Quiet Garden Paradise to Explore Dubrovnik with Friendly and Welcoming Host

Maria is an excellent host and I felt like I was family. I arrived from Split late (around 9:30 PM - 10:00) and in the middle of a torrential downpour. Maria met me in the pouring rain and helped me park my car in a temporary parking spot before it could be moved to a proper parking spot the next day. Maria is a very kind and very genuine person. She took the time to make me feel comfortable and welcome which I always appreciate as a woman traveling alone. I felt safe and taken care of. It’s clear that Maria has been a host for decades and really wants her guests to have a great experience in Dubrovnik. She has a coloured city map that she went over with me and highlighted: 1) the sights to see 2) the paths to take 3) restaurants recommended by prior guests. On my last day, Maria went out of her way painfully early in the morning at 3 AM to drop me off at my car so I could head to the airport for a very early 6 AM flight. I was so grateful to Maria for doing this and this specific example shows how kind and generous she is to her guests. Maria’s home is very close to Old Town Dubrovnik without being in the center of the city and tourist crowds. It takes maybe a 15 min walk to get to Ploce Gate to do Dubrovnik City Walls. I was able to easily explore the City and get home stress free. Maria has a beautiful back yard with many healthy and vibrant plants and an open air kitchen (with gas stove) which guests can use. It was nice to relax in that space after a long day spent exploring. Maria provided an electric kettle so I could make tea and also a mini fridge with 3 complimentary beverages - sparkling water, coke, and beer. I don’t usually drink beer or soda so I only drank the water. I really appreciate Maria’s thoughtfulness to her guests and their comfort.

I loved staying here. All in all, my stay at Maria’s guest home in Dubrovnik was lovely and I felt welcomed like family. I would absolutely come back and stay here when I visit Dubrovnik again.

Wonderful, just wish we could have stayed longer.

We had the pleasure of making our own breakfast in the kitchen of an original Croatian open kitchen. Most interesting and to enjoy our meal while gazing at Maria's garden was a treat. There were even a family of tortoise. A long walk to old town, was longish but interesting. Very nice restaurant at the end of the steps. The supermarket is very close to home. Do try Maria's she makes very pleasant memories. Thank you Maria you are a gem.

Superb

Maria is a great host. We have a 4 year old son and we felt like we were staying with our bigger family. She is very kind and warm. House and garden is very much child friendly with a cat, parrot, fish and several turtles.

If you don't mind being around a poor bird that is forced into a tiny cage, this is a good place.

The location is good. It's a nice walk down to Dubrovnik old town and Maria makes a big effort to be nice to her guests

Unfortunately, I was not able to enjoy this beautiful property to its full potential. The owner has a bird that she captured from the wild, forced into a tiny cage. The cage is so small, the bird is not even able to spread it's wings and it is in an obviously bad state of health. It is heartbreaking to watch.

Exceptional

Our entire experience at this guest host was superb. Maria was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble, we felt very cared for. Her terrace, outdoor kitchen and fantastic garden was a pleasure to spend time in. It also gave us a unique, new experience cooking outdoors, and it was lovely to meet the animals! Our room was spacious, super clean with a lovely bathroom. We felt very at home here, sleeping very comfortably each night. It is also a beautiful property. We cannot thank Maria enough for her hospitality and care.

Maria is such a wonderful welcoming host! She picked us up and dropped us off from the harbour in Dubrovnik, gave us local tips and advice and helped with anything we needed. The house is beautiful with a lovely terrace and comfortable bedrooms, and is really well located - only a short walk to the old town.

Wonderful stay!

Great stay! Maria was very welcoming, helped us with information about places we could visit for out short stay. We loved the house and the paradise garden she created. It was e pleasure staying here and we'd love to come back! She provides a parking space that is about 5-7 minutes away (by car) but you can leave your luggage upon arrival and then park your car in the parking spot, as we did. The house is 5-6 minutes away from old Dubrovnik (by foot) which was excellent!

Maria is a wonderful hostess, all previous comments are true! The house is beautiful, a proper home and when you see the garden and outdoor kitchen for the first time, you know you’re going to enjoy your stay. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and spotless (with a kettle, Brits!) and the shower is huge and powerful. Maria was SO kind to me as a solo traveller,she loves her home and wants others to feel the same. Thank you!

Exceptionally welcoming hostess. Just follow her advices and you get as much as possible in Dubrovnik. Nice garden and terrace. Good location - 10-15 minutes by feet to the Dubrovnik castle or to supermarkets in opposite direction. Parking is a mandatory option if you plan to visit Dubrovnik by a car.

It was very hard to found the route for driving to the property. But the hostess explained us where we should arrive when we phoned her.

I had more than I expected ! Maria is an amazing person, full of kindness! Her house is really great! Well situated, 10min by walk to the old city! She is available! Maria has been very welcoming, very friendly. She's helped us with parking. Kitchen and garden are very nice. There are so many interesting details and animals! My daughter was very excited about feeding the fishes. Location is very good, you can reach Pile gate in 10 minutes by foot. And a couple of minutes to the nearest supermarket.

Miła gospodyni, dobra lokalizacja ale bez luksusów.

Bardzo miła gospodyni. Pokoje bardzo czyste i schludne. Czysta lodówka i sprawnie działająca klimatyzacja. Ok. 10-15 min do bramy Pile. 5 minut do dobrze zaopatrzonego sklepu spożywczego. Bardzo na plus możliwość pozostawienia bagaży do czasu zakwaterowania/po wykwaterowaniu.

Pokój i wyposażenie już nieco stare. Powoli warto byłoby już pomyśleć o remoncie i wymianie wyposażenia.

Encantadora y tranquila estancia

María fue tan servicial, nos acompañó a dejar el vehículo en una plaza gratuita, y nos dio todo tipo de facilidades. Sus recomendaciones fueron muy útiles. Siempre con una sonrisa, incluso nos ofreció unas bebidas a nuestra llegada. La habitación era espaciosa y las camas muy cómodas. El aire acondicionado funcionaba de maravilla, lo cual se agradece en un destino tan insufriblemente caluroso. Tiene un patio compartido con el resto de huéspedes súper acogedor en el que poder relajarte, fuera de todo bullicio de la ciudad.

Es un alojamiento al que se tarda poco en llegar desde el centro, tal vez 15min andando (sobre todo si tienes coche la ubicación es inmejorable), pero para llegar hay una cuesta con escaleras que se puede hacer bastante dura, especialmente si hace calor. No obstante, tener en cuenta que en cuanto sales del casco histórico peatonal todas las calles son cuesta arriba. Que la cocina sea exterior (ubicada en el patio de la casa) exige un nivel de limpieza más profundo en esa zona, sobre todo en tema insectos.

Vriendelijk en knus verblijf

Hele (gast)vriendelijke eigenaresse, super mooie locatie en tuin. Vanaf het guest house is alles goed bereikbaar. De stad is vanaf hier goed te bereiken te voet, en Maria legt je duidelijk uit hoe je daar kan komen. Al met al een geweldig verblijf gehad in een knusse guest house nabij een mooie stad.
