Hotel Boston

Great location in a truly amazing part of the world. The room was very small but given that we were only there for a night this didnt concern us greatly. The buffet breakfast was great. Room was accesible via lift which is a real bonus in Italy.

It's a good no frills hotel in the quite side of central Stresa in a great location. The staff is welcoming and helpful.

No air - conditioning in the lobby / public areas which becomes very uncomfortable during the summers. Lots of mosquitoes around.

The Boston Hotel in Stresa, beside Lake Maggiore, is a bit contradictory. As you approach it, the exterior looks a bit dated so first impressions may not be too positive. However, inside that exterior is a relatively modern hotel. The hotel is in two parts, with the older part at the front and a large, newer extension at the rear, which includes a large dining area. We were in a room in the rear section. Whilst we are unable to comment on the rooms in the older section, one would guess that they were renovated when the new extension was built. The rooms in the new extension are modern, with a reasonably spacious bedroom, a comfortable bed, large wardrobe, small desk, fridge and safe. Whilst the bathroom was a bit small, it was very functional, with a large shower, hot water and quality towels. One of the best features of the room was the large patio, with table and chairs for that evening glass of wine. Whilst the view is not overly aesthetic, the patio augments the room size, providing a less closed-in environment. The patios in the older section atr about half the size and overlook the road so significantly less appealing. The dining area is large and modern; with lots of windows to provide an airy atmosphere. On a scale of 1-10, the provided breakfast probably rates a score of 6, as the hot breakfast options are limited, cold and not overly appetising. It also has the slowest toaster in the Northern hemisphere! The location is excellent, just a few hundred metres from the lake edge, ferries and town centre. The local rail and bus station are also within easy walking distance. The hotel tariff was good according to my tour director (my wife), so nothing much to complain about, but the breakfast could be easily improved. RECOMMENDED.

Mainly the hot breakfast which was cold and not very appetising.

The location was very good for us as we arrived and departed by train. In addition, the location was only a couple of blocks from the lakeshore promenade and a short walk to the commercial areas for dining or shopping.

Really nothing. The staff were friendly and professional. The room was clean and comfortable.
