Everything about this property was exceptional, especially the owner’s and staff. The breakfast was outstanding.

WOW. what a stay. The attention to detail in the rooms is impeccable, the decor compliments the authenticity of the cave. They are absolutely stunning and have the wow factor. The hosts are excellent, they cannot do enough to help you and recommend places to drink, eat and visit.

Aqua Cave was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. If you're looking for an authentic Matera experience without sacrificing comfort, this is the place to stay. The cave room was beautiful, but the standout feature was the amazing bath. After a day of exploring the Sassi, soaking in it was the perfect way to relax. The location is excellent, the breakfast was delicious, and the staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. A unique, luxurious, and memorable stay that truly captures the magic of Matera. We would absolutely stay here again.

Loved literally everything

Short walk to town, friendly host

Staying in a cave is ok 1 night for novelty but room is not functional or comfortable. Dark room (cave, no windows), lacking furniture to put suitcases or set or hang things. Literally lived out of suitcases on the floor for 3 nights. Unless the weather is nice (3 nights of bad weather (cannot blame anyone!) for us you cannot enjoy any outdoor space here) breakfast is indoors. We were visiting late March. Matera can be enjoyed fully within 2 nights.
