Casa Balcony

We loved our stay at Casa Balcony. The apartment was exactly as featured in the listing, aside from there being no wisteria on the balcony, which actually gave us even better views. The balcony is comfortable for standing or setting out a couple of chairs to enjoy the scenery, and the view is equally stunning from inside the apartment with the curtains drawn open. The bedrooms and beds are generously sized, with plenty of space to hang and store your clothes. The apartment also had helpful amenities like a blow dryer and iron, and the air conditioning was a huge relief (featured in all rooms) after coming back from sightseeing in 90°F+ heat! They also provided a very helpful guide with information about the apartment and recommendations for the surrounding area, which was a nice resource to have during our stay. The location is excellent, with quick access to both the ferry and train. One thing to keep in mind when staying in Varenna in general is that navigating stairs is part of the experience. Depending on where you are coming from, you may encounter uneven or older stone steps and will need to navigate stairs either up or down to reach the apartment. The unit itself is also one flight up. Alberto met us in person with the keys and was incredibly helpful, even assisting with our luggage on the way in. My lovely husband handled getting it back out to meet our car in the piazza! I highly recommend staying here. It has all the charm you could want, a fantastic location, and truly beautiful views.

The only thing to note is the hot water. It worked well for us since one of us showers in the morning and the other at night, but you may need to space out showers to balance hot water usage.

By far the best views on Como! Really comfortable. Owners had prepared so that every need catered for before we asked. I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Italy and this is my favourite by far!
