Great location about 7 min to center. It was quiet and good balcony overlooking the jungle. Bed was comfy, AC worked great. Fun puppy and great family that was loving and responsive.
The bathroom was small, smelly and odor would go into the bedroom. There are rocks on the bottom of the shower which was very uncomfortable and felt very unsanitary. It was a light walk downhill from the street, not too bad, but keep it in mind.

The family were lovely. The room and view were beautiful.
There was loud construction noise coming from the back of the property all day, so I could not relax there.

Well located to Ubud Palace and the Kajeng walk.
Comfortable bed, abundant hot water and good water pressure.
Friendly and helpful family. I was caught in a freak accident and Alit and her dad were very supportive. Thank you🙏.
The family always informed us of activities in Ubud and sold tickets for a kecak performance.
Bali Asli is good value for money.
The photos are VERY VERY MISLEADING.
This led to immense disappointment.
There was zero sunshine in our room - it was dark and we needed to use the light even at 10 a.m.
The shared areas were unclean and almost depressing.
PROPERTY is not suitable if you have mobility issues. Yes, there is one photo of stairs on booking.com but the steps to our room were steep and uneven. There was a basic handrail and very dangerous for kids. I hurt my knee during my stay and had to stay indoors because going up and down was too painful.
I felt the dining area was very uninviting so I did not have breakfast.

The location in terms of getting to the centre of Ubud, is god, walkable, but beware of the traffic.
Access to the rooms is a problem. You enter from the road, walk on the level for 20 metres then decent a flight of steep stone steps. Another long flight of steep steps leads up to the room. There are over 30 steps. This wouldn’t be a major problem were the steps like normal steps. However, the height of the individual steps (the risers) are far too high. Typically step risers fall between 150mm and 180mm. I didn't have a tape measure, but these were about 500mm, making the rooms very difficult and dangerous to access. My companion had fallen injured her knee a few days earlier. She had no problem walking up many flights of normal steps (150mm and 180mm risers), but had to crawl up, dirty, damp, moss-covered steps these using her hands. It was impossible to carry a 20kg suitcase to the room. The hosts had a sherpa would did this but when we checked out, they weren’t onsite and had to be called, whilst the taxi driver waited up on the road. There is a photograph is the promotion showing some steps, but it is easy to miss the photo, or misunderstand what this mean. How high are the steps, do you need to ascend these steps every time you access your room, sometimes in the dark? Potential guests should be alerted before booking that this place is not suitable for some people. There has been negative feedback on access issues on Booking.com about this in the past. If you’re a fit or 18-30, no worries. Reconsider if you are not in this demographic or have any problem climbing up long flights of steep, dirty, mossy steps. When you got into the room, they were large and nice for the price, with a balcony overlooking the treetops and the staff were friendly.

The atmosphere was nice, familiar and welcoming
Cats and dogs around with a bit of untidiness of the place in general. I had a parrot in a cage right behind my head and could not sleep quietly during the nights. Full of rusters around.

Ketut and Made were both very friendly and helpful, making sure I am comfortable and providing information about local culture and places to visit and where to find things, it was a true pleasure staying with them.

Location. Staff was extremely kind, cleaned the room early to let me in. Also i had 2 huge suitcases the host was kind to carry them down to the room..(a lot of stairs)
I think they were in a rush, used towel was left in the bathroom. no aircon in the room.

We had an exceptional stay at this lodge. The room was expectedly large, and was clean and comfortable. It had a nice balcony with a stunning and peaceful view of the jungle. It is close to many cafes, warungs and attractions. The hosts were really lovely and made us feel at home. They told us about their family, local culture and local recommendations and were able to make various arrangements for us. One night we ordered the Balinese dinner which was delicious and they explained each of the dishes. This stay really gave us insight into the heart of Ubud!
The property is a 10 minute walk from Ubud centre but we liked this as central Ubud was far too busy.

Where do I start? I’m forever grateful for your hospitality and kindness Alit.
Alit picked me up at the entrance of the alley upon my arrival. She welcomed me with a smile to her home. I went wow from the moment I stepped into the compound. This is a family compound. A real life and soul of Bali.
The room itself was a treasure. No fancy bed yet very comfortable, no TV, no fancy amenities. However, these are NOT the things that I am after. I’m after values that money can’t buy which I get to see the real life of Balinese, how the people live, their routines, their special family gatherings and their hospitality.
Bathroom and toilets are hygienic with basic amenities such as shampoo and shower gels, toilet paper.
Nice big front veranda looking out to an endless green forest with the sound of nature: birds, roosters and others. What a precious moment to just live and have this nature to your own at a very reasonable price!
I fell sick after the first night, Alit was very kind that she looked after me very well. Regularly checked in with me to see how I feel. She also offered breakfast every morning at a reason price.
Location: it takes around 10 minutes walk to town centre. I found town centre was full of people, I booked GRAB motorbike taxi to take me to the rice paddy fields which were so close to the homestay.
There is one thing I wish I knew that Alit’s dad - Ketut also offered tours and transport service. I would have definitely book him. A very kind man with great integrity and tremendous love for his home, culture and the island.
Once again Alit, thank you for welcoming me to your home and your hospitality. I look forward to seeing you and your family again when I come to Ubud next. Until then, take care 😊

Everything is great: big bed, very big room, amazing view with 100% privacy, silent AC, good pillows, towel and soap provided. Obviously the family, they are the kindest and they accomodated us for everything we needed. The bathroom and room were cleaned everyday without us asking, which was surprising but nice (maybe tell them before if you don't want them to enter the room in your absence).
The breakfast was simple but tasty.
The only reason I did not put 10/10 is the noise at night. 3m behind our head were a rooster and a hen starting singing at 6am. And we've stayed in a lot of places with rooster noises in the distance but here it was so so close that even with wax earplugs we could here them. Sadly because of these, half of each night was rough.
Maybe, just ask to be in another room if you're a light sleeper.

Very nice family ran guesthouse. The location is very close to Ubud centre, yet it's exceptionally quiet. I loved the jungle view from the room. It was a delight to work from here, even if only for a few days. The temperature was also pleasant.

The rooms were very nicely decorated in Balinese style and the location of our rooms was amazing with a view directly to the jungle, which was only just a few metres away! A beautiful wakening with all the colours and sounds of nature! We had a few roosters in the morning passing by and geckos making funny sounds at night. The house and its setting are very nice, but the humidity is so high that our towels or clothes could never dry unless left in the sun during the day. It's a particular experience and it's worth it for at least 3 or 4 days.
We think that towels should be changed at least every other day considering the humidity and the number of times one needs to use the shower. The breakfast, which was optional, was very small and modest, we took it only once. Guests should be provided with a kettle and some cups or glasses in rooms, and even a small fridge, instead of depending on the host for having a coffee or tea. The walk to the host's house is an effort with all the high steps. Some privacy of guests should also be more considered.

Comfy bed, Great Ac (plus a fan), Hot and powerful shower - All in a lovely traditional Balinese compound. Quiet location setback from the main road but still a short walk or scooter into the main areas of Ubud. Family are on hand to help with any bookings or questions about the area!

Staying here was a great decision—you are staying in a real family compound and they will take good care of you! Know that they can arrange tours, transfers and tickets, so it’s a one stop shop. Downtown Ubud is only a 15 minute walk, yet you feel like you’re staying in the jungle. There are roosters nearby, as anywhere in Ubud, so bring earplugs. Our favorite part was sitting on our back deck above the river to toast the coming evening.

Ketut, Made and their family were very welcoming and always prepared to help us and answer our questions. The room is beautiful and the balcony looks over a green forest. Be prepared to wake up with the sound of chilping birds and the local roosters :)

Made and her family are incredible, they made me feel right at home even though I am across the world traveling alone. It’s a beautiful property, the jungle and gardens surround the room. This homestay is a perfect way to learn about the Balinese culture. I highly recommend doing a cooking class with Made, we made chicken curry and it was incredible! So much love for this family.
it was perfect here

Amazing location- only a couple minutes from
Ubud central markets.
Did a cooking class with Made which was wonderful and Ketut kindly arranged airport transfers so it was stress f we :)
Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts.

Breakfast was fantastic every day! Everything was wonderful. It was a privilege and blessing to stay with Ketut and made. Ketut offered to drive us whenever we needed, and Made taught me Balinese cooking. They were welcoming and kind, and made my Bali experience so much better. If you’re looking for a more cultural and enriching experience, I would recommend staying here. The accomodation is great and the rooms are big and back onto the forest. There is nothing excessive and it’s humble.

We loved staying with Made and her family. It was one of the warmest welcomes we’ve had. the kids really enjoyed being in a family compound and having the freedom to make new friends. Recommend going to the temple dance and fire dance - this was one of our highlights. The children were very sad to leave as they said it had felt like home after a week.
We were there in the rainy season so it was damp in the lower room. Nothing could be done about this though. Everything was done to make our stay as good as possible.

The people! Real authentic homestay with open, helpful, welcoming hosts. Even though ubud is crazy busy with tourists and they are doing this for years, they are really happy that you stay at their place and do everything that you can enjoy your stay (breakfast, scooter, transport, sharing local family traditions). Also, the room offers quite a lot of privacy if you are looking for it. Big, clean, comfortable.
Nothing. As mentioned in other comments, you are living the family life which starts early I tee morning with the roosters :)
During rainy season, Ubud is not the best place to be imo.

This cosy authentic homestay is located with the kindest Balinese family. My room was spacious, spotless and cleaned every day while I was out which was lovely to come back to. Affordable breakfast eaten on my terrace was a highlight. Listening to the abundance of wildlife sitting in the trees right outside my balcony. Good WiFi. Comfy bed. Ketut and Made were so kind, I received a wonderful massage and found the family very welcoming. I felt safe there.
Would strongly recommend if you want to see authentic Balinese living just ten minute walk from the heart of Ubud.
Shower was very weak pressure.

Everything! the location is super quiet but a short walk to the bustling center of Ubud.
The room is spacious and has a lovely terrace.
The hosts are absolutely amazing! This is Balinese hospitality at its finest. They didn’t charge extra even though I’d made a mistake in the reservation, they literally dropped everything in their hands to help me when I got sick and they were just so welcoming and friendly, including their dog :)

The hosts were the highlight of our stay. Ketut and his family were such a lovely family that helped us organise all of our activities, gave great tips & a real taste of what local balinese life is. One evening, Ms. Madé cooked a beautiful dinner for us and another evening ketut brought us to his local temple for a show which he participated in! Its a bit more of basic accommodation but is truly authentic and very affordable for a comfortable stay in ubud.
We had to buy buy our own soaps and shampoos but that's a minor thing. A Mosquito net would have being good too.

The family atmosphere:) Alit was very helpful, she answered all our questions. Ketut took us for a nice trip around Ubud (I would skip the rice terraces, coffee agriculture is a must see). Breakfasts are modest but tasty. The coffee and a small morning talks were perfect. The room is big, clean and traditional with vast windows with a nice view. The room is cleaned daily. Lack of AC is not a problem. Situated inna city center but still quiet. A perfect stay if you are planning to explore Ubud :)
The only thing I missed was a possibility to prepair mg own tea or coffee any time.

The bed was super comfortable and lovely hot shower with therapeutic stones in! Ketut, Made, Alit and the whole family are beautiful people, warm and welcoming into their space. Offering homemade food and to your room if you need. The Kecak fire show was especially powerful for me on my arrival to Bali also! There are for sure alot of jungle sounds and chickens outside, which can take time to adjust to.. then it just allows you to experience true balinese family life, Thank you so so much to you all for everything. Love Alejandra🙏💕
