it’s so peaceful and such a hidden gem off the main road. embraces the true ubud style and character! the pool is so nice and the food was excellent. we had both breakfast and dinner! the raw cakes will always be a huge hit for me! we had a Balinese massage and flower bath. our treatments were amazing! I found the facilities to be very clean and well looked after.
if you lack mobility you may find it hard to navigate the cute & narrow pathways without railings or handrails. May not be suitable for those who aren’t confident walking on wet paths if it rains

The Shala Bali is a beautiful hidden village, with an amazing pool area and nice breakfast. It is a little walk through the ricefields to the actual village, which is cute and idyllic. It also takes you away from the city noise, whilst still being close to everything. It even connects to Sedona Spa and Yellow Flower via the backway (only on foot).
We booked a bungalow, which was in the spa area which is next to the road instead of in the actual hidden village. For the amount they charged, the bungalow was very underwhelming. If you book I would reach out and make sure you're in the Shala village, and not the spa area.

It’s perfect for staying in central ubud yet having a tucked away and calm space to rest at after a whole day out and about. It’s restaurant for guests and the complex that is around it is at the back of the reception’s property, a short walk away. But that walk feels so magical and special. It feels as if you’ve stepped through a portal all your own and you’re surrounded by lush nature and rice fields. You forget for a moment that you’re staying in bustling Ubud.
I feel like the kitchen part of the villas can be updated to look cozier and cuter so it fits in with the overall image.

The rooms are large. we stayed in a villa so it was quite luxurious. They are getting a little worn and tired.
They have no safe storage space to store bags unless you specifically ask. and we think it is in the main office. Check out was a very convoluted process for us. We waited about 20 minutes to get our bags and to pay our bill. not normal for Bali.

we had the pleasure to stay close to the beautiful pool which was very nice, also close to breakfast and the Cafe. the walk from the street is further than expected but very nice, we liked it a lot. the staff is also very friendly. would recommend!
the ac is not that efficient, it worked so so.
but I was managable.
also, before we got here we did not realize that there was no classes in the nice big yoga studio that was shown, and it was fully booked the whole time we stayed. could be mentioned in bookings.com

Amazing stay at the Shala. We stayed in the villa suite with a private pool and kitchen, and comes with breakfast. Exceeded our expectations, everything was beautiful and perfect.
No hairdryer, low/no Wi-Fi (although good to disconnect)

Everything was perfect. I had a big bedroom suite (I was really not expecting something that huge), the swimming pool was great, the team was really nice.
A bit more difficult to have a cab/ a Bluebird driver waiting for you in this place

my room location was in the rice paddy fields. and the vegetarian food was good.
I think it was getting a little worn - the mosquito net had holes in it, the bathroom was looking old and mouldy. the breakfast starts about 1/2 hour late compared to other places.

The property setting in the rear is amazing, right out there in the patty fields! However, this led to some major confusion in getting there via Goggle maps (July '22). Goggle maps showed the property way back from the main street, which it is, but the check-in desk in on the main street and you just walk back to the rooms/pool/yoga hall from there. Simple! Apple maps showed the front desk, fyi.
Food was great, staff were great and we really enjoyed our stay here. My wife had an awful ear infection during this time and didn't get to enjoy the amenities as much as she had hoped, so we missed out on yoga and messages.
Its a little way away from central Ubud, so its a bit of a hike but the flip side to that, it was very quite and peaceful!
This is a catch 22! But, it would've been nice to have wifi connection in the room, however it was available close by where we ate breakfast. This did help in keeping screen time to a minimum, which can't be a bad thing.

you are truly immersed in nature. good healthy food selection, amazing views of the rice fields. really worth trying the spa treatments which are reasonable and really great and if you are there on the right day the sound healing is exceptional. rooms are comfortable and in tune with the surrounding rice fields. lovely pool with a great view.

Gorgeous floating breakfast available by the pool, bit long 5 min walk from the entrance to our room, lovely staff at their spa.
Not-so-friendly staff at the reception / Mumbai Station. There was only one staff working in the kitchen for dinner at the café. The Wi-Fi connection was not good in our room.

Cute, quiet cottages surrounded by beautiful plants. The walk around the property is very relaxing. There are rice fields and an overlooking outdoor yoga studio. Friendly staff.

We stayed here to be near to the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival and our bungalow was less than 100m from the venue
Some bungalows are located very deep into the property - you need to walk about 10 - 15 minutes along a narrow, winding, often steep path to get to your room. After dark it can be very hard to find your way. There is no phone to the main reception, you need to walk there (along an unmarked path) if you need to ask for something. Bungalows are right next to the only footpath in and out of the property, and it can be very noisy late at night
