The rooms are big

There is a nightclub downstairs, the drain smells foul you can smell it with the bathroom door closed. The shower was not clean

Very underwhelmed by my stay

Espresso Martini at the BAr was nice

We were extremely disappointed with our recent stay. There was a huge amount of noise coming from the street at 02:30am, including a marching band playing directly outside the hotel. We were absolutely shocked that the windows are not double-glazed to mitigate this level of disturbance. What was even more concerning was that reception appeared unaware of the incident when we raised it the following morning at checkout. I find it hard to believe we were the only guests affected at that hour. The television quality was very poor snowy picture, limited channel selection, and no streaming services available on what is marketed as a smart TV. This was unexpected for a hotel of this standard. We also ordered room service breakfast, which arrived cold and dry, suggesting it had been standing for some time before being delivered to our room. On departure, we were surprised to be charged for parking. This was not clearly communicated and felt unreasonable given the level of the establishment. The bar mini-fridge in the room was completely empty, which again felt inconsistent with a supposed five-star experience. There was no turndown service during our stay. Additionally, we were charged for a cappuccino upon checkout, despite breakfast being included in our booking. Overall, the experience fell well below expectations. My wife works in the film industry as a Producer and has frequently heard feedback from clients who are hesitant to stay at this hotel unfortunately, we now better understand why.

There is always one things that spoils it.

Room was very good , everything we requested was taken care of. Janice at reception was 10/10 she really stood out.

Breakfast staff and breakfast. Using Janice as a standard they were 6/10. Very little effort was made to accommodate our dietary requirements, after phoning and mailing and given assurances. For that reason alone I would not go back.

On balance it was good but there are a few things that could have been better.

The staff were excellent. Always willing to help and assist. Very courteous and professional. The welcome was good and the the hotel foyer and ambiance was great.

The original room (516) that was given to us was below standard. One of the drawers fell off when we opened it. The room seemed old and tired and was dusty. It didn't resemble the pictures online when I did my original booking. However, as soon as I raised my concerns the staff (in particular Rushen) were sympathetic and responsive to my concerns. Rushen immediately moved my family and I to an alternative room which was as per the pictures online when I had originally made the booking. We were very happy with the room thereafter. During breakfast I noticed a cockroach run out of one of the open cereals. This put me off eating at the hotel. The location of the hotel is not ideal as the area seems a little dangerous. One afternoon when driving out of the parking there was a fight taking place between a few people and the security had to intervene. The facilities are ok, however a Spa would be a welcomed inclusion in the the future. It isn't ideal booking for the Hyatt and arriving there only to then find out that I have to pay over R100 a day for parking. If you want to charge for this, you should rather include it in the original booking price. However, in my opinion, the hotel parking should be free to paying guests.

Not up to scratch

Location is good

I have visited 64 countries and normally stay at a Hyatt hotel. This one is by far not up to standard. Trying to charge for parking, only serving Halaal meals (no mention of if when making ressrvation), no fruit or snacks in the room, coffee is hidden in a drawer ( no general room introduction, cleaning ladies using charging cables ( I caught them red banded), reception persinnel very"cold" when checking in, lady chefs getting an omelette order wrong every morning (not only mine). In short a dissapointing sxperience and completely over priced. Rather stay at the Southern Sun which is very good.

Very very good

We had a great stay in this hotel. The Staff (specifically the restaurant staff) were amazing and so friendly and professional. The hotel is so Halal friendly and it’s directly next to bo kaab area. The location is exactly in the middle of the city. There is a masjid 1 minute walking distance from the hotel. Special Thanks to : Grace For her beautiful soul and great smile ( She should be in the front desk she is such a great front desk face) Shermone for making sure that our daughter is well fed Saleeha for making sure our stay is perfect Zakhreya for his efforts Triq for his politeness And sorry if we forgot the rest of the staff names they all should honestly have a raise.

It is close to main attractions.

The location of the property isn’t ideal, it is situated on a main road. Definitely not suitable for families with small children. The entrance opens directly to the main road. This also means if it’s a weekend, you get noise from the road. The shuttle was unavailable due to the rugby. This was only communicated to us on the Saturday morning. Breakfast is very limited for Hindu guests. (We don’t eat pork or beef)

Disappointing that you have to pay R30 for the kitchen to bring food ordered via ‘in-room dining’. Get there is no optio

Very friendly staff at check-in and dining areas. The room was clean with a comfortable bathroom and big shower.

Despite being located on a high floor, the room was noisy. I could hear cars hooting and revving engines into the wee hours of the morning! My room was facing the main road. Advice to those considering staying here: Ask for a quiet room! The room (headboard) could also do with some touch-ups or a refresh.

Would opt for another hotel.

The room was spacious, staff were friendly and the hotel was central to what we wanted to do.

The windows did not seal properly meaning you could hear the traffic from outside. The AC in the room did not work which meant maintenance had to come and have a look at 23:15. An iron was missing and a light did not work which again we needed to call someone to see to. For a supposedly 5 star hotel, this was really poor, as all facilities should have been working prior to giving out the room. Not worth the money we paid for and definitely not a 5 star hotel as described.

Luxurious stay in the heart of Cape Town

Extremely friendly staff. Very comfortable beds and amazing food. Will definitely go again.

I booked via booking.com and the app glitched. It made two bookings instead of one and I had to pay for both. This has nothing to do with Hyatt hotel, but it is very upsetting that booking.com does not want to refund me and I don't know how to hold them accountable.

The staff definitely made this trip a highlight for us, from the front desk to the breakfast team to housekeeping and the concierge. We had such wonderful encounters with all the staff. We stayed for a week and breakfast was great, we didn't get bored and there was ample the chef would accommodate for us. The room was clean and large, the bathroom was also larger than most.

The hotel is located in such a great spot, walking distance to many restaurants, jazz clubs etc but it is unfortunately not safe to walk after dark. Uber is easily available at any time of the day.

You totally misrepresented this hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful but are very apologetic about the situation

You misrepresented the hotel and withheld critical information This is now a Muslim hotel and as such there is NO ALCOHOL We don’t drink much but on a holiday enjoy a drink in a relaxing bar area and a wine with dinner THIS US NOT ALLOWED HERE Additionally you and the hotel on their website advertise the Urchin seafood restaurant and show wine glasses on the table THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED We had to go to the trouble and expense of getting transport to othe r restaurants each of our 6 nights there The staff tell us this us causing huge issues The restaurant on their website advertise main floor is virtually empty every night as it is Halsl The guests were mainly Muslim which is no issue but non Muslim guests are certainly at a disadvantage and cannot enjoy the relaxing holiday they paid for We will be taking this further with both your head office and that of Hyatt People need to be told
