Lovely hospitable stay with beautiful views

Going to centre of town is not easy as we have to keep to the the set times or pay for the out of hours request.

Beautiful hotel and location but a noisy suite and an unacceptable nanny service ruined experience

The hotel building is stunning with a beautiful view over the lake and mountains. The interiors are elegant and clean, and the staff at reception and breakfast were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast itself was fresh and nicely presented.

Our suite faced the garden and was directly next to a service lift. There was no privacy and constant noise from carts and staff passing, making it impossible to rest. The nanny service, advertised at €45/hour with English-speaking staff, turned out to be a 16-year-old who barely spoke English, entertained my child with phone and TV, and even fell asleep while on duty. For the price charged, the service felt completely unacceptable and unsafe.

The property is stunning and the staff were so friendly and helpful. i had a lake view room well worth the price…..the views were priceless.

A fabulous hotel in a beautiful location.

We had a beautiful room at the Palazzo overlooking Lake Maggiore. The design of the whole hotel was fabulous and everything we ate - breakfast, dinner, snacks - were all amazing. Expensive but worth it!

The pool was always crowded with limited shade so we unfortunately didn’t get to use it.

The best hotel you cold wish for!

There are not enough superlatives for this hotel. We LOVED it. If you want to feel like royalty, this is the place for you. Stunning location, wonderful staff who cannot do enough to help you, excellent service throughout. Wonderful pool, with plenty of sun loungers. Food was amazing, The dinner experience was one to remember forever. I think you get the drift!! We would love to stay here on a regular basis. Now my most favourite hotel in the world.

Magical couple of nights…

Perfect view, beautiful decoration, great food and exceptional staff….could not have been more helpful. It’s impossible to describe how beautiful the view from our lake view room was, at all times of day. The breakfast is the best that I have had for a while and the pool and grounds are immaculate. The interior of the hotel is stunning. A very romantic place, we loved it . The gym was perfect and I had an excellent massage . The concierge were extremely helpful and quick….we did a boat trip and it was really worth it.

Our room was fairly small and there was a lack of privacy on the balcony owing to the insubstantial, but pretty dividing screens. The steam room was not hot and nor was the jacuzzzi. The road is noisy and you only notice this when you are by the pool or trying to cross it. More could be made of the lakeside area….could do with a pool there as well maybe.

A beautiful elegant hotel

The room was beautifully decorated; cute balcony and mini bar was free. Staff were very friendly. Gluten free offerings for breakfast (set up as part of the buffet so you didn’t need to ask for them). They had gluten free cruskits, sweet biscuits and gluten free bread that was suprisingly soft and tasty. We had a light lunch on one of the days and enjoyed this. Drinks and snacks on the terrace was also nice.

The walk into Stresa was via a busy winding road without a footpath.

Visitin the lakes area in Italy with friends.

The location and view could not be beaten that was excellent. The staff were very pleasant & helpful & the boat trip we arranged with reception around the islands was exceptional,the skipper was lovely & took us out for a very enjoyable day. Breakfast selection at the hotel was good but a few hitches in service. The pool was lovely & very welcome in the extreme heat. The grotto area had some problems though. The hotel is beautiful over the top opulent Italian style,so if this is your forte this one is for you. On site parking a bonus in this area.

The annex we were in was up a very steep slope with very awkward steps & we were told off for parking the car near the entrance of the annex to avoid having to walk up late at night. The annex rooms are in need of renovation,they are very tired & the bathrooms are very small & the bath almost impossible to get in & out of to use the overhead shower, if you have mobility problems do not book these rooms. The hairdryer was old,noisy & the nozzle did not fit,not what you expect from 5 star prices. There was just one mirror that was in the bathroom so getting ready with two people was not great. The breakfast choice was good but service was haphazard,I ordered a soft boiled egg & one day it was never received & next day it was left to get cold before I went to find it & each time I was told it would be served to me. So they need to get organised & decide if it’s served or collected. The grotto area needs to be sorted out as well,the hot tub was scalding hot, in fact very dangerous to even put your feet in & the steam room was not hot enough,just warm.The rainfall area is really just a gimmick nothing much just different showers with colours & some noises,didn’t really achieve anything. The changing rooms is one room for one person with a very small shower which is difficult to get in & out of & a separate toilet,so not sure how several people could use it. Sorry not 5 star from me apart from the location & view but 5 star prices all the same.

Breakfasts at a 3-4* level. Not nearly a 5* breakfast. Cheapest pastry selection. Not anywhere near the level you would expect in 5* in the heart of Italy. Major issue getting anything (juices, pastry, beacon, etc.) if the buffet table has ran out of it in the middle of the breakfast time. All cut meats were uncut so you could not take them (you are supposed to find staff who would cut it for you, with little success sometimes). The dining room and tableware was top quality though.

For a 5 star hotel it didn’t meet with our expectations.

Amazing view of the islands . Very good breakfast and friendly staff.

We stayed 6 nights and the air conditioning in our room never worked in spite of various attempts at fixing it . No one ever took our calls at the spa and then got the wrong time for the treatment . One must be aware that to go on the lake side you have to cross a very busy road . On the whole I think the hotel is badly managed .

The was only 3 star and desperately needed refurbishment. We could not turn off the AC which pumped out right next to the bed, even a member of staff couldn’t as well as reception who said twice that they had done it remotely

Stresa offers lots of grand hotels and I would recommend one in the town rather than this one.

Comfortable bed, attentive staff. Lovely view.

Room was extremely stuffy - it needed airing. Too many staff doing too little. Spa offered an expensive manicure & pedicure (beyond central London prices) and had around 6 colours only to offer. Dinner menu in both restaurants very limited. This hotel is out of town and there is no pavement in parts between it and the town of Stresa so you have to walk along the edge of the busy main road. Therefore the navette service is really important for guests but it only runs every 90 minutes and then not at all over lunch time nor after 1805 hrs in the evening. For a driving distance of 5-8 minutes this is a service that should be constant for this quality of hotel.

Nice view, Not so great Hotel

The staff was very friendly and the view is amazing.

The food here was not that great for this level of hotel. I came for a wedding and no one really liked the food that was served. There was only 1, maybe 2 decent dishes. The other thing that I didn't like is that the shower in the bathroom is very poorly designed. The glass door is so small that water gets all over the floors. The tub is so high when I was getting out I almost fell multiple times. My other friends also complained about falling so I'm definitely not the only one.

bathroom was a bit rough with a lot of “filler” around the baths to deal with water leakage, also the skirting boards were quite damaged. room was pleasant but is of a certain style which is not modern and would not suit all tastes.

Shuttle service into town does not run often enough. Room temperature being controlled from downstairs. No response received after 2 requests to lower room temp as it was very warm.

we enjoyed our stay. Hotel is very grand. Only criticism - there was a nespresso machine in our room with coffee capsules, but no milk. When we asked for milk we were charged 7 euros! The hotel did withdraw the charge when challenged. would suggest some UHT milk capsules be provided.

Lovely location and staff, but not worth the expense

The location on Lago Maggiore is stunning. There were gorgeous panoramic views of the lake from the patio where we had breakfast. The staff was very friendly. The bed was incredibly comfortable.

The rooms, though clean, feel very worn and in desperate need of renovation. Parts of the carpet were threadbare, the doors and wardrobes were scuffed, there were unfilled holes in the wall, the caulk around the bathtub was applied sloppily. it was disappointing to spend so much money to stay somewhere that was not very well maintained.

The housekeeping needs to report to the manager about any cracks or removable parts related to the decorative part of the room or repainting the dissolved paints. It is essential to have routine checks on the rooms to sustain the beauty of the hotel structure for many years to come.
