaction we had with her.
It would be nice to be able to drop off bags before the 16:00 check in, but we knew ahead of time it wasn’t possible and found stored our luggage elsewhere. The WiFi was inconsistent, which did make it difficult for both of us to do some necessary tasks.

Very nice stay in nice B&B.
Using a top sheet on bed was wonderful. Too many just use comforter which is too hot. A bit of a walk in the rain to get there, but so be it
A bit longer walk than I expected but wouldn't have been so horrible except for rain. Also, apparently some system to turn hot water down at night. I support conserving energy but should be a notice for same. Due to work, I came in at night, worked till 2 AM (time zones) and then went to shower, however water wouldn't be very hot by then. Just let guests know

Good room in good location.
It was a nice room and handy to the town.
The shower was very hot. If you want to have a cold shower you’re out of luck. It’s a stretch to call a kettle and tea bags and coffee sachets a kitchenette.

This beautiful location is within walking distance of the center.
The location was perfect, the view was beautiful, there was an option to pay for parking on site.
It was really warm at night and the blanket was really thick so I didn’t have the best sleep.

A clean place to rest your head
Clean room, comfortable bed
To park at the property was 15 euro a day upfront in cash, for a very small parking area. Charged the same as parking town, and at least a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Galway.
Also lost the personal touch of a guest house, wifi connection was not clear and no local recommendations. Not essential but normally a benefit for staying in a guest house as opposed to a hotel.
Although not the fault of the building you could hear everybody in the house as the walls were so thin, if you are a light sleeper this would wake you up.

This accommodation was not what we had enticipated
Room had a view
No parking near by - double yellow lines on both sides of the road. Host had 5 parks inside her property which she wanted 15euro in cash before we got the room key on top of room price. The bed was very uncomfortable and we had to drag our luggage up a very narrow staircase.

Good location and room - somewhat expensive
Good location and clean room. Very welcoming host.
No issues to note - minor thing: hot water took a very long time coming out of the shower. I disagree with making people pay for parking.

Brilliant stay. Galway. Cliffs of Mohair brill.
Lovely accommodation with nice balcony. Bed was a bit small and noisy traffic. Good location.
Bigger bed. Option of breakfast would be a bonus

There was no fridge in the room, could be a nice addition.

Perfect Galway Getaway
It was adorable! We got a room with a sea view and we enjoyed just having a drink on the balcony. Not to mention it was close to pubs and restaurants! The staff was friendly and check in and check out was painless!

Ok for overnight but otherwise skip it
The room was decorated cute as was the house. The view of the water was nice
The bathroom and shower were very small. You couldn’t wash your face without getting water on the floor. Owner was upset when we asked for an additional towel, 2 people 2 towels. Also they went into and cleaned our rooms even though the do not disturb was on our door. This was unexpected

Was fantastic for a short stay.
View out outdoor garden area was ok. Acceptable walk to main city areas which was handy. Host stayed up extra late to accommodate my late arrival and was pleasant about it. Good size room for one. Very comfortable bed and nice crispy linen.
No cold space to store beverages etc. if I had been travelling with my friend, beds would be too close together. Squeaky floor boards made me conscious of annoying others while moving around the room. Very small mould spots in corner of shower.

Very good
Great place ! Very clean, as advertised - family room was big enough for us 6 adults.
Paying parking for 15 euros/night was an unexpected added cost.
No mini-fridge in the room, which considering that there was no breakfast provided, would have been appreciated.
