No hot water shower

nothing
We arrived in this room, there were a lot of mosquitoes, and no mosquito net. The bathroom looked very old, the shower was just a piece of bamboo coming out of the wall with only cold water. They were building right next door and pieces of concrete were falling everywhere. We requested a refund which took a lot of time but eventually was granted. We left the same day to another room. Also, for this price, you can get much better rooms in Amed. Very disappointing experience.

I came from Ubud looking for nature and peace and Pelangi Beach Homestay was exactly what I needed.
The staff couldn’t be more helpful and nice. Teresa is amazing, she made my stay even better, giving plenty of information, local insight and advices.
My room had Airco, there’s no hot water but who needs it in this weather, and it comes from a tank in the rooftop so it’s kinda warm.
The bed is super comfortable and the views are amazing
I liked everything. Is not luxurious but I wasn’t looking for that. To me it was perfect

The view you get for the price you pay is incredible. Just like the humble family who own the place, they were very welcoming. The homestay is a great location too as everything you need is within walking distance.
Very rustic facilities. The pillows are hard and so is the mattress, I could feel the metal springs. Only a thin bedsheet provided to cover if you turn on the aircon (which was thank god working but didn't cool as much). The shower is just a bamboo stick with water falling, cold only. The toilet could only be flushed once and after that you had to wait at least half an hour for the water to fill again. Also comes with a hole in the wall that serves as a window, which you can't close. Same as for the doors, they didn't close fully so any type of animal can come into your room. The curtains in the room were bright pink plastic sheets that didn't help much against the light. I didn't mind to wake up at 6.15am but other people might be bothered. Breakfast is served from 7am but it's nothing more than 2 slices of white bread cooked in vegetable oil and fruits. I appreciate the family offering something but preferred any of the other coffee shops around.

The sea in my backyard..the noise of the waves. No noise from the street. Air cond.
Shady bushes in front of my windows..good Warung Enak very close.. exceptional cooking including European and sekali chocolate cakes...and EXCELLENT European Breakfast all day...
SEEING MY FRIENDS at other guest houses along the beach!!! Really nice to keep in touch with them!
A bit rustic..it rained a bit in my downstairs bathroom...it was always wet..on the floor to go to the toilet... unpleasant!
When the weather was good it was NOT a problem...but the mosquitoes ALWAYS in the bathroom WERE A PROBLEM...! Caused by the water...health problem! Danger!
I don't want dengue fever..! I have already had chronic fatigue virus for 1 year when I was younger!!!

The only good thing about the property was its proximity to the beach. You can lie down on the bed outside your room and gaze at the sea. The sunset if you’re lucky to catch any is 10 steps away from your room.
When I checked in: I noticed the AC remote wasn’t working and this was taken care by the local staff. The door to the washroom wasn’t closing and the window in the washroom was broken which the staff said they did in order for ventilation but my concern was the mosquitoes that would come in and make it impossible to sleep and this was the case. The tap in the washroom sink was also not working - I communicated all of this with the host on WhatsApp and she made excuses saying “it’s a budget property pending renovations that will happen later this year”but I don’t care because I paid full price lol.
Anyway, the staff managed to fix the bathroom door and the tap the next day so that was helpful and I survived the first night with HIT spray and an electric mosquito machine and slathering myself in sofel.
Also worth nothing that the main entrance of the room had a gap in between the sliding doors and it wasn’t a sturdy lock - as a solo female traveller this was concerning because I don’t know the area and anyone could easily break in but the owner tried to reassure and convince me it’s a safe place and people leave their doors open no one has ever been in danger. Still inconvenient in my opinion as this was basic safety.
The breakfast provided as part of the booking was super average and mid. I found the watermelon to be sour 2/3 days I think it went bad.
Also big disclaimer that it rains quite a bit in Amed - I was there May 5-9 and it rained 3/4 days and when it rains the water floods near the hotel making it tough to walk to the hotel. I whatsapped the host/owner about it but she responded 2 days later so it wasn’t helpful at all. I like the local staff on the premise but the actual owner of the Homestay couldn’t care less or help out. She said I can choose to find another place to stay and she’d refund me but that wasn’t a helpful response.

Location, view and staff were amazing. Nyoman and team always helpful and offering hot drinks and breakfast or other rentals. Million dollar view and right on the beach cant beat it.

Lovely and helpful owner/staff. Nice beach-facing upper room.
The main street of Amed was torn up and under construction, makes whole town undesirable for now.

That was our best stay in Indonesia! The room was comfortable with a beautiful terrace surounded by plants pointing at the ocean which is 50 meters in front. The place is very cozy, the atmosphere is very relaxing and friendly and kept in order by two cute dogs. The staff was very very helpful and nice, always greeting us with an honest smile. Every morning we had a different local breakfast with different fruits and coffee anytime. The location is perfect : a shop in front, plenty of restaurants and diving centers around. The owners can also organise a pick up from Gilimanuk harbour for a reasonable price. Definitely a place to stay at, if you come to Amed.

The location was good. Accessible to most of the convenience stores, cafes, restaurants nearby. Good view from the room and 1 minute walk from the beach.
The staff and property owners were very kind and super helpful.
The bed was super squeaky and the mattress was not comfortable
We stayed for 6 days and no aircon in the room made it difficult to sleep with a squeaky bed and an uncomfortable mattress in the hot room.
Good breeze if the doors were left open but then it invites mossies and bugs to add on to the misery.

The style of accommodation. Simple but clean. Very quiet and beach front even not direct access from the property. Close to eveything. Family ambience. The staff and owner are howsome. The breakfast generous and delicious.
Just the small street , flooding when rain. Cannot park in front of the property but anyway, Amed is still a safe place

great location with a beautiful sea view… i liked the Hippie- Style and felt very much at home. the Owners Sophie and Wayan are very caring. the rooms are simple (cold shower) but clean … and sleeping with the sound of the waves is priceless.
softer cushions would be nice.

not really.
Homestays are suitable for people who are looking for a more affordable accommodation. People who like good hotels and perfect places I think there isn’t here. No warm water is provided. but the owner is very nice

location with vie of the sea was lovely, nicely decorated room, good aircon and excellent WiFi
Bed and pillows very hard. The walkway up to the property floods with any rain and is rocky and very muddy, not the properties fault but we got wet and muddy feet everyday.
shower powerful but cold

the super kind & generous owners and staff, the view from the balcony, the breakfast, u can make use of their kitchen, comfy bed.
due to rain (in rainy season) the path to their homestay floods, is a bit unpractical but not a big problem.

The hospitality, and the room. I had a very nice room upstairs with beautiful view and a lot of light with windows from floor to ceiling on two sides and curtains to cover if it was too sunny. I had both fan and AC which I appreciate. Big beakfast, which they made vegan for me. They helped with everything possible from borrowing me snorkel equipment to ordering dinner from nearby restaurant when it was raining a lot. Its very close to Warung Enak that has very good food.
Only that the access was a bit muddy when it had rained a lot.

The host Sophie is really nice, very helpful and you get the experience of living with a Balinese family. The roof toop is nice to see the sun rise... I wish I did it at sunset too actually.
I was looking for somewhere to really treat myself, reward myself after a tough year... Be right on the ocean and have "Millionaire Queen Level" service and care... Basically I was looking for something more comfortable and rich as I know I can afford here, so I just realized I needed something different, more "luxury comfort".

A very friendly, familylike atmosphere created by Anne-Sophie, Wayan and the lovely helping hands. Helpful for any kind of request, including transport or bootticket. A perfect stay, where I relaxed and felt welcome. The view from the colorful and cosy rooms at the ocean is at any time amazing.

this place is such a little gem, the rooms are simple but tastefully decorated. The place is very very clean and has a lot of soul. It was a welcome change for us after staying in some more sterile hotel rooms. The position is also very good, nearby to shops and restaurants and literally in front of the beach. All the rooms have the most amazing ocean view!
Not a dislike, but if you have the option get the room with air con as Amed gets pretty hot.

The location was great, right on the beach and central / walking distance to many restaurants. Sophie and the staff were really helpful - whether it was arranging a driver / guide for a day of site seeing or running me 5 min down the road on a motorbike. Also the views from the room / rooftop of Mt Agung were amazing.
The room I was in was quite warm from the sun during the day, not a problem if you are out and about exploring all day.

Everything! We came as a group of 3 remote working friends. Wifi is very good for working, video calls and everything (around 20Mbps download and 15 Mbps upload).
Beds really comfortable, and the view… ah the view 😍
The host family and staff are also incredibly nice
It’s been an awesome stay.
Disclaimer: The water is not heated, but it’s not cold either, so it hasn’t been a problem at all
