Fabulous location for Russell but somewhat disappointed as commented - quite expensive.

Location - close to Russell Wharf. Superb views to Russell. Very comfortable bed.

1. The shower as such had no shower curtain or shower screen, water splashed all over the bathroom floor extending to the WC, which was hazardous and slippery. We had to place the shower mat adjacent to the loo to prevent slipping. 2. The driveway to the property quite long and steep and unsuitable for people requiring easy access if walking to town. 3. No blinds in bathroom. 4. Poor light exclusion on front blinds when dark. 5. Stated had soundproofing but could hear adjacent visitors talking.

A little slice of paradise….we didnt want to leave

It was stylishly presented with beautiful furnishings & exceptionally clean & comfortable. The host Sue (not forgetting the very gorgeous Lulu dog) was warm & welcoming & nothing was too much trouble. She had filled the fridge with gorgeous goodies for our breakfast & many items were home made (lush marmalade). The views from the villa were stunning.

Tropical storms and power cuts

A stay to remember - a tropical storm a power cut and then a delay to getting to the Opua ferry due a blocked road - apart from that we enjoyed ourselves very much. Sue is a lovely host and went out of her way to help.

Beautiful outlook towards the sea.

The property is on a slight hill and has a lovely view with a great verandar and outdoor furniture. The host Sue is lovely and when I asked for some ice for our drinks, it was not a problem. You get fresh fruit each day with anything else that neeeds to be replaced for your continental breakfast. Town a a few minutes' walk and everything is close by. There are also some lovely walks near the property. Russell is small, so eveything is clsose. There is a big supermarket and plenty of restaurants and cafes. We did the tall ship sailing boat trip which was great. The room was spacious and comfortable, I would definitely recommend it. I think you are better off staying at villa Russell with the lovely outlook and spacious verandar than along the waterfront.

The continental breakfast from the room fridge could have been more exciting, rather basic.Missed variety. Fruits were very nice. No eggs or cheese.

Relaxing, comfortable, quiet.

Old style balcony with beautiful vista. We could sit out for meals and fully relax. We liked that there were windows behind and french doors to the balcony so we had air flowing through at night. The kitchenette had everything we needed.

A very nice and peacefull stay

The location is very good , walking distance from the sea waterfront where all the restaurants and bars are located . The breakfast was correct , we found everything in the room and the refrigerator . We had breakfast in the terrace just out of our room, it was great ! Mrs Sue , the owner of Villa Russel is a very nice lady and help us a lot giving very interesting suggestions .

Perfect location, views and hospitality

The owner , Sue was exceptionally hospitable and had thought of everything a traveller might need and value. There are just 2 suites and you can be very private. The room is enormous with a very large bed and sofa sitting area. There is outside seating as well. The breakfast provided was delicious and thoughtful. The main area of Russell for eating out and shops is a short 5 minute walk . The drive up to the villa from the main road is very steep and could cause a problem for limited mobility but one could always drive down and leave the car at the bottom, walk into town and then drive back up if needed. The height is so worth it for the magnificent views of the bay of islands. Thoroughly recommend this lovely place.

Fantastic view and a perfect location for the town, restaurants and ferry. The room was large, very comfortable and had everything we needed. The weather during our stay was awful, but this was a great place to sit out on the covered veranda and watch the weather. Sue kindly let us use the drier when our clothes got soaked. Breakfast was lovely, and a chance to get to know Sue and Lulu the dog - this was a really great stay.

An experience of wild weather!

Excellent breakfast, unfortunately because of the weather we were unable to eat on the verandah until our last day. Our host was lovely & most helpful.

There was nothing wrong with the accommodation , just unlucky that there was a cyclone while we were staying there, however we still enjoyed Russell & hope to return one day.

We loved the location and the view. We felt connected to the centre yet distant enough to feel relaxed. Sue was a very welcoming and hospitable host with local tips and very helpful with parking and storage to meet our needs. The breakfast was lovely on the deck the first morning and inside on the second due to the weather.
