An excellent budget homestay

The Shooting Star is a lovely budget homestay. It was basic, clean, and comfortable. Wayan, who made breakfast and cleaned, was lovely. It's conveniently located near a well stocked convenience store that also sells a good selection of wines, including a selection of bubbly! There's also excellent warungs that offered a variety of meals. Vegans shouldn't have any difficulty here.

This wasn't a reflection of Shooting Star, but make certain you pack thongs to wear along the beach and into the water. It's mainly rocks and pebbles leading into the water, and there's quite a bit of discarded fishing equipment. So, walking barefoot isn't advised. Also, it's pretty rural, so if the sound of roosters before dawn and various other animal sounds is something you can't tolerate, perhaps consider somewhere else. I love the cacophony of chooks, so it didn't bother me at all.

Perfect for me (would have liked a bit more sleep)

Great overall. Perfect location. Booked beach view room which was so good. Nice daily breakfast and coffee. Wonderful all around.

Not the fault of the property but I’m a light sleeper and there are roosters nearby who keep crowing very early starting at 4 am so had disturbed sleep each night. But if that doesn’t matter - all good!

Great location just steps from the beach with amazing views of Mt. Agung. Sweetest hosts ever. Best pancakes I’ve ever had on-site, brought right to my room! Good AC and wifi. Close to many delicious restaurants. I did not want to leave!

Amed's hidden secret

Close to the beach, quiet as set back from the road. Also it is next to a historical Amed salt works. Don't worry it's all done by hand. The room has a jug, fridge and cups. Filtered water is supplied and just ask for anything else you need. Great value for money.

Room is very basic. Bed was quite hard and only had a sheet for a cover, something with a little weight would have been nicer. Shower was a bamboo pipe, no shower head, but plenty of hot water. Rooms quite difficult to find as behind other building and no signs. Please let your host know arrival time and she will meet you out front.

No scoosher for cleaning yourself on toilet. Cockrels thinking dawn starts at 3am and every hour thereafter!! Not staying longer

Highly recommended

Very cozy room and you can find everything you need. Location is good. You can’t really see it on the main road as it is right on the beach. The staff is lovely and very helpful, Wayan is the best!

Great location, right on the beach and close to many eateries. Clean swimming beach. This was the first place we stayed that had a kitchen. Friendly staff and locals. Many fishing boats outside the accommodation, we hired one for a sail. Fisherman and locals enjoy chatting with us and finding out where we were from etc

Worth the money and would stay again

Quaint ,very clean refurbished room. Wayan a lovely host without being intrusive. Great breakfast and very adequate . Excellent value. Quiet area an older Bali which we loved.

Building in front of rooms 2 and 3, really no view. Would have loved a sun Lounge to go on beach, even a beach chair.

Th room was clean and decorated really nicely. The staff were friendly. Amed is a really sweet town and this place is fairly central.

It is set back from the ocean with a building blocking most rooms, so you don't get the sea breezes, and it gets really hot. I would opt for ocean front if I came again. The mattress was a little firm for my liking. Not the quietest spot in the morning.

It is as clean and well maintained as it looks on the pictures. The location is perfect close to the diving schools and restaurants, but a little bit in the back so there is no noise.

I am a repeat guest and always enjoy coming back. Great place to swim at the beach in front. Close to many awesome options for lunch and dinner. Live music nearby many evenings. Great to snorkel in the area. Enjoyed watching salt harvesting.

The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. The location is stunning, we had the sea view room and it is definitely worth the extra couple of dollars. A nice simple breakfast with a view at a time that suits you. 10m to the beach and a great spot for sunset.

Very nice.

A beautiful place in the centre of Amed. Spotlessly clean, refridgerator, coffee- and tea facilities, very nicely decorated. An awesome view (ocean view). Very nice and helpful personnel. Close to supermarkets and restaurants. All in all, highly recommendable.

Superb

In the centre of Amed you will find this hidden gem. The (partly) owner is from Canada, a very creative and bubbly lady who likes details. Actually, she made a lot of the decorations herself. The room is spotlessy clean, close to supermarket and restaurants. I can definitely recommend this beautiful place which is right on the beach. The lady will help you with anything you need! Very hospitable!

They helped us in every moment. The room is basic but is nice if you dont want to go in a luxury accomodation :)

The access is not the best. Nevertheless, the family helped us to bring our luggage to the room. Its located close to the beach but it doesnt have sea views.

Good place.

Good relatively clean and basic room with big fridge and AC. Supermarket closeby and many restaurants. Stayed for 2 nights and could stay again. Staff was nice and helpful and after a slight struggle we got the tickets to Gilis for 325k one way per person with Freebird. Everyone else was selling them for 350k. If you are planning on going to Gilis from Amed, note that it is more expensive than going from Padang Bai because there is only one company operating from Amed. From Ubud through Padang Bai with bus included the price would have been 200k. Stayed in high season but I believe the price is always higher directly from Amed.

Ants, but they seem to be almost everywhere in Bali. No major issues.

A nice stay near the beach

Location good. The host was nice but seemed disappointed we did not book snorkeling with him as we booked elsewhere.

The bathroom was open to the outside but this seems common in many places in Bali. There is no clear route from the road so need to navigate in the dark.

Coup de cœur de mon voyage , Wayan m’a chouchouté, en plus de la gentillesse et de la bienveillance de l’hôte , l’emplacement est idéal , accès direct à la page , en plein centre de amed ( commerces , restaurants…) tout est à proximité. Foncez !!! Encore un grand merci Wayan 🙏🏻

Au calme proche de la plage

Une chambre près de la plage avec vue sur le jardin (et le mur du Homestay voisin). Grand chambre et grand lit. Belle terrasse. Et surtout le sourire et la gentillesse de l’hôtesse Wayan. Possibilité de petit déjeuner. Un excellent rapport qualité prix. J’ai passé un excellent moment

La douche n’étais qu’un petit tuyaux qui éclaboussait partout, la salle de bain était trempée à chaque fois, beaucoup d’humidité et de tache sur les murs de la salle de bain.

Super freundliches Personal und top saubere Zimmer!

Sehr sauber und wirklich schöne Zimmer. Personal war sehr liebenswürdig und hat geholfen wo sie konnten.

Leider ist der Strand schon etwas sehr verschmutzt. Habe jeden Tag Müll gesammelt, so dass es nach mir wahrscheinlich der sauberste Strandabschnitt ist. 😂 Und wenn es nur ein paar Tage anhält. Ist aber generell auf Bali sehr traurig anzusehen wieviel Plastik überall rum liegt und ganz zu schweigen was vom Meer angeschwemmt kommt. In 3 Tagen über 6 Plastiktüten a 120l eingesammelt. Hat aber nichts mit der Unterkunft zutun!!! Diese war wirklich ausgesprochen sauber 😃

El personal es encantador y la ubicación muy céntrica. Bonito y apañado.

A pesar de que pone que está en primera línea de playa. La playa NO sirve. Si quieres ir a la playa tienes que moverte igualmente y tampoco es 1a línea, hay algo delante. La cama no es muy cómoda. Muchos ruidos por la mañana. Las cortinas no son totalmente opacas. La ducha es muy incómoda.

Gute, einfache Unterkunft

Das Shooting Star ist eine einfache, etwas in die Jahre gekommene Unterkunft. Es ist alles da, was man braucht. Kühlschrank, Trinkwasser, Wasserkocher, sogar eine Bank, auf die man den Koffer legen kann, ein Schrank, zwei Nachttische mit Stühlen, AC, eine Veranda mt Liege , Tisch und Stühlen und Ventilator. 25m bis zum Meer. Es ist jedoch ein Fischer Strand an dem viele Boote liegen, die auch mit Motorwinden auf den Strand gezogen werden. Leider liegt Einiges an Müll am Strand herum. Es gibt keine Liegen. Von den 3 Zimmern hat nur eines Meerblick, die beiden anderen sind hinter einem Haus, das direkt am Strand ist. Die leine Grünanlage wird von der sehr freundlichen Wayan gepflegt und wenn etwas fehlt, bringt sie es.

Renovierungsarbeiten wären von großem Vorteil. Eine Beleuchtung am Haus zur Straße hin wäre gut, denn der Weg zum Haus ist sehr uneben und im Dunklen nicht gut zu finden. Direkt daneben wird gebaut und es war tagsüber Baulärm gegeben.

Formidable homestay en bord de mer

L'accueil était superbe - Le petit déjeuner - La proximité avec la mer - Le calme - Les commerces aux alentours Je recommande ce homestay et reviendrai si j'en ai l'occasion !

Certains voyageurs pourraient être dérangés par les coqs et la musique le soir (mais tout s'arrête vite). Donc si vous avez le sommeil léger, emportez des bouchons d'oreilles :)
