fine for just one night

the location was great.

In booking it was stated that there was parking available. This was not really accurate. Are two options was to park in a parking garage (very expensive) or in a residential street in a specific area (very hard to find and a solid 20 min. walk from hotel). The bathroom was very small.

All in all was a lovely place, staff friendly and was a beautiful place with a nice room.

Lovely location. And bed very comfy and I love how the shutters and windows where.

Awful

The room had neither a toilette nor a bath! To use these one had to leave the room, go to the corridor and to a different room! The price, more than 200.- Euros for a night in such a substandard room is incredibly high!

Excellent location, friendly staff and a prefect base in a beautiful city!

Fantastic location just yards from the main train station. Very clean, excellent breakfast and Anna on reception was excellent, as were all staff, but she really stood out. Our stay included free public transport which was very convenient.

Being a city centre hotel, it was quite noisy at night but you have to expect that when being so centrally located. Pillow could have been better (as in all European hotels!)

A historic building with an elevator that could be a tourist attraction in its own right. The room was basic, and clean, but had every convenience, including hot tea and a hair drier. Anna at the front desk was especially patient and helpful. I appreciated her courteous professional manner; a wonderful ambassador for Bern.

There is a theatre next door which had a rock concert, but I am sure they must follow code as they ended precisely at 10:00 pm.

One night stay in Bern

Very good hotel close to the main station in Basel and hence perfectly located for both getting out of the city and exploring the charming city itself. The hotel is old but works well with a wonderful very old elevator. My room wasn't large but it was OK for staying there. The breakfast buffet was OK but there were no cooked choices.

The location was perfect. Very close to the train station and right in the heart of the center. The receptionists were so kind and so lovely. The place was clean and the breakfast was good.

Historical building! 120 year elevator is FUN!

Beautiful older building, Art-Deco era Elevator (more fun than funicular), wonderful, friendly staff, very helpful and attentive. Room for one person is very small but cozy, great views. You may want to get an earplugs to not be bothered by the running trams outside. Location couldn’t be better. Breakfast is nice and free. I would stay there again.

Well located hotel, but a bit expensive for what it offers you

The staff of this place are exceptional. Everybody is so nice and helpful! They offer a free of charge service for leaving the bags on a locker after checkout. This hotel was very very clean.

If you are going in the summer, please notice that the hotel does not have AC, and you need to pay extra for installing a portable AC on your room (and not all rooms can accomodate it). On the morning of the first day, they put a very loud fan in the first floor to make air circulate above, and due to the extreme noise of this "industrial size" fan, it was impossible to keep the window open, it was just too loud. The elevator is only available until 9pm, after that you will need to climb up. (The elevador is also very small and slightly scary.) The breakfast is very minimal, there are not many options, and they don't even offer scrambled eggs. I don't recommend it.

Good breakfast, good location both for seeing the old city and proximity to the train station

Our room (on the 5th floor) was small and windows were too high to have any view at all. And we had to drag our heavy suitcases up a flight of stairs since the elevator only goes to the 4th floor. (According to the concierge, it was "a few steps," but it was actually two sets of 8 steps each--we counted.) We suspect that using the 5th floor for hotel accommodations may have been an add-on, inconvenient and cramped--perhaps formerly servants' quarters?

A budget choice.

Reception staff was very helpful. Very clean. Good water pressure and very hot. Great location near train station and a tram stop just outside. Restaurants nearby.

The traffic was very noisy. The room was small. The bathroom had no place to put toiletries. The breakfast could have been much better. The fresh fruit was mostly apples. Restaurant staff didn’t replenish things unless you asked. I picked this hotel to save money since Switzerland is so expensive. If you can’t afford more, it’s an okay choice.

The hotel receptionist were very nice and helpful, the room was clean and in a good location.

The hotel was in a good location, close to town,, and transport.The reception staff were very nice and helpful, the lift was very quirky. The breakfast was average and so were the staff. No coffee was provided in our room and when we asked for coffee we were told that they only provided tea which was very disappointing..

The fact that no coffee was provided in the room. No black out curtains or blinds so the room was very light when sleeping.

Comfortable hotel with great staff in a central location.

Room was small which was fine but I was given sole access to an outside space as well which was a treat. Everything in the room was perfect for my stay, tastefully decorated, very good quality bedding and linen, natural materials in the bathroom. The staff could not have been nicer; they were outstandingly helpful with everyone and multi- lingual. Breakfast offered a great range of fresh food in the traditional way. Transport was at the door.

I am not coming back! Hotel not appreciate hard working staff!

Location was great as much as staff. Receptionist Ana was very helpful and done everything to make our stay comfortable.

Room is very dark, no ac, only window is for a courtyard. Was not possible to open the window overnight because of noises from other guests using courtyard. Sandra on breakfast was a absolute gem! She was ALONE serving breakfast with no help whatsoever. Selection was fair, but it was painful to watch how one person trying to organise everything over there. Quality of good was not really impressive (unwashed tomatoes and fruits, no fresh croissants, only bread was freshly baked). I have feeling that staff is working hard but nobody from management appreciates that!

Location! It is not far from the train station. The lift is also a nice feature. The lady at the reception when I first checked in was really polite.

We had a room that faced an interior courtyard - it was very stuffy, no window with outside ventilation- and with the windows open it was incredibly noisy- people below were talking and making noise until very late and then em very early, and the sound just came right up into the rooms

Would not go again and it’s not worth of the money. Just for the location it was great.

Location was excellent.

The room was horrible bed of 1 person and small room not like in any pictures. The windows were facing to inside yard direct view and acces to other guests rooms. I came for work and couldn’t rest well without any privacy. I heard every sound, other quests making noises and wake up call going on at 6 AM and every visitor going throught the corridor. The building is extremly old and they need to renovate atleast the furniture in the room. The breakfast was very poor I had to go eat breakfast elsewhere afterwards. Should have ended at 10 AM but they were arleady taking everything away at 9:30 so there was no selection of breakfast. The staff didn’t seem very happy there.

The location was amazing. Within 5 easy minutes of the Bern Hauptbahnhof and to the city. The room was a bit tight, but for one traveler who only spent the time there to sleep and cleanup it was perfect. The bathroom was actually quite spacious. The staff was very friendly, professional and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic! The dining room staff was also just great! There was also a really cool old fashioned elevator you can use! Definitely recommend this hotel. This made me two for two great stays on this trip! 👍😃😎
