Firstly the staff were excellent, they were so friendly and helpful , they couldn’t do enough for us . The breakfast was a let down , we only went twice and never finished it either time . The cutlery is quite dirty and the dining area itself could do with a good clean. The monkeys are also always on the watch and one jumped on the table and took some toast one morning, the staff done all they could to keep them away afterwards. The bed was really cosy and we slept really well. It’s also a nice quiet destination. Beware of the monkeys before booking, they are everywhere. We couldn’t use our balcony as we were afraid of them , we also did not use the pool because the monkeys were around there too. It was a little annoying not being able to use the pool or balcony, the monkeys would sit on the table and stare into the room. They didn’t bother us too much but just be aware . Again the staff were amazing and we were always greeted coming and going.
Breakfast- food and cleanliness of dining area could be improved , dirty cutlery and ants on the table. There was a fly in my pancake one morning and we didn’t return for breakfast after this. The monkeys can be intimidating and we avoided using the balcony and pool because of them.

Well maintained rooms and common areas. Friendly and helpful staff.
Kadek at the front desk was extremely humble and sweet.
Although it wasn’t bad, the breakfast options can be improved.

Only the bed
Had booked a deluxe double room which is on the upper floors but noticed it only had one person listed not 2 so emailed to change to 2 people. Emailed the hotel and asked that it be facing the monkey forest so my grandson could see the monkeys on the balcony as this was a treat for my young grandson who was travelling with me. I didn't notice when they changed it to 2 people that they also changed the room.to superior double room.On arrival was given a room on the ground floor under the stairwell next to the storage room with a 4m high cement wall as the view only 1.5m from the balcony. Complained and was told the rooms were all booked out but I could cancel. It was 5.30pm at night, and we had no where else to go . About 10 minutes later was told I could get moved to the 2nd floor which I thought would be good but when no one came back went outside and was told they couldn't move me even though I had been told they could about 16 minutes earlier. Was told then that the manager had left so we had to accept the room. However another couple came in and asked to see the rooms upstairs ,the one I had booked mind you, while I was at reception and they were taken upstairs to see them But they had told me they didn't have any rooms upstairs left ? Was extremely upset so we went to dinner .The hotel had ruined our special trip. Paid $91 for the room and then saw a sign outside saying there was rooms available from $45 for the night...the only empty room was next to mine . On return tried to turn on the TV . It was a brand new tv but nothing was installed...no cable tv and no normal tv channels...everything said no signal .

Villa Sonia Bisma has such a great atmosphere! Nature lovers will love it here—my room overlooked the trees, and the canal right beside it added the perfect watery soundtrack. So peaceful
A wonderful stay overall! For future guests: if you love nature, this is ideal—just keep your balcony doors closed, as monkeys visit often. Also, adding more breakfast variety would make mornings perfect!

Friendly helpful staff. Room always tidy and clean. Nice view. Convenient location.
Hairdryer and iron would have been good and more coat hangers.

Spacious room
Spacious bathroom
Decent bed
Hot shower
Our room in particular was on the ground floor which was close to a river, there was no natural light in the room so made it dark and the level of damp in this room was extremely high. It had a very strong musty smell probably because of the damp. Any clothes left out in the room would become damp. We felt as though we were sleeping in a cave. Not for us and checked out a day earlier.

It was nice, good value, great location, staff were really friendly. I was on the 3rd floor and the monkeys literally walk all over the balcony and knock over tables to be prepared for that 🤣
The shower you really need to let the water run for 5-10mins for it to get hot. It does get hot it just takes awhile.

Everything! The distance to everything! Even walking to Monkey Forest 5 mins away. Choice of quiet or full on party a few short mins away, but quiet enough to relax by the pool. Staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend Villa Sonia Bisma, you won’t beat the price!

Very central
Power went out at the property which was out of their control, other hotels in area has generators. The pool was very outdated not like the pictures, our room was in third floor very dangerous stairs up to this, it was raining so very slippy

Central to everything in Ubud. Room was very clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly.
The monkeys from the forest would just wait for an opportunity to grab anything from the balcony ( breakfast, clothes, etc) so I just kept the doors closed and locked.

The staff was incredible always willing to help and go beyond their duties. They are truly a hard working bunch. It’s a shame how little these people make. They should be paid 3x the amount.
I didn’t care for their breakfasts or restaurant.
The high steps leading up to the hotel - no railing to hold on to. The slippery tile floors were treacherous especially when wet.

It is next to the Monkey forest and I love animals so I love to see the monkeys on my breakfast and all the time around they are jumping and looking for food, very sweet creatures. The staff is very nice in here I love them. The bed is super comfortable, and everything you can also find in walking distance like food, drinks.. The breakfast is not a big portion but you can choose from 3 varieties (all come with the orange juice and coffee or a tea). I felt very peaceful here once I was in my room
Just a few little details, sometimes you can hear the sounds from outdoor in the room quite much.

I'm really glad that I chose this place to spend my 2 days in Ubud, it was in the center and the monkey forest was only 5 minutes away. The room and bathroom were really big, staff were really helpful and kind, not to mention the affordable price that I payed to get all what I just mentioned! highly recommended.

My husband and I live in Bali down in Uluwatu. We had friends visiting from the US who were staying in Ubud (plus we love little Ubud getaways) so we wanted to stay near them. I'd never stayed at Villa Sonia and I'm so glad we chose it — it was perfect, especially for the price. Super comfy beds, lovely room, beautiful little terrace, and the staff could not have been more accommodating, especially Kadek who helped us with our bags, organized a motorbike for us, and made us feel super welcome. Plus, the area over on Jalan Bisma is SO cool. Our friends were staying at Bisma 8 up the road for over 10x the price and we thought Villa Sonia was just as cool (actually, cooler — it's way more Bali). We'll definitely be back!
Nothing - all perfect

Huge very clean room.
Comfortable bed.
Fridge was useful to store food and drinks
Excellent location with lots of shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Cannot eat/ drink outside as there are lots of monkeys.
Laundry service extremely expensive so needed to go elsewhere and could not rent a scooter from the hotel but there were places nearby.
Pool was not the cleanest and does not get much sun.
