Very convenient in the heart of Chicago, easy walking access to food and shopping. The breakfast was very good and the staff were very nice. Full kitchen made it easy to buy your own food and cook it in the room, if you wanted to. All day coffee and teas were very nice especially during a winter storm!
I was there for 4 nights and I don’t get offered any new towels. And it took a while for them to come grab the trash out of the hallway.

The photos were so accurate to the room (#1406!), I wondered if I was staying in the model they photographed. Everything was well-maintained and spotless. Sheets and mattress protector looked brand new. The breakfast each morning was hot, kept refilled and tidy, and attended by friendly morning staff with great attitudes. The folks at the front desk were polite and informative. The laundry room and fitness center were convenient, clean, and well-equipped. The view (pictured!) from the 14th was a great one of the city, including the John Hancock building. Location is a great one for tourists; close to restaurants, museums, and shopping. I’m a local; needed a place to stay while some work was done on my building; and will definitely be back for another staycation. Thanks for a great experience, especially for a lowkey germaphobe. I’ve already recommended this hotel to friends coming this summer!
ALMOST no notes on this stay, but two things that may be of note to visitors —the non-automatic breezeway doors (likely only in place during winter months) were extremely hard to open and are an accessibility issue for folks using mobility aids. Also, if like me, you don’t use a smartphone, you won’t be able to use the laundry as it requires an app. However, the information sheet they gave me at check-in did provide a resource on who to ask for help. I just used someone else’s phone.

Clean and updated friendly staff and a great breakfast bar.
The main bed was quite hard and the fold out bed was thin, springy and uncomfortable.

The parking that's horrible

Convenient location, great room in amenities at hotel, free breakfast was a plus as well. Would recommend staying here if you want close access to downtown area.
Booking.com says there’s free parking but in that area it is not possible. It’s either $70 valet with the hotel or you could go to a parking garage nearby and pay for the 24 hour parking. Would recommend looking into parking before going to venues so there’s no surprises.

Very convenient location. Great rates. Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff courteous, friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Nicely stocked kitchen made eating take-out and delivery very easy. Good job, Sonesta!
Can't think of anything I didn't like but perhaps more television options would be nice (like perhaps or channels or free Netflix) and a hand-held shower nozzle in the bathroom.

The room was very nice. Great location
The fact that we were advised on several occasions. That they had specific things for dogs, also liste on the hotel website. You no longer offer these. Services.

It was near many things, we were able to walk or get a cheap uber.
It could have been cleaner, I feel like the bathroom was not fully wiped down.

Fantastic location just off the Magnificent Mile. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment with a lovely view. Breakfast was an added bonus.
The only thing I could say is that the 2 bedroom apartment had only one bathroom. We had 5 adults staying here but made it work!

Location was great. The bed was also great and very comfortable.
Breakfast was very poor. We did not have it after the initial first time. Shower/bathroom was very small and the room needs an upgrade. The carpet was not vacuumed/cleaned.

Location to the beachfront area and downtown was perfect. Easy walk to both. Right in the middle of everything, and yet still off on a bit of a side street, that made it feel a little more private.

The location is perfect. If you love to walk, this is just right for you because a lot of notable attractions are within the area. The staff are always there to address all your needs.
The free breakfast was okay. I wish they can offer more variety of foods for breakfast.

1. Friendly staff
2. Big room
3. Outstanding location
1. Although it is not specified in the description, they only clean the room if you stay more than 5 nights.
2. The rooms are quite noisy, you can hear everything from the hallway.
3. The mattress of the sofa bed is extremely uncomfortable. I don’t recommend it for elder people or people that can’t sleep easily.
4. The breakfast options are quite limited. Also on weekdays, they only serve breakfast until 9am.

Staff was friendly, polite and helpful. We felt welcomed and appreciated.
Room accomodations were nice, spacious and well appointed. Location was good.
Need to change check-in policy. After arriving in the city early (9am) we didnt expect to be able to check in, only drop our luggage off until our room was ready. Our room was ready shortly after 1pm (we got a call from front desk since I requested they do so). Was told if I checked in I had to pay a fee ($75 or something). That was disappointing. Ive traveled quite a bit and was never told to pay a fee if a room happened to be ready before official check in. If my room was ready, we were allowed to checkin. I understand fees for late check out, but this soured my stay a bit. Maybe I'm accustomed to the more recognizable brands like Marriott, Hilton, even IHG. Theyve never asked me to pay if my room was ready early, even if it was 2 or 3 hours before official check in. I don't understand what the hotel is losing by allowing this courtesy. It seems its just a way to charge their patrons. I'd rather pay a slightly higher room rate than to be nickle and dimed over a couple hours of hotel time. Diminshed my impression of the Sonesta brand. Made them seem like they weren't putting their patrons comfort first. Bad strategy in order to make a few extra bucks. They lose more than they gain in my opinion.
The The breakfast was ok. There weren't enough hot breakfast options. A meat, eggs and potatoes were pretty much it. Those items were not great but were edible. I understand the breakfast is free but it would be nice if more effort was put into expanding the options and better quality food.
The bathtub was badly stained with a yellowish color. Made it look really dirty. There were also strands of hair on the shower walls before we used the shower. Made me think rhe bathroom wasnt thoroughly cleaned/sanitized between guest stays. Thankfully O travel with my own cleaning supplies. I wiped down the entire bathThe stains should be addressed by maintenance. Housekeeping should alert hotel staff when thry notice things like stains that don't come...

Absolutely loved the view from our room! Staff was really nice and was available for any questions. The breakfast was not bad. The location was great for us. Its close to alot of attractions and stores. They also had a store downstairs which was convient. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
No ice machine.

Excellent location, the coffee at the entrance
It wasnt clean, the breakfast was too early and not much, in 1 month they couldnt solve the wifi problem, in 1 month they couldnt get me a chair in my room, the price at the end was different as booked, bad service in general and the light at the room was too low (not enough).

Spacious room after the extra upgrade
The parking ticket trap outside the front door was un apprieciated, I paid for overnight parking and while they realized my truck didn't fit it their parking spot they had us use an app to find parking. While we took our bags upstairs the parking natzi waited for us to get to the door and wrote us a $70 parking ticket,.. keep in mind I paid for the overnight parking with my room. Then used an app and paid for a parking spot that closed 10 min after we used the app and refused our parking pass AND wouldn't return my money because it was 10:10pm so they said it was my fault. It's a shame to treat people this way, I live 3 plus hours away and brought my 1 year old grandbaby to see a pediatric Nephrologist at the Children's hospital the next morning because we've nearly lost him 3 times in his one year of life. So this less than 24 hour day trip cost me $700 just to get this baby to the Dr. For 1 hour. Outside of that my rooms were nice for the 10 hours we were there. . Pretty sad . I will have very little expectations next time

The location of the hotel was excellent as it was within a mile of many of the attractions. It was also in a very clean and peaceful area. The hotel laid on complimentary tea/coffee from 7am to 9pm in reception and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the weather and also the atmosphere of Chicago. Our room was a really good size and we didn't feel cramped or under each others feet. Breakfast was good and while it offered a hot selection it wasn't quite a full english. But it was good enough to start the day.
The hotel didn't have a bar which was slightly disappointing but there were many places in Chicago to enjoy a evening drink or meal.

Staff was great breakfast was ok but not great
The fact it wasn't clear that valet was the only option at $70 a day with no other option for close parking and the first day our lock to our room broke and we had to load everything back in our van and wait tell 4 o'clock for a different room

Sonesta was a very fun place to stay. It was conveniently located right downtown just a couple blocks from the lake. The staff was very nice and the rooms were spacious. The beds were also very comfortable. Everything we needed was provided. The breakfast was exceptional. One bonus that my kids loved was the key cards with animal portraits on them. We would definitely stay here again.
The only negative was that there was no parking for our large SUV with a storage compartment in the underground parking, so my husband had to remove the storage thing, but what can you expect in downtown Chicago? And the valet staff was very helpful.

The breakfest was ok. Loved the room and location. The room was very clean and comfortable.
The elevators are super small which made for long wait times. The valet would take a little longer than we would like even when notified with ample time.

Very nice location. Short way to lots of attractions. Quiet and clean. Don't know if the beds were very good or I just slept very heavily because of walking 20.000 steps a day in this great city.
Breakfast was the simplest we've ever experienced in any hotel... No vegetables except the potatoes they served a couple of days. Only sausage, scrambled eggs and fried bread or potatoes. Yoghurt and two kinds of cereals. Toast. The second morning we ate the leftover pizza from the restaurant we visited the day before. Nice kitchen in the room so it's a good option to make breakfast yourself.

Great Gold Coast location. We traveled with our dog and it was very easy. The room had a basic kitchen that made it easy to stirecabdcregeatvkeftivers and keep a few drinks. Valet parking was great though a bit pricey with tips, but the convenience was worth it
The bed was comfortable but the pillows way too puffy
