Great central location
1.0 / 10.0
The hotel's location is very close to the city center.
When we arrived, I had to speak with the front desk because there were insects in the room.
We were given a second room, but unfortunately, it had a dirty bathroom and a strong smell of tobacco. Not to mention the peeling ceiling — the place definitely needs a renovation.
The front desk staff agreed to cancel the reservation and assured us we’d be reimbursed. As a result, we left and had to find and pay for another hotel on short notice, with the resulting extra cost.
However, two months later, we still haven't received the reimbursement from Mercure as promised.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience—especially for a 4-star hotel.

Very comfortable, great location and very clean
Staff was unprepared

Very handy location for sightseeing, dining, etc. Very comfortable bed.
The room was very small, the towels supplied on day 2 smelled so musty they made the whole room smell bad, no amenities (no shower cap, body lotion, hair conditioner, milk for tea/coffee, etc.), frigo nearly invisible, cobwebs in the corners. But the worst was the very slippery shower floor with no mat and no grab bars for safety! I'm 79 and all I immediately thought, 'this is a law suit waiting to happen.' I had to put the hand towel on the floor of the shower which caused a minor flood into the room. No luggage assistance.

We liked the location and the breakfast. The entire staff was exceptionally nice.

friendly and supportive staff
1-Noisy room next to the bar.
2-Parking is not suitable for large vehicles.
3-Bathroom had no door (though they changed the room afterwards).
7.0 / 10.0
1) The parking area is not very practical and presents challenges for larger vehicles, particularly in the -1 level.
2) There is a noisy bar located next to the hotel, which affected our comfort during the first night. We initially stayed in room x (first floor) and requested a change; fortunately, the reception staff were very friendly and accommodating in assisting us with a room change.
3) Additionally, it is worth noting that some rooms have bathrooms without doors, which is rather unusual and may not suit all guests.

Very stylish and well appointed room. My daughter told me the hair dryer in her room is excellent. There was a good choice at the buffet breakfast.

Location, staff, bed, bathroom.
Dirty carpet, too expensive breakfast (didn't have it). Kettle too small, corridors too dark.

The room was comfortable. One staff member at check in wasn’t that friendly but everyone else was fine.
The neighborhood was a bit rough. lots of boarded up windows and sketchy looking people hanging around.
6.0 / 10.0
Breakfast was reasonable,
Staff seemed indifferent with little or no effort to engage, the room was dark and small which didn’t encourage you to spend any time there,
As a budget option it would be OK but the price is steep for what it is,

good central location with easy access to Rennes centre.
No bar in the hotel. Car park has a very tight and steep entrance down the ramp but you can park a larger car in the courtyard if space available.

This is a clean, comfortable and well appointed property with secure on site parking and only a 5 or 10 mins brisk walk from the centre of the old town.
My only gripe with this hotel, and the reason why I marked it down in my overall rating and why I will avoid Mercure hotels in future is the wifi situation. Mercure will not let you log on to their wifi if you use a VPN. Personally, I would not dream of logging on to a public or third party wifi without using a VPN, as I am not comfortable with a third party (in this case Mercure's IT system, or possibly other randoms) being able to monitor and log my computer activity. For those travelers who do not care about this kind of thing, you can disregard the above and add 1.5 points to my rating.

very central location
it’s quite loud outside on the street during the nights especially Thursday to Saturday. You can’t sleep with the windows open, which is a bit of a pity during summer. Yes, there is a air condition but it’s loud and unhealthy.
The double room is quite small and with a toddler it is nearly impossible to stay too long in the room.

The staff on reception were extremely pleasant and helpful. The location was great and there was onsite parking.
It was a bit tight to get into the underground parking.

Great location for visiting all Rennes sights. We were allocated a very spacious room which had kettle and coffee maker and mini bar with complimentary soft drinks. The hotel wasn’t busy; didn’t appear to be many other guests. There was a independent student’s bar below the hotel open until 1am which was noisy.
The raucous independent bar frequented by locals located below the hotel

Wonderful friendly helpful staff.
Lovely clean hotel. Good breakfast.
Big room, very clean. Lovely touch of a free mini bar of soft drinks.
Bed is very comfortable. Breakfast very well stocked and plenty variety, coffee was very good (which is very important with a baby! )
Perfect location to walking of everything, and numerous restaurants and shops!
Hotel is above a very popular bar, at the weekend its extremely noisy, ALL night, even on the top floor you can hear the music from the bar, and that's even when the music moves to the basement of the bar!!
Cot provided for 1year old is far too small, more suitable for a new born to 6 month old!
