I would return here again

Thank you for a wonderful stay. We had a great time at your renovated house; the location in the heart of the city and the view of the Tsarevets fortress were amazing. The rooms were cozy and exactly as pictured, and we appreciated that everything was within walking distance. The check-in process was very easy, and we found your instructions regarding parking and local attractions very helpful. Although it was a bit cold in February, the heater and air conditioning provided were very effective. I also wanted to share a few minor suggestions for improvement. The bathroom is very spacious, but it was a bit cold and could benefit from a shower curtain. Additionally, one of the electrical plugs near the bed in our room needs to be fixed; it is still functional, but it is loose and almost falling off the wall.

Value for money accommodation in the historical city centre.

Room exactly as in the pictures, very cozy and quite warm, with nice view, a spacious bathroom with basic amenities, a coffee maker and capsules, kettle and tea, blackout curtains. Guidelines from the owner on checking in and where to park were definitely helpful.

As it is a traditional residence there is no proper soundproofing, so there might be noise coming from other rooms. The Wi-Fi wasn't stable at all times and all areas but generally OK. We didn't like that we had to make the beds ourselves (put the duvet covers), especially after a long, tiring drive. Also, parking can be tricky during high season.

Wonderful stay

Second visit to Tsaravets Residence (first was in 2022). Love the spacious rooms and amazing balcony - the view is spectacular. Roomy bathroom. Easy self check-in process. Walking distance from all sites in Veliko Tarnovo and ~10 BGN taxi from the train station. Incredible view of the light show from the Tsaravets Fortress - much better than standing in the town square (or paying for the panorama).

100% doesn't impact us personally but the steep, twisty stair situation would be a problem for some visitors.

Deceptive advertisement

People who left all those raving reviews are either dishonest or never stayed in a good hotel. It’s deceptive advertisement to say the least. So we didn't stay there. We just looked at it and left. Here’s the details. An abridged property description from the vendor, just the major points: “Private bathroom, Balcony, Garden view, Landmark view, City view, River view, ………… Outdoor dining area, Patio, ……….. Entire unit located on ground floor, Upper floors accessible by stairs only, ……..” We opted for the “Studio with Terrace, Entire unit located on ground floor.” The ground floor turned out to be an under-ground floor, accessible by a steep 3-meter high ladder like the one on WWII military ships (see the picture). So taking a large suitcase down those stairs is a challenge. The room is actually a finished basement without windows but with a door leading to the “Balcony” aka “Patio” where you can enjoy “Balcony, Garden view, Landmark view, City view, River view.” And as an added bonus you have a view of a half-demolished dilapidated abandoned building right next to it which may be inhabited by homeless squatters. It’s a serious safety problem. And although the owner claimed there were no incidents in the past year there is a thick iron door as a protective measure, I guess, just in case (see the picture: far left the "Landmark view;" center the dilapidated building; lower right the Iron Door). Finally, the parking instructions on a nearby street do not mention the fact that the road from that street to the hotel is a pretty steep 300-meter uphill path. We had to stop a few times to take a rest.

Good location and balcony view of Tsaravets fortress was wonderful.

The stairs down to the balcony suite - was warned that these would be challenging but they were really quite unsafe. We did not have luggage and it would be impossible to carry down these stairs

AMAZING VIEW!!!!!!

The view on this apartment is amazing!!!! We found paid parking about 300 km away. We did have to walk up hill but thats also why we were able to have a good view and the town appeared to be all hilly anyway. Going down the stairs does limit the accessibility for some people but for us it was fine. They are a little steep but nothing unmanageable.

Good and adventurous.

The location is great. The room is big and there is a beautiful terrace looking toward Teapezica and Carevec hills.

The stairs are very steep and narrow.There are not enough hangers for towels.

- smell of cigars/old smoke from cigars impregnated in curtains/furniture (for non-smokers as we were, it was pretty disturbing in the first night) -parking is not on the location, they will send you some locations where you can park IF you find space, NOT GUARANTEED BY THE ACCOMMODATION ( they will help you if you need any info about parking on the streets tho) - bed not very comfortable

Good place to stay

This place is in a renovated old building, right in the heart of the old town—just a 5-minute walk to Tsarevets Fortress. We stayed in a room with a terrace overlooking the fortress, which was a real highlight. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and everything was well cared for. Just a heads-up—parking can be a bit tricky

Exceptional with a wonderful view!

My husband and I spent 2 nights here and we absolutely loved it! First of all, the location is great, right in the center with everything you need around you. Second of all, the host was extremely helpful and friendly, gave us good details about parking. Third, the place itself has a wonderful vintage decor and it was super clean. And keeping the best for last: the view!! WOW! Worth every penny. We appreciated how the balcony was organized so you could sit at the bar at the window and get a nice look at that view, day or night. Completely recommend this place and if we visit again Veliko Tarnovo for a holiday we will stay here again.

Amazing style, culture and experience!

Great host, very kind and helpful. The location of the house is great, everything is at a walking distance. The house is beautifully restavrated to preserve the original style. The view is amazing and breathtaking. You could watch the Sound and Light show from the balcony.

Arriving late posed no issue thanks to their user-friendly self-check-in process. The host, who was incredibly accommodating, went out of their way to assist us. From helping us find a convenient parking spot to being on the line with us until we reached the hotel, their dedication was truly remarkable. Our studio accommodation exceeded expectations in terms of comfort, and the highlight was undoubtedly the spacious terrace that came with it. The host’s local insights added an extra layer of enjoyment to our trip, as we discovered charming places to explore based on their recommendations. In fact, any concerns we had, such as the staircase, paled in comparison to the exceptional service and overall experience.

My room was without view of Tsarevets - be careful which room you book; there is no bathtub as it is written; no big mirror in the room; the noise from the street was significant

In the historical center

The best thing about this location is the location. It's located right between the city center (with the shop, restaurants, etc.) and the historical center (fortress). You can get in 10 minutes walk where you need. The apartments itself have enough space, all basic stuff, air conditioner & heating. The host is very welcoming.

The beds were a little bit uncomfy. There were not enough sockets (e.g. near the sofa). The terrace have perfect view, but no roof at all. There are som windows without curtains/sun covers, so there are a lot of light in the room in the morning. The stairs to the room is quite steep and uncomfortable, with low ceiling. Fridge and cofeemachine is outside of the room. Wife found very small scorpion in the room. Parking could be found in 500 meters (if it's not the rush hour), it's not a problem, just note.
