Peaceful and charming stay

We stayed at the annex for two nights and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The location is stunning, set in the medieval town of Assisi, tucked away in a cosy mews that feels peaceful and authentic. The apartment itself is beautifully decorated, spacious, and equipped with every comfort you could need. It strikes the perfect balance between charm and practicality, making it easy to relax and feel at home. The area is incredibly tranquil — you can breathe in the fresh air, admire the beautiful night sky, and wake up in the morning to the delightful sound of a rooster singing, which adds to the unique atmosphere. Everything is within walking distance, including the town centre, the magnificent Basilica di San Francesco d'Assisi, and the Sanctuary of Carlo Acutis. It was truly an amazing stay, and we would happily return.

Pleasant accommodations with substandard breakfast menu

The monetary value of my stay proved highly affordable. Staff were friendly and helpful. The walking distance to nearby Assisi attractions is quite convenient. Accommodations are extremely comfortable.

The breakfast was carb heavy. Eggs were served one way only with no input from guests. Minimal fruit selection. No olive oil offered. No skim milk.

I was made to feel unwelcome by the older man that worked and served breakfast. Laura was pleasant but her husband was very curt. I much more pleasant with white clients than he with me mixed race woman from Jamaica.

a magical setting for a few days break

The view over Assisi was exceptional and easily seen from the garden and terrace. It was pleasant to chose from a variety of seating positions a place to sit and read, have a drink and just enjoy the atmosphere. Breakfast was a delight, quite a variety of tempting treats beautifully displayed on a platter. There was coffee, orange and water set out, everything you could want.

an excellent place to be in assisi

my room was small (my choice for value and the purpose of this visit ~ a retreat) but very comfortable and attractive. the hotel common rooms and outdoor spaces were especially lovely, and the breakfast was both generous and delicious. all hotel staff were so pleasant and helpful with logistics and recommendations! hotel ideale is walkable from all corners of this beautiful city and very close to a bus station for transport to the train station.

The view, the view, the view 🙂. Gardens and terrace lovely. Breakfast exceptional. Staff very friendly. Clean and nicely presented.

Soap supplied originally but not replaced over our 3 night stay. Air conditioner controller not in room. When asked, we were told they take out over cooler months and we could just open balcony door. As room is advertised as air conditioned we should have had the choice to use or not. Hot flushes in your 60’s are a real thing and air conditioning helps 🙂. We would suggest a couple of complimentary bottles of water would be a good idea as well.

I enjoyed the stay even though I was expecting to stay in a hotel.

The woman who greeted me was very helpful and communicative. She helped me navigate finding the apartments and parking. She also responded to text messages for other questions.

I didn't know that the hotel was closed and that I would be staying in the independent apartments which are part of the hotel but there is no lobby or bar or life of a hotel. I was travelling alone and wanted a hotel experience. Otherwise, I would have booked an AirBnB to stay to stay in an apartment. So, I would have preferred that Booking be more specific about the type of facilities being offered. It was not at all mentioned when I made the booking.

A beautiful, relaxing boutique style hotel with an amazing garden and views.

Friendly reception. Very clean room. Amazing views of Assisi and the valley below. Superb garden and terrace. Family run hotel with a lot of attention to detail. Refrigerator in room. Beautifully prepared and presented breakfast with a choice of sweet or salty theme.

The bathroom is compact, especially the shower access. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. A small issue that detracts from the vibe at breakfast…...if you would like a second tea or coffee with breakfast there is a charge (but only 2 Euro).

Amazing views over Assisi and the valley.

The view from the terrace is really outstanding. I had breakfast on the terrace and met on one evening with friends for an aperitif and they were all stunned by the view and the sunset. The breakfast was delicious. The hotel does not have a buffet, but there are two options (savoury or sweet) and both options are very good and varied with fresh fruits, croissants, cake, etc. Everyone in the hotel is very friendly. The location of the hotel is very good it is above the cathedral San Rufino and it takes about 5 minutes to get to Piazza Commune (it takes a little bit longer to get back, given that Assisi is very hilly.)

There was nothing I did not like. I had a single room which was comparatively small, but ok and it did not have any special view, but I knew this in advance and the hotel got in contact early and communicated well.

A perfect location with special service

Location is perfect! Just outside the walls, with easy access to everything, convenient on site car parking and a fantastic breakfast, served in the garden or the terrazza. The owners and the staff are all wonderful. Special mention to Mama Marisa and Marco. At the sunset, you have the best views of the city and the valley below, while having a drink and some local delicacies they can serve you. The rooms are extremely clean, with great balconies and all the amenities we needed. The decoration is full of details to make the stay special. If we come back to Assisi, we will stay there again.

Great location and a fabulous balcony terrace overlooking Assisi, amazing views - both the terrace off the room we stayed in and the communal terrace out in the garden. Nice breakfast and lovely staff.

The quality of the view quite rightly takes a massive focus but the hotel is comfortable, quiet and the staff are attentive and friendly. I was able to upgrade my room on arrival and they were great at accommodating me. The breakfasts are a thing of beauty, I'd particularly recommend the dolce choice! Throughout the day you can request snacks, cakes and platters from the reception which are freshly prepared. Great location for exploring Assisi but also a sense of peace and relaxation.

This is certainly a place I would highly recommend.

I absolutely loved the location high above Assisi: my room was on the second floor with a good sized balcony to enjoy the view. There is a large breakfast terrace with a similar view. I didn't need to use the air conditioning as it was nicely ventilated thanks to it's location. I appreciated the fact that the hotel is accessible by car unlike in many other historic town centers. Staff was very welcoming friendly and helpful.

The customer service from Hotel Ideale sets the standard in Assisi and much of Italy.

Marco at the hotel reception was amazing. His cheer and helpfulness really won over our group. He was so helpful making reservations at restaurants and getting anyone anything they needed. The breakfast was fantastic and the view from this Hotel is striking.

The beds are a little firm. This property is older and not quite as modern so some of the amenities are not what you might be used to...however, in return you get a lot of charm.
