Hotel Ehranger Hof

We stayed in the junior suite with private sauna and hottub. In one word: fantastic! We read some of the negative reviews on this site and quite frankly we have no idea what everyone is so negative about. We absolutely loved our 2 nights with Ehranger Hof. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Booking.com doesn't do the place justice. The junior suite does have an air conditioner and even a little refrigerator for some cold drinks etc (not an overpriced minibar!). This was not mentioned on the website BTW. The girl at the reception was so friendly and helpful which made our stay feel a little like home. In the morning we had a great breakfast before heading into Trier for the day. After walking around Trier all day we really looked forward to our evening in the very spacious hotel room together. I've never experienced the desire to cut my day sightseeing short to have some extra time in our hotel room. Go figure...

The only thing I can think of which was on the negative side was the experience of booking through booking.com. This website is so confusing and incomplete. But that's not the hotel's fault of course. Next time we'll book by phone. We definitely will be staying at the Ehranger Hof in the future!

The room and the beds were good and relatively cool despite the hot weather.

They claimed we did not pay our room beforehand on two visits a fortnight apart. Table was blocking fire extinguisher in the hallway. Very bad WiFi. Parking is on the sidewalk or on the street a short walk away. The front desk employee mentioned that "their" parking at the other side of the road was not available now because of building activities. The parking lot is in front of the local train station. I am not sure how that can be the hotel parking. They said we had not paid while after checking twice this is something in Booking.com payment according to them. To us it looked like a payment scam. I believe the explanation one time but have trouble believing that on a second visit. Since there was a child present we made no fuzz on both occassions and insisted them to check. It was sorted out on both occassions but a waste of time and frustration. Then there was a fire extinguisher in the hallway with our room blocked by a tabel. I mentiond that on our first visit. They said they should take care of it. Two weeks later it was still there. In the hallway there was something that looked very much like a WiFi accesspoint with too long an ethernet cable coiled up to it and one open RJ45, which should not be accessible to the public. The owner phoned me in German about a bit more Dutch direct version of this review on booking .com and threated with legal action. He restated the problems with booking.com and that they were looking into this. He stated that the table was no problem according to a friend with the local fire department, but that thet removed the table now. He stated that the device in the hallway was not an accesspoint. I have the phone call on file for further reference, which I am allowed to have as a Dutch citizen. I emailed the Trier fire department with the photo and will update this review when I receive an answer. I updated this review given the extra information.

A simple and straightforward hotel, nothing fancy however I did enjoy my stay. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the food in the restaurant was delicious!

It is close to the train station, the place has a homey touch and the staff is very considerate of your needs

There is nothing to Like about this property. No staff at all and Owner is very rude and aggressive.

I had the worst experience of my Hotel Stay experiences here despite Travelling and staying in 42 countries which can be checked against my record in Booking.com as well. The picture of this property are very deceiving and room is nothing close to what have been shown to us at the time of the booking. There is no mention of Check-in Time during the booking process and it’s Universal Rule that Check-In begins at 15:00. We reached the property at 15:15 and owner/Manager refused to check-In until 16:00 and he was very aggressive and tone of voice is no where near to polite over the phone. The building was locked and it’s not a hotel rather an Apartment building with no reception or any other employees. Only 1 card was issued and we have been refused by the owner to get the other card and have to pay additionally which is very ridiculous. You have to wait outside in smouldering heat and have to waste your precious time just because this business has very less employees. The room that have been given to us lack the cleaning and it was not properly managed in terms of cleanliness during out stay. It has been portrayed on Booking.com that This hotel has Sauna as well but it’s totally wrong and it’s only for 1 Room. The room that we had received doesn’t have the Wooden floor as well as shown in pictures. We stayed here for 3 nights and regretted our decision from the start for staying here. Nobody cleaned the room till 15:00-16:00 next day and bathroom was not clean at all and was like this till our last day in this hotel. On our 3rd day no one came to clean at all and without our consent, no disturb coupon had been placed on our door. We asked the Owner/Manager that we would like to Check-Out at 11:30 AM on our last date which is today and he refused again to compensate us. We Checked-Out today around 8:30 AM then and have to change out whole Travel Plan just because owner didn’t compensate the late Check-Out.

In this hotel I have met a very unfriendly stuff! I would not recommend the hotel for nobody.
