What Amed used to feel like with a nice homestay vibe

Amazing family feel, location was perfect with amazing snorkelling right off the beach and they had snorkelling equipment if you needed it. Staff were all family and this added to a nice vibe. Annnd a really nice view from the roof and rooms.

The view is the best. Room was not (room above the roof)

The view over the sea was amazing, that’s it. Bed was good. No trashbins (why?)

Everything was broken. Toiletseat, shower. Aircon looked like it worked but it did not. The fan worked okay. No disrespect but they were doing an offering for a ceremony, that included the ritually killing of pigs. I heard that all night, the squealing. It was heartbreaking. In the morning I saw the pigs being washed and prepared on the beach from my balcony. I left. Very sorry but they should mention this upon arrival, I would have never stayed. The girl next door was also shocked.

The most perfect ocean view

I booked this place because I love to watch sunrise every morning and wow it’s so beautiful and the room is so close to the ocean. Very hot water shower every time. AC was strong. Snorkelling right outside the hotel was amazing and away from the crowds.

I booked two nights but left after one

The booking information was misleading. Not sure if that is the fault of Booking.com or the owner. . It should state that there is no view- the unit looks directly onto the back of the sea view rooms The common space is not well maintained, a lot of personal junk laying around. The room was adequately clean. The common area was messy. The room is missing simple things like a place to put your toiletries. There is no hot water and the water flow itself was dubious and at times a bit of a trickle. There are no practical plug points or a place to put things that are charging. I noticed two plug points very close to the ceiling which were useless. No bedside lamp

Best hotel for budget and snorkelling

right on the beach. i could see the water from my bed. amazing snorkelling literally on the doorstep. lovely family owned business. This is budget but your room will make up for the rest of the place. the balcony is the perfect addition to watch the day disappear. The food is ok and service amazing. loved my stay here.

bathroom is clean but basic , hardly a bad thing. most restaurants serve the same food.

Great location for a budget friendly stay

Lovely location, walking distance to Village. The room was sufficient, the view magnificent. The owners were extremely kind and helpful. The food was good and very reasonably priced. Hot water in the room (yay) and air conditioning worked, you need it - it's extremely humid.

You have to overlook the ramshackle appearance. Walking into the Hotel there's stuff everywhere, a bed (not covered) in the corner. It was not appealing. This leads into the Warung which is cute with a magnificent view. I wanted to give the place a good tidy up. Get over this and you are in a great location for a budget friendly stay.

It’s ok …

Beachfront rooms .. basic and that’s about all. If you can handle the basic place than it’s alright . Wifi is here and there. Only when downstairs it work best. On the other hand if you want to eat there are plenty of choices . Plus it’s cheap if you are on a budget. Plenty of other beachfront hotels.

-Amazing location right in front of the beach, especially in the sea view room, I was able to sleep with the sound of sea waves and wake up to amazing view of sun rise everyday! -Very helpful family and friendly dogs. I felt like I was at home, so relaxing

Beautiful Sunrise deserves its name.

Spectacular view! Beautiful family/staff and very good food. The family went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and easy. The sunrise and moonrise from my balcony was truly beautiful.

Rooms are basic but clean. Bathroom was smelly as can be the case in Bali and there was some difficulty with drainage. Not enough of a problem to ruin my stay but noticeable.

The balcony view was nice.

The place is very old there are big gaps in the doors as they don't close properly. The entrance door is 2half doors that lock with a small padlock and can be pushed open to leave a gap and so people can see into your room. There was a constant dripping from the air conditioning unit just near the bathroom door making it slippery. The father was incredibly rude about English people as a whole. The place is run down and needs a lot of attention. I told them about several things which they could have sorted and didn't. The bed for 2 people had a single sheet on it and no blanket. ***THIS IS NOT A PLACE YOU WANT TO STAY.***

Bad

Don't support a business who do ANIMAL ABUSE. Homestays is full of birds in tiny cages (like 7) and some of them are even hidden into cages in the dark they spend their day jumping in the cages and go crazy. I tried to talk to owner nicely and he immediately proposed me to sell the birds very expansive to me so I can free them, it is horrible. I have been coming to Amed for many years and locals are so nice here, there is tons of amazing homestay who deserve your money, don't give money to support this cruelty and this business. The room i have got was FACING A WALL and the doors of the others rooms, when I booked it was written sea view. The other rooms have sea view, they gave me the room with sea view on my last night.

Ocean side balcony was amazing. Clean, and nice little restaurant downstairs. I really loved this place and the family. The feeling was calm and peaceful.

It’s the jungle and this is a homestay - there are ants…but let them do their thing and they’ll move on. They always did. Keep food out of your room.

Peaceful Sea Abode, choose the ocean view room!

WOW, this place ruined the rest of my trip because the room was so dang amazing, I've been looking for one as good since. My balcony overhung the ocean. I snorkeled in the mornings and watched the storms from my covered balcony in the afternoons as I worked. This place was cheaper and better than where I was across the street, and the owners let you do your own thing and give your privacy, which I really appreciated. Oh, and it faces away from the road, so it was quiet! This is actually really important b/c that little main road turns into a party zoo at night (somehow). I was so blissed out in this room, but eventually it was time to move on from Amed, and so I've been looking for a room like this since for this price. Not possible!

They don't provide breakfast and they don't have really a communal space for residents to hang (except their restaurant area) but honestly the room was so great, so quiet, with such an amazingly on-top-of ocean view, I didn't really care about that.

If you're not picky about cleanliness, this is great value for money.

Good location - as close to the beach as you can get. My room was spacious and fairly quiet.

Dirty. Hardly any effort put into cleaning the room and bathroom. Stains on the bathroom walls that look like they've been there for years. My shower didn't have hot water - I was ok with it but not everyone is.

A warm family homestay with a great ocean view

The family who runs this is incredibly warm and hospitable and assist you in having a great experience in Amed. They set me up with a driver for exploring the sites, they arranged for me to go fishing with a local and when I caught a fish (!!!) they cooked it up for me. Situated on the beach my room overlooked the ocean and provided a wonderful view for sunrise. It's a good homestay in amed for sure. I showed up on amed with nothing planned and they helped me book everything and have a great local experience.
