Absolutely gorgeous view from the room. They overlook the islands off in the middle of the lake. The rim road at the bottom is not for the faint of heart. No shoulder and LOTS of fast driving cars. A bit of a walk (15 minutes of stress) to the main part of town. We taxied back.

We would definitely return to Villa Maria if back in Stresa.

Our apartment at Villa Maria was beautiful. Unfortunately, we only had one night, but we could easily have stayed for a week given the size and comfort of the apartment. The apartment is above the lake, and the view was amazing.

Really the only downside to Villa Maria is that it is a bit out of town and up a fairly steep hill. We walked to the boat dock to go to Isola Bella, but some people might not be comfortable with that.

Villa Maria, picture book views.

The view was absolutely spectacular. It's actually why I booked Villa Maria, but the room was excellent too. Clean, comfortable, daily visits from the cleaner, who supplied an ironing board and iron when asked. Breakfast snacks and coffee topped up daily too. The owner also came to chat, and was very friendly.

High quality spacious accommodation up above Maggiore. Great views. Short car ride to ferry from Carciano taking you to all destinations on the Lake. Would return.

Tricky to find, up a steep narrow road the location of which is not obvious. A bit of a way out of Stresa so really a car ride to a restaurant.

Just the most gorgeous view! Great shower and bed. Very roomy.

The scene from this accommodation is one of the best we’ve experienced. It offers an uninterrupted view overlooking the islands on Lake Como. The accommodation is large and spacious and to a very high standard.

I wouldn't come back

The property is located at the top of the hill, so the view from the window on Lake Maggiore and the Borromeo islands was magnificent.

It could have been better if the management has not decided to turn off the air conditioning at the property, citing the reason that "it is too cold" (while it was above 25 the whole day, so the house became really heated). When we asked to turn it on, the response was that this is the way the system is designed, so there is no way to turn it on for us, and since we were not able to sleep in the hot and suffocating room, the suggestion was to open the window. This could have been great, if we haven't lived on the first floor, so sleeping the. whole night with the windows open a) didn't feel really safe and b) was in complete breach of our privacy, since other guests were still walking under the windows. We survivied, of course, but the whole experience was ruined (not mentioning ruining the night sleep). It would be great if instead of simply stating in the description that the property has "air condition", it would be specified that the air conditioner is centrally controlled by the management (and could be turned off at any moment as they see fit). It's worth to mention that during the next two weeks of our vacation there was only one property with the similar system; all the rest of the properties (5 out of 7) provided the option for the guests to turn the AC on and off, as needed and as expected. O yes, and I forgot to mention that on the first morning we woke up to the power outage (which resulted in us being stuck in the room, without an opportunity to leave it, until the electrical issue has been resolved.

Amazing view over isola bella

Amazing view over the lake. The apartment was also gorgeous. It was much better than I expected to be honest, spacious and comfortable and a lot of though had obviously gone into the design.

Overall the stay was good. It would have been good if the receiptionist had reminded us that breakfast wasn't included (you eat at the hotel down the road) as it was a bit of a surprise on checkout but to be fair that is really a minor niggle. Overall we really enjoyed the stay there.
