Very relaxed vibe. A quiet environment perfect for socialising or keeping to yourself. The hostel organise many tours and activities throughout the week. The free breakfast is amazing! The staff are incredibly kind ❤️

Overall very good!

Rooms are spacious and comfy, bathrooms are big enough, quite clean but not super clean. Always papers in the toilets and to dry your hands! The staff is super friendly and welcoming and the food and breakfast are delicious! Met lots of nice people there as well! The activities are great and good price quality! Super cozy shared area downstairs with the pool and lots of places to chill and meet people! Highly recommend !

Had to ask to change the mattress sheet because it was not clean the first night and the bathroom could be cleaner.

Very comfy dorms

Really good hostel! Super comfy and huge beds in the dorms. Easy to organise day trips and the pool area is nice. Good value for money compared to Puri Garden which has a similar offering for more money.

Only one bathroom area for everyone at the hostel so not enough toilets/showers for the amount of people (had to queue for a sink just to brush my teeth before bed). Bar staff taking breakfast orders were rude.

Very well maintained. Great activities in the hostels and staff very helpful and friendly. Does get booked up, but I was lucky to get a spot! Really loved this place. Great memories and met some awesome people.

AMAZING WOULD RECOMMEND

Everything is amazing, beds, food, staff, free massage everyday, pool, litteraly the best hostel i would of stayed the whole time! Very calm which I prefer, no big party’s and mostly ladies. I was in the Komodo room with only girls and it was perfect. Beds are so clean, comfortable and big. Staff also helps you with the booking of activities if you need which is nice. Also good is not too expensive and you pay directly at the bar which I find better than having to charge a wristband like at the farm hostel… I can’t forget about the free breakfast! Options of : pancakes, eggs and toast or a bowl of fruit which is amazing!! Coffee is amazing there as well.

Only downside is the location which is a little far from the central ubud, but you can take a grab easily. Just consider the traffic. There is also a lot of cute restaurant around! The only comment I have, would be to add some more storage space in the rooms and in the bathroom. Shelves to put your clothes in the showers and more hooks and shelves in the rooms. Also, I would add more sinks (I know that’s not necessarily doable) but there is only 3 sinks for the whole hostel which gets crowded to brush teeth etc. Over all amazing tho.

Loved it a looot!

I originally planned to stay at Kuna for just a couple of days during my solo trip… and ended up staying for over a week — that’s how amazing this place is! This is, without a doubt, the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The staff are absolutely lovely — warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything. A huge thank you to everyone working at Kuna — you made me feel like part of the family 🥹 Your kindness and support meant the world to me. The beds are spacious and super comfy, and the rooms and bathrooms were always clean and well-maintained. There’s also a bar with great food and drinks at very reasonable prices. The location couldn’t be better — just 5 minutes to the Monkey Forest and 1 minute to the nearest shop. As a bonus, we were offered free 15-minute massages, which were surprisingly amazing! Breakfast is included, with three delicious options to choose from every morning. Even if you don’t have a set plan, there’s always something fun to do here — the hostel organizes daily activities that make it easy to meet people and experience something new every day. I also met so many fellow backpackers from around the world — it was such a great community vibe. Whether you arrive solo or with friends, you’ll never feel alone here. For me, staying at Kuna wasn’t just about the place — it was about the people. It felt like home, and I’ll carry these memories with me forever. 💛

Would not recommend

Left after only one night. Booked for four. Think that says it all.

- I read the reviews about the bathrooms beforehand but you have to go through the hallway, down the stairs, into the open air and across a mushy fake grassmat to the toilets. It was raining during the night which made it way worse but it really is an inconvenience. - The sheets were dirty. There were stains on them and hairs from the previous guest. - The bed had a bit of a dent in the middle and was overall quite hard. - The location is shit. If you want to walk anywhere you have to walk along the shortcut through the monkey forest. They do attack people and you get warned by the staff but otherwise you have to go around it which takes way longer. - It seems to attract a young crowd who mainly come there to drink and party. Could've been my luck. - After 10 you are not allowed in the common areas anymore and they just switch off all the lights which is very weird. Not worth the price.

Highly Recommend!

This hostel was one of the best I've ever stayed at! The main highlight was the staff were all so friendly and accommodating. I had to be up early on the day of my check-out, and they arranged for my breakfast (which was always yummy & so was the food you could order from the bar) to be ready before I left so I could get a little extra sleep. The activities they offered were awesome, and I enjoyed how the space lent itself to being social if you wanted or solo if that was more your speed. The daily massage was something I looked forward to every day, and the rooms were great –– spacious beds and clean! I also loved the location because it was a quieter area with easy access to downtown. I'd for sure book here again.

There were no designated smoking areas, so anyone could smoke wherever they wanted. As a non-smoker, it was quite frustrating and uncomfortable to be in contact with second hand smoke involuntarily, especially because this happened at least twice a day.

Nice hostel, would probably choose somewhere more central next time

Beds in the dorms are a nice size as are the beds, and the outside area is a great sun trap. The hosts were really friendly. I also did a trip to My Batur with the hostel and the price was really decent and it was well organised.

I am not sure if it’s just the room and bed I was given but you can really clearly hear the street noise from inside. The WiFi was quite patchy in the rooms, although worked okay in the outside areas None of the room doors locked, which I found a bit odd. You get your own locker but anyone could walk into the rooms as they were all just left unlocked all day. It’s not that close to the centre of Ubud, it’s probably a 50min walk or 25/30 mins on a grab bike to get into the centre. The toilets are quite far away from the rooms and require you to cross the outside area every time. There’s also only the 4 showers and 4 toilets for the whole hostel which means there is sometimes a queue.

Very nice place to relax!

It's a beautiful and peaceful place! I really liked the big beds and the privacy you have in your dorm. The included breakfast is really good and it's a nice way to meet people at the shared breakfast table. The other food they serve at the bar is also very tasty They organize fun events such as Indonesian night and trivia night. The people working there are super nice and do everything to make you feel at home!

The bathroom is pretty far from the dorm which I found a bit inconvenient. The location of the hostel is not ideal. There are a lot of nice restaurants and massage places in the street but the real center of Ubud is quite far away. You can take a shortcut through the monkey forest, but that is very busy with scooters and monkeys.

For the price, a decent enough hostel, but I probably wouldn't stay again

Great value for money, nice communal spaces around the pool and on the upper decking. 10 bed dorm was fairly spacious, AC works well and there are 2 extra fans attached to the wall so easy to keep cool.

Shower block was very hot and humid (there is a big fan to ventilate but the block seems to somewhat trap the heat). It's also on the other side of the pool/bar (not next to the rooms), so just be aware to bring a bag to take toiletries and a change of clothes there when you take a shower. I actually used to walk back to my room to change as it was too hot to change in the shower block.

Beds super big and comfy- great air con in the room so you can get cozy at night under the duvet, lockers with key, personal light and curtain! Gorgeous pool area and social area upstairs Bathrooms have both hot and cold water and are very spacious! The staff were super smiley and friendly ! I stored my 70L backpack for 2 days free of charge when I went to Gili T! There are mopeds/taxis/restaurants all nearby within minuets walk!:)

Would really recommend for a solo traveller in Ubud!

Lots of events provided through the hostel that were great. I would really recommend the day trip that they put on. As a solo traveller I found this great to meet new people and see the area, and found it really good value for money. Really good free breakfast (especially the pancakes), and really good lunch / dinner food if you want to order separately. Daily free massage

Loved my stay at Kuna. Everything from the double bed, the vibe, the pool, the fluffiest pancakes you’ve ever eaten, the free massages, the staff! This place was so well thought out!

The only very slight drawback is that it’s located a 7-10 minute scooter ride away from the main part of the city.

Exceptional

I really enjoyed the vibe overall. The staff is so great and nice, had great chats with one of the guys from the bar. The food is also good, but a bit pricey for Ubud. The thing that I loved is that they have Brazilian dishes on the menu (being Brazilian this is a plus). rooms are big enough, beds are comfy and large. Breakfast is good too, simple options, but the banana pancakes are superb.

Being a person that pees a lot, even during the night, I didn’t like that the toilet was on the other side of the room, so you have to cross the garden/pool area. Many nights I ended up holding in cause I just didn’t want to go down the stairs and cross the main area. But honestly this is a small detail, and something you can deal with for a few days.
