The stand out feature of Torretta ai Sassi is quite clearly the view... which is absolutely unbelievable! The photos certainly don't lie, but it's something that you can't fully appreciate until you actually experience it. It was the main reason that we chose this place for our stay and we weren't disappointed. But what you can't see from the photos is the amazing warmth and helpfulness of the hosts. Valentina helped with directions and parking options before we even arrived. The moment we got there she shared recommendations of what to see and where to eat, even booking a restaurant for our evening meal. When we mentioned fancying a glass of wine, she not only supplied a lovely bottle of chilled white wine, but provided shade in the garden in which to enjoy it, setting up a large parasol to shield us from the strong afternoon sun and moving some of their garden furniture. Fagiolina the cat even made an appearance to complete the experience! Aperitivi on the terrace in the evening watching the sun set on the stone city is something we will never forget. And enjoying a quiet cup of coffee on our own private terrace overlooking that view before heading off to see the sites... priceless! People sometimes say that a hotel/B&B is just a place to lie your head on a night, but this is one of those places that truly enhances your stay, transforming it into something extra special and creating amazing memories that will stay with you for years. My recommendation... book now!
There is absolutely nothing to dislike about this place, though you should of course be aware of the steps... but then this is Matera, so steps are pretty much a given!

Great location overlooking the whole of Matera but close to everything. Host was perfect. Cocktails on the terrace for sunset beautiful.

Pretty pretty pretty place that has amazing view of Matera. If anyone comes to Matera i would recommend this place. The host is also lovely and helpful where she gave us a map and all the nice places to go to and visit while in Matera. Definitely one of the best place I've ever gotten from this website
