Amazing and very Authentic place!

It was one of the most authentic experiences we’ve ever had! The hotel is located right at the entrance of the Monkey Forest, with amazing jungle views. The property is in a classic Balinese style, with beautiful open spaces for lunch and breakfast. The pool was amazing: spacious and quiet, we had it completely to ourselves. The yards are full of flowers, trees, and wildlife, including monkeys visiting from time to time:) Lush garden, natural sounds, delicious breakfast and peaceful atmosphere are a real treasure of this place. The staff deserves 12 points! Very friendly, super attentive to guests and the surrounding nature. Location is just great: it’s right at the edge of a small village, and within one minute you can reach everything you need for a relaxed stay: excellent warungs, a few restaurants, bakeries and massage places. It’s cosy, full of local vibe, not crowded with tourists. We preferred staying in our village, rather than in Ubud itself, which is only a 20-minute walk away. And when we stayed in Ubud, a free hotel shuttle was provided. So we had full flexibility to stay in town until late while enjoying the calm of the village. An amazing place! We can’t imagine a better way to experience the Ubud area. Already dreaming of coming back.

Peaceful oasis just 10 mins. walk into the bustle of ubud.

Lovely large balinese villas, with all the comforts. Nice contrast to the modern cement blocks elsewhere. Lovely gardens, very peaceful. The noises were birds and monkeys ! 😁

As with many vintage properties, they could use more plugs - or we need to be less dependent on our devices !

Wonderfull staff, they did everything we asked for and more. It was like being in a real adventure almost in the monkey forrest. The only thing you have to watch out for is the stealing monkeys. Nice food in the hotel and restaurants in a walking distance.

Most stylish and mysterious villa in my life!

Increadible stylish villa, drowning in jungle. Central location. Quiet privacy. Great breakfasts and dinners. Beautiful pool. 20 min walk to center of Ubud. Numerous cafes 5 min walk. Good massage.

Nyuh Kuning is a peaceful respite from busy Ubud centre.

Location overlooking the jungle valley was beautiful. The gardens and buildings are really beautiful, old Balinese style. The monkeys that visited were an amusement. Staying in Nyuh Kuning village.

The environment and setting was BEAUTIFUL. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing and our room was spotless. Would totally stay there again! They also arranged our shuttle.

I would have preferred bottled water in the room rather than a refilled canister, just to ensure the quality for overseas travellers.

Authentic Balinese retreat

My husband and I stayed at Alam Indah Ubud for two nights, and I honestly can’t recommend it enough. It’s the perfect retreat. Tucked away in the forest, surrounded by lush greenery, and filled with the charm of authentic Balinese culture. Unlike many nearby hotels that feel quite western, this one offers a genuine local experience. The staff are incredibly warm, accommodating, and always willing to go the extra mile - you truly feel cared for from the moment you arrive. The breakfast is delicious, the gardens are beautifully maintained, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it the ideal place to unwind. This was actually my third stay at Alam Indah Ubud and it’s been the best one yet. If you’re looking for a place that combines serenity, authenticity, and outstanding service — this is it.

Beautiful Gardens, comfortable stay

The garden surrounds were beautiful with a traditional Balinese feel. I ate at the property once for dinner and breakfast and both were really nice, dinner was brought to my room. The location is good but you need to walk a track around the outside of the monkey forest to get to the main part of ubud. If you don’t want to go near the monkeys this might not be the spot for you. It was quite cool to see a few monkeys but if walking on the path make sure you don’t have food on you and carry bags high as you will walk past a few of them. I did have one launch at a canvas bag I was carrying low with dog biscuits in it, which the monkey ripped the bag and took off with the bag of biscuits. I didn’t feel comfortable to walk through at night but there are a few eating places close by to walk to in the village so you don’t have to go into ubud centre, or just go the long way around but it is a long walk. The hotel offers a shuttle which I didn’t utilise but that would have to take the long way round so probably not as quick with traffic. It was a pretty quiet place, couldn’t hear any traffic, just nature.

The property is a bit dated so could do with some freshening up on the interiors particularly the bathroom and the shower head wasn’t great and sprayed everywhere. There is no spa on site but you can get a massage at their sister property a few minutes walk away although I wasn’t entirely impressed with my treatment.

A peaceful tranquil setting to relax and enjoy the beauty of Bali

On arrival we were greeted by name and were given a much appreciated cool glass of freshly squeezed fruit juice. This was typical of our entire experience. Our room was spacious with a huge bathroom and a balcony with a spectacular view of the monkey forest and beyond. The breakfast was great with several options. The surroundings were immaculate and very peaceful and quiet.

Tranquil setting

This place provided an authentic experience to our Bali holiday. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of choices. Afternoon tea was included and was a lovely extra addition that was well appreciated. The staff were very thoughtful and placed a mosquito coil at our doorstep. We didn’t have any issues with monkeys or mosquitos during our stay.

It is a magnificent tranquil tropical oasis, 5 minute walk from hectic Ubud.

A wonderful magical place to stay! It was a tropical oasis on the edge of the Monkey Forest. Fantastic location. A 5 minute footpath takes you alongside the forest and straight into the heart of Ubud. The village it is situated in, has approx 10 -15 restuarants, a small supermarket, so plenty for a quiter night out if you don’t want to go into busy Ubud. It was great with kids after a hectic day out exploring. There is a wonderful bakery in the village too, a couple of minutes walk away. The staff are very friendly and professional. The shuttle service to Ubud is very handy. The grounds are kept immaculate with hidden little ponds, and Balinese statues. The pool area has an amazing view of lush forest and the pool is peaceful and tranquil. This accomodation would suit couples or families with an appreciation and wonder for nature. We had a monkey on our balcony and loved hearing all the crickets and frogs at night. It is 5 star luxury in the jungle!

Staff were incredible, and the location was perfect, a quiet and peaceful sanctuary still incredibly close to Ubud main centre. The room was immaculate, food was delicious and the pool was really lovely.

Beautiful Balinese character in a quieter area of Ubud.

If you want somewhere quiet, well away from noise of busy and congested down-town Ubud, then Alum Indah is perhaps the perfect oasis of peace and tranquility. Set in beautiful gardens the traditional-style Balinese accomodation provides an authentic Balinese experience.

Unfortunately this once quiet suburb of Ubud called Njuh Kuning, now has a lot of tourist development and live music can now be heard late at night from the Main Street, which Alum Indah is set back from. There was also construction happening directly behind Alum Indah, so it is not quiet at the moment during working hours. The rooms are beautiful, but those looking for modern creature comforts of TVs, kettles, hairdryers and fridges need to look elsewhere. The air conditioning unit in our room (Coconut) was also so noisy we ended up switching it off at night. It is important to note that the restaurant, although set in amongst the beautiful gardens, does not serve wine and the menu is mostly Indonesian.

A beautiful location and perfect place to escape from the frenetic city.

The hotel was an oasis of calm just on the outskirts of the madness of central Ubud. Our room was on the top floor with views across the forest. The room itself was large, with a good sized bathroom and balcony area. The breakfast was good and there was free tea and coffee available throughout the day, along with complimentary afternoon tea each day. There was also a shuttle that was available during the day to take you into the centre of Ubud, if you didn’t fancy the 15-20 minute walk. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. The pool provided a nice place to cool down and relax.

There wasn’t a ‘stand up’ shower- just a bath with a shower head.

Located on a dead end road so fairly quiet traffic wise. Plenty of food and spa options close by. Great massage close to property. Amazing gardens and old Bali architecture.

Fab location by the monkey forest just outside Ubud but only 10 min walk into the centre. Lots of lovely bars & restaurants very close by. Our 2 storey house was huge with 2 big bathrooms & great balcony with lovely views. Staff very friendly & breakfast was delicious!!

Peaceful oasis near center of Ubud

The place is magic! Surrounded by nature! So peaceful and wonderful. Our room was facing a pond with lotus flowers, birds and butterflies around, quiet and peace. I felt that I could be there for a long time to reset and recharge. Close to Ubud Center by motorbike.

A Dream Stay

We liked absolutely everything! This is why it was our 2nd time visiting this hotel! Nestled within the Monkey Forest, this is probably the only hotel that has so much nature surrounding it- crickets, birds and the occasional monkeys, that is all you will hear. Restorative and very serene place with very spacious and clean rooms, with all the necessary amnesties. If you come from the city, like we do, then this place grounds you and makes you come back to your roots in no time! The staff were super friendly, smiling and at our disposal. Would really recommend the massage and dinner (it is like your family from Bali cooked it - delicious and nothing you’d find in a restaurant- try the tempeh with egg plant/courgette- the secret is in the spices! Enjoy every bite!)

Nirvana

Being able to look out over the garden from our balcony was an endless delight. In fact everything was a delight and sooo relaxing. This was a new part of Ubud for us to stay in and is perfect with a short walk to a street of restaurants, shop and local life without being too far from the centre.

Beautiful Property and Surrounds

This is such a beautiful property in beautiful surroundings, the pool and view did not disappoint. The accommodation itself was done in beautiful traditional Balinese style and was extremely spacious. We loved having a downstairs and upstairs with lovely bathrooms and a gorgeous outlook from the upstairs windows and balcony. It was such a pleasure to wake up every morning. The staff were lovely and accommodating and particularly good with my 3 year old. They all made a fuss of her and even took her to do some drawing whilst we finished breakfast one morning. The food was delicious, and we felt thoroughly spoilt. There are also some lovely restaurants a very short walk from the property and a free shuttle on request into Ubud centre.

The monkeys are regular visitors to the pool area so you do have to watch your belongings. If you are not holding it, they will take it! There are convenient lockers located next to the pool though and the staff do their best to deter them.

Outstanding stay by the monkey forest

Everything about the hotel is great, so private and beautiful, the views on the monkey forest is spectacular, we never come back to the same places but this was the first time we did because we just LOVE this place so much. The most comfortable we’ve ever felt. The garden is so beautiful, so well taken care of. The staff is incredibly kind. We came back a year later they recognised us, so we felt even more like home. Their crepes for breakfast also were part of what we looked forward too again 😅. We’d want to make this a yearly thing!!

Loved the stay here!!

I loved my stay here. The location is fantastic, just out of the hustle of downtown but only a 20 minute walk through the monkey forest to the Palace/downtown. The street is lovely with restaurants, nightclub, yoga, stores, massage ... very safe and quiet. The grounds are gorgeous, and the pool is a welcome sight for a swim in the very warm afternoons. Loved the large room, and giant porch with balinese couch for lounging on. The staff were professional, helpful, and very nice. Food terrific, and the ginger tea delicious. They had a handy shuttle to take you to/from locations. And they organized the taxi to/from airport. Note the grounds are traditional with large stone steps so may not be perfect for those with mobility issues. Recommend.

A hidden oasis

We loved everything about this property. The room was large and comfortable with a lovely balcony and a large day bed for relaxing. Staff were exceptional, complimentary on call drivers, lovely pool with the added bonus of being able to endlessly watch the monkeys in their habitat next door. This property has such a peaceful vibe and is set in stunning garden surrounds. We loved the breakfast selection and the added touch of a library and a book with Balinese folk stories left in the room to read.
