Value-for-money hotel close to railway station but quiet location

Good value-for-money hotel with a good breakfast and friendly staff. Also a quant old-fashioned room, very quiet (except when the rain started drumming in a drainpipe).

The location was perfect for us as we were travelling on by train. 4 minutes’ walk to the station. The beds were comfortable. Liked the heated floor in the bathroom!

Great service, convenient location to train station.

We were just staying a short night before a 2am train. We were super impressed that someone came and cleared the snow just after midnight. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Very convenient for the train station.

There were little steps between each room which were a bit of a toe stubbing issue!

Cozy and homely small hotel

The owner was a kindly lady who allowed us to check in early, gave recommendations about places to visit and waved us goodbye when we left.. The rooms though small, were spotlessly clean. Not a single spot of mould or dirt could be found. The housekeeping was also impeccable. The breakfast was very decent, with a spread of cheeses, ham, egg and fruit.

To enter and lock the door, one has to use a big key. Can't lock from the inside without a key. The toilet is a little too small.

Too old,too terrible,too unconvinced!

Except the breakfast, others are shot!

Too old of the decoration and furniture，the key is mechanic one with a big copper door plate, looks like one hundred years old. No kettle no water. There are only a old bed and a desk in the room. I has never lived so terrible hotel before and I never choice this one.

If I travel to Salzburg again by car, I know I have a place to stay.

What I liked the most about the hotel, in order of appearance, were; ..First and foremost the warm welcome and sincere hospitality of Ms. Linda who gave us necessary tips about the city, the concert hall as well as the panoramic route that we should choose on the way back to Vienna. ..The second thing that I really liked about the hotel was the separate parking space right next door which can accommodate up to 8 cars. ..The breakfast was quite rich and tasty. Can it be improved? Yes, sure, but I liked it and I found it pretty sufficient to start the day. ..The staff were professional and helpful at all times (24/7). ..The room (211) was not so big, but was not crampy either. Enough for a short stay, for a day or two. The bed was OK but those taller than 1.80 cm may have a bit trouble to fit in. If you close the windows, the room is quiet and you can sleep well. ..The bathroom was clean but basic and the shower apparatus must be fixed or renewed. ..The location is about 900 meters to the Mirabell Palace and another 300 meters to the old town attractions by crossing the bridge. There are regular buses in all directions and Linda sends her guests a complimentary pass e-mail (Guest Mobility Ticket) for free public transportation. ..On the overall, if I travel to Salzburg again by car, I know I have a place to stay. Highly recommended :)

The hotel tries to sell itself as a quaint boutique hotel but it is just old and somewhat depressing.

The location was close to train station and Old Town.

The property was run down. It felt like staying at home of grandmother who is on a pension and saving pennies. The decor was old, the breakfast mediocre. Layout was awkward and uncomfortable.

Nice place, not a bad walk from train station and nice staff.

Breakfast was more than adequate. The hotel is really quite nice. The decor is definitely "quirky." Only drawback is it has no A/C. Not hotels fault my mistake for not noticing that on the website. They did supply a fan for us and you can open the windows. Staff was very welcoming. Would have no problem staying there in cooler months.

Lovely family-owned hotel near railway station

Very nice family-owned hotel near the railway station and short walk also Salzburg Old Town. The hotel is fairly simple but has a lovely personal touch. Breakfast is very good for a small hotel. Great and helpful service!

Personally I would prefer wooden floors in the room, and no carpet.

Old-fashioned hotel, in a good sense

This is an old-fashioned hotel, in a good sense. People at the reception desk are fantastic, trying to do their best so that your stay at the hotel and in the city will be a success. The hotel is also conveniently located close to the train station, Schloss Mirabell, and only a 15-minute walk from the Altstadt.

The breakfast room gets easily crowded.

The hotel perfectly reflects the charm of Salzburg: quirky and colourful, yet elegant and peaceful.

My partner and I enjoyed our stay at Hotel Hohenstauffen very much. The peaceful ambiance, kind staff, beautiful vintage decor, real keys instead of cards, and the baroque salon filled with classic board games were wonderful additions to our experience. All the basic amenities were there too: the bed was cosy, breakfast was very tasty, and the location was perfect-close to many attractions, the river, the main train station, and other public transport. The Wi-Fi was decent, our room was quiet, and there was ample parking space. The staff also responded quickly to my message on Booking.com. We're already planning to stay here again when we visit Salzburg (hopefully very soon).

Nice, historic and well-situated hotel

Good location - near the central train station. Was very clean. The staff seemed pleasant and accommodating. The furniture was in good condition.

My specific bedroom and bathroom was very small. Expected the furniture to be rather antique, but most of it in my room was made from chipboard. From the room could hear some talking and walking in corridors (guests however seemed quite respectful - there was not much noisy activity during the evenings/ nights).

Lovely Vintage Beautiful Hotel

Very helpful front desk. Room was beautiful and also arranged the food we had asked for with yummy breakfast. They also kelp our luggage for next day as we saw the city a bit more. Travelling around was easy from the hotel location.

Stay here when you're in Salzburg!

Room is simple but clean. Location is perfect. saved me a lot of money using taxi and saved a lot of time using the bus. It's so close to the train station. The staff were all amazing. Day and night staff were all cheerful and helpful. Breakfast was very good too. I will definitely stay here again when I come back.

We had a wonderful stay

The hotel is located not far from the main train station and within walking distance or a short drive from anywhere in the old city. We received a spacious and pleasant family apartment, the breakfast was excellent, the staff was very kind. This is a traditional family hotel with a vintage design. We had a great time.

Not up to standard. Won't return unfortunately

I liked the location of the hotel as it was close to the train station. Beds were comfortable. The reception is impressive, ver nice and preserved.

The room was in an attic. I hit my head more than 10.times against the ceiling. The room is very old and has no basic necessities such as fridge and a/c. The price of 525 was very expensive for just 2 nights in a room which was not up to standard. When I complained, the personell could do nothing as the hotel was full. They offered just 5% discount.

walking distance from hbf and city ctr but salzburg is so small everything is already walking distance

Noise from the double doors in the room, heavy keys, sub par guests that reek of smoke and slams shut the doors. It's right by the street and the constant traffic and party crowd noises drove me crazy when I needed to wake up late or take a nap. the breakfast room is tiny and gets filled up fast. The staff went above and beyond. So friendly and helpful!!! The breakfast was wonderful, affordable and great quality. Location was perfect, close to train station. I was able to walk to the old town in 10 min!

Exceptional

Extremely friendly staff. Sparklingly clean. The hotel has been with the same family for three generations, so they know what they're doing. Very nice breakfast for an additional price. Location close to the train station. Within a walking distance to all sightseeing sites.
