Reopened in April 2018 after extensive refurbishment and surrounded by a quiet garden with a terrace outdoor chess and morris, this youth hostel in the center of Bern is just a 5-minute walk from the Swiss Parliament and the Aare River.

Good location only 15 minutes from the main train station and on the outskirts of the busy touristy areas so a nice quiet area. Check in staff were lovely

The building felt very cold and uninviting both outside and inside. The bathrooms were in the main hallway corridor near the staircase so everyone can see you coming and going. The showers, while had hot water were very very basic. The bedrooms were simple and offered fresh bedding but did not have bathroom towels, you cannot hire from reception so BYO towel. Getting to the property is downhill, so if you’re travelling with a large suitcase be aware it’s a very steep hill down with stairs and ramps. There is a gondola nearby that can be used for €1.50 each way which was helpful

Excellent location and great hostel!

Great breakfast with plenty of choices. Friendly staff. Nice shelves for spreading things out in the room.

A larger table or stand to put your backpack would be very helpful.

It is difficult to unpack and pack in a dark room.

The location of the facility was superb; the cable car provided immediate access to the city centre, and the station was within walking distance.

The room was very dark, and even with the lights on, some areas remained difficult to see clearly. The photos on the website gave the impression of a bright, modern facility, so I was disappointed. The bedside lamp was very dim, and the accompanying socket for charging mobile phone was broken. In a six-bed room, that number of sockets is useless. It was also disappointing that the toilet wasn't clean.

Nearly perfect

The location of the hostel is in a very nice place. It's great to be located right by the river. It is also very close to tourist spots. City transportation is free of charge with the code given by the hostel. The hostel rooms are spacious and clean. There is a sink in the room. The hostel team is friendly. Breakfast was included in the price and was perfectly adequate and nice.

The bathroom and toilet are located in the hallway. There are no paper towels in the sink in the hotel room. I don't see anything else complaining.

Great place!

Great location, walking distance from the station (although a bit steep). But even if you go just to leave your luggage before the check-in, they give you a free transportation card so you can take the gondola back up ! Nice breakfast, enough bathrooms for each floor, and very nice personnel :)

The plugs situation is a little poor, and I couldn't understand how the lockers work.

Fantastic stay

The staff were very welcoming and efficient including breakfast staff receptionists morning and night, and cleaning staff. The showers were always hot. Breakfast was good. Location,by the beautiful river and a little climb to the station and old City and outdoor space.

Price of cappuccino ch 5.50 was very expensive. Not sure why. In.the heatwave room very hot. Would have loved some curtains round the bed9

Good value for money!

Everything was as expected. The place was clean and spacious. Shower was good and bed was comfy. Super bonus points to the nice guy at the reception who was very helpful. Great value for money (in Switzerland)! City transport card included is a great plus as well.

Nothing to complain really. Maybe the way back up to the town can be a challenge but there is also a cable car, so no big issue.

Great location, good if you have families not so much as a solo traveller

The location was great, and you get a city travel pass which really helped me explore the city more. The rooms are a good size and feels secure having lockers in the room. The breakfast was tasty. I also recommend the dinner, well worth 19.5

It was quite noisy. There are a-lot of families that were staying, so lots of screaming children running around. Also there aren’t really enough showers and toilets for tbe amount of people. I was in room 105, where there were alot of other rooms and i had to queue for toilets every time

Adequate

The property was well-maintained. It has a stylish lobby with a bar and some tables. There is parking available. We did breakfast there. Their dining room is really pretty. I really liked having breakfast there. The space has a nice vibe kind of modern but with a lot of wood. There’s a spiral staircase off the breakfast room and if you go up, there’s a table, some couches and a TV and children’s books. It’s a space that would be easily overlooked by most guests. They don’t tell you about it. The breakfast was nice with options.

The rooms at first glance are really cool looking and the aesthetic is kind of industrial. But staying in the room was not that pleasant. It’s one of the smallest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. There were four of us and we were in bunkbeds and there was not much room around the bunkbeds. There was nowhere to sit. I probably wouldn’t stay here again simply for that reason and there’s not really anything they can do about that. The towels and linens are provided, but you have to put them on yourself. Also, the girl running the breakfast bar seemed like she let things run completely out and would still wait a few minutes before resupplying it almost seemed like it was by design so people wouldn’t take too much. I didn’t like that. But the offerings were a nice selection when things were all out. I didn’t know if she wasn’t very good at her job or if that was how she was instructed to do things.

The hostel was well located. The structure and bedrooms comfortable. The stuff was very polite. We received a code to use the welcome berna app, with this code we could use public transportation for free which was quite useful. The breakfast was very good and there were plenty of food options. I will definitely return one day. Thanks for everything!
