My stay was great to see family but my room smelled of damp and felt very basic.

Breakfast great

Evening meal in the restaurant was disappointing Empty although being told we needed to book! Still nearly empty when we left!!! Staff lovely but food not great and overpriced. I had Braised beef and nothing like I have had in other restaurant .expected a peice of beef not shredded round lump.looked like corned beef out of a round can.left half my meal and only had water , no starter no dessert and £30 !!!. The rest of our group ate out and pd £50 each for 3 courses and wine and drinks!!!.

Great hotel, great location, just needs better communication.

Location was great. The hotel is clean and modern and not showing too much sigh of wear and tear. The bed was large and the room was a good size with nice coffee.

Sadly, the air-conditioning is operated across the hotel from on a hot or cold basis. So whilst you have an air-conditioning control unit in the room it only blows hot air in the winter. This meant we had to sleep with windows open which meant our sleep was disturbed by the nearby pubs and the wedding party that was happening in the hotel. On that note, if we had of been advised that loud music in their function room would be played from 7pm until midnight at the time of making the booking we would not have stayed. We paid the top rate for the top room on the top floor, and the music was so loud it was making the floor vibrate. The room smelt of drains, which was attempted to be resolved by pine Disinfectant, which was short lived. We were offered a room change but it would have been a downgrade, and no offer of a refund to compensate the change of room.

Very comfortable and very nice hotel...but young staff need far more training.

The building was very nice....the rooms were more than adequate....reception very helpful.....the location was fantastic.

Breakfast food quality and the way it was cooked or stood around was hit and miss....the breakfast staff stood around trying to make themselves look bizzy, but not clearing tables of used plates etc leaving no room for additional food.

Comfortable, central and well-appointed hotel

The room was very comfortable and well appointed. We enjoyed the atrium and wallpaper plus the historical influence in the architecture and decor. The bar was well appointed and comfortable.

The breakfast service on the Sunday morning did not cope albeit that it was a busy time. The buffet was short on items and there was a shortage of crockery and cutlery. On the Monday morning of our stay there were one or more conferences with attendees overflowing into the lounge area and even the foyer of the hotel (particularly during tea and lunch when attendees were eating in these areas too). We could not find a place to sit after breakfast and for half an hour during check-out and before leaving.

Very good position

The receptionist on arrival wasn't very welcoming, she told us the dinner menu was in the room which we found disappointing only to find out it was the room service menu, she just wasn't helpful at all, no smile on her face either, the receptionist this morning when we checked out was great

Beautiful hotel, central. Needs some tweaks to make it perfect!

Decorated beautifully and rooms very spacious and clean. Food very good in hotel.

We had 4 rooms booked and all of us said the showers were poor / not working well. The hotel bar closes at 11pm and could stay open until midnight for a hotel of that size. Not enough seating areas in the bar or reception for a party of 8.

Impressive historic building that makes an average hotel

I loved the location and the originality of the hotel

My room (221) was small and looked over an internal roof area which had noisy fan running all night. The window wouldn’t close fully so I could not block out this noise.

Very comfortable and relaxing.

The staff were charming and were still enjoying the fun we all had the evening before at a friends 60th at breakfast. The manager even commented on how super the speeches were. Lovely that everyone involved enjoyed the celebration.

Breakfast could have been improved a little. Full English ordered. Sausage was not the best and the poached egg was rather over cooked.

Pleasant and location perfect

The location was perfect for us

On check in the receptionist was extremely rude! Advised we hadn’t paid for our room, when I had a clear confirmation we had, also questioned our credit card advising if we could not afford to leave one on the system we could pay as we go. The room was extremely hot even though there was no heating on, unable to keep window open due to traffic noise

As a family we all enjoyed our two night stay at the Queens

The Queens is in a fantastic location, perfect for exploring Cheltenham and the reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The complimentary soft drinks refrigerated in the room were definitely appreciated and our rooms were cleaned to a good standard.

We found the bar and breakfast menu limited and no one in our party of 4 particularly enjoyed any of the food ordered during the 3 meals we had during our stay. The service in the bar area off the reception was slow however, I suspect this was through no fault of the staff themselves rather than that of those who decided how it was staffed.

I was going to stay here again, but have cancelled my booking due to the negative experience.

The location is great, situated close to the Promenade and great local restaurants.

Staff were shockingly bad. I was pretty much ignored in the restaurant for breakfast until I literally had to flag down someone. Even then there was no apology… Staff were complaining about team members being off sick in front of guests. A waitress was clearly ill sniffing and coughing everywhere in front of guests. One staff member had brought his daughter in and spent more time talking to her than actually engaging with guests. The times of breakfast had been changed from 6:30-9:30 to 7:30-10:30 without informing guests (no notices in the rooms, reception when checking in did not notify anyone of the change either).

The bed was very uncomfortable the duvet was to big for the bed and very difficult to pull up. And the Bar was very miserable you wouldn’t like to stay in there for long.

Room was lovely with brilliant view across the city. Lovely touch of free soft drinks in the mini bar chilled ready. Room was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was amazing.

A beautiful high quality traditional hotel in the centre of Cheltenham.

This is a lovely hotel with very polite and helpful staff. The check in was very easy and our room was lovely. We had breakfast in the conservatory and were really impressed by how nice it was. Location wise, it's perfect for exploring the centre of Cheltenham.

I was a little disappointed that we were charged an extra £15 for parking. Whilst I don't feel that that's a particularly outrageous amount, it wasn't clear when I booked and felt a little like a "stealth tax".

Excellent location just steps from the Promenade, friendly and professional staff, comfortable room, great bar and delicious breakfast.

I would have expected a hotel of this quality to have at least a small chest of drawers for non-hanging clothes, and a couple of towel hooks or rails in the bathroom. Nowhere to hang coats.

Excellent stay at this hotel. We mentioned it was a stay for my birthday and were offered an upgrade

The rooms were excellent and exclusive. We were offered an upgrade to a premium room and found personal message with chocolates in the room! Five Star service. The reception staff were very friendly and professional . Top Birthday Treat.

Parking was fifteen pounds for the night which was an extra and not many spaces but can understand as a town centre hotel.

The bathroom design. For a “deluxe king” the bathroom was poorly laid out, my thighs touched the wall when on the loo. Definitely not designed for the bigger man. Staff at breakfast were harried.

We loved our beautiful, big, warm room. We also enjoyed a tasty breakfast in their tasteful restaurant. Great location in Cheltenham. A charming hotel which knows it's own history and tells it's story well.
